The owner was super nice and friendly. Never been here as I was just passing through after finishing my business at the CADCA. She recommended a couple of drinks and I settled for the toffee nut mocha. If I’m ever in town gain, I will try their locally roasted coffees. Though the toffee nut mocha was good, I don’t know why I ordered it because I’m not a huge mocha fan lol. Three stars for now, will update when I return.

I was excited to try this place, as I’d heard the owner has beans roasted specifically for them. Well, I highly doubt it! Some of the worst coffee I’ve ever had, the Sumatran drip tasted like cigarettes. Might be an OK place if you drink«coffee» full of cream and sugar, but you should definitely look elsewhere if you actually like to drink drip. You’ll notice the other reviewers are getting mocha-latta-caramel-cotton candy-whatever. Gross! To add insult to injury, I brought my own cup and they still charged me more than Temple does. Seriously?!

Way pricey for good gourmet coffee. Nice owner. Would like to see an open mic for poetry or something there.

I came in ten minutes before closing and the worker was upset. She cleaned up as if the shop was already closed and didn’t want to serve me. She already cleaned the machines and was mopping the floor. Poor service. Assumed I wanted a small coffee but wanted a large. Added creAm to my coffee without given me the opportunity to pour the amount myself. She touched with her bare finger(after mopping) the coffee espresso grinds to level out the bowl. Yuck! I asked which of the two cups of coffee was hazelnut and she didn’t answer and went to the back to drop off a tray. She came back after I asked again and she had to open the lids of the coffee with her dirty hands. She couldn’t remember? I tried to be cheerful as I was feeling guilty of wasting her time and told her«merry Christmas«as I was leaving. No reply. Smh. Unpleasant esp for a coffee shop. Touching my lid and coffee grinds with dirty hands(touched money and mop handle) is a concern. I did not enjoy my experience with the unpleasant worker and poor hygiene.

What a find this place was! I travel all the time for work and love to find local coffee shops along the way. The super personable barista asked me to describe what I liked and then said«Can I make you something to try?» Who’s going to turn that down? I ended up with a white cinnamon breva and it was freaking amazing. It was so different — never had anything remotely close to that flavor. I also succumbed to the sticky bun — damn you! A sticky bun with a croissant base? Yes, please! It was amazing as well. I’m flying out today, but will definitely come back here on my next trip!

Nice quiet place. The atmosphere is inviting. I received a coupon for a free medium drink and tried out an iced Macchiato and sticky bun. The sticky bun was thick and sweet and of course sticky. It was $ 2.60 and the drink would have been almost $ 5.00. Drink was good and compatible with other coffee shops. I wished it was a little sweeter. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. There were some older guys playing chess at a couple of boards. We thought that was neat. We will be back when we are nearby.

Coffee good. Food disgusting. Ordered turkey sandwich. Gross. Just weird turkey lettuce cheese and bread with a packet of mayo and mustard. Couldn’t even get the first bite down. Ruined my lunch break.

I go here about once or twice a week. Raven and her Mother are amazing. Raven has my drink down to a science, I don’t even have to say it anymore. I’ve gone to starbucks for the same drink and never will i ever get that drink again from starbucks, to clarify I get an Iced Soy Chai Latte no Expresso. It seriously has the perfect amount of spice and not to creamy at all which with starbucks its was almost like I was just drinking soy milk. I cant express enough how amazing and comfortable this place is. I would recommend it for just about anyone. They are a little pricey but worth it!

I wanted to try a new place to study so I decided to stop by. I have tried many different flavors — Amaretto, coconut, white mocha, all of them iced and they have tasted amazing. The baristas are extremely friendly, really nice and really patient. I’m a very indecisive person and they give me some of their recommendations based off how I was feeling and craving at the time. I try a new flavor every time I am here and I am always happy. Their homemade sweets are really good too! I come here to study every week or so.

*edit* The owner saw my previous review before i left. She informed me I was overcharged for the croissant and I received ~$ 2.50 back. I appreciated her apology and she offered a samosa before I left(which I declined because I wasnt really hungry). Good customer service goes a long way. Thank you. —-prev review — The employee that helped me was nice and coffee was alright but this place is ridiculously overpriced. $ 5 for a croissant? And it wasnt even that good! They dont have the prices of their pastries listed and I ended up being quite surprised when I was charged $ 8 for a cup of iced coffee and a croissant. They generally have a very limited selection of food and didnt even have the ingredients to make the single sandwich they offer in their menu. It’s making me wish I’d gone to starbucks instead. All i can say is i know which café in natomas to stay away from now

I went to this locally owned coffee shop only twice when Sam was the owner. Sam had a crazy good memory. He remembered right off the bat what I ordered the first time around when I went in there for a 2nd time months apart. WTH? I have since then been to this coffee shop multiple times under the new owners Ruth and her daughter. Ruth and her daughter are just as friendly and welcoming. The shop is very small, but has a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. There are a couple tables and chairs as well as a sofa & coffee table. It is a great place for some quiet study time or for friends to catch up and play a game of chess. Whenever I go, I usually see one or two other customers there so the place is not packed at all. All of the walls are paintings and artwork from local artists that you can purchase. There is also a rack with greeting cards and children’s books that you can buy. As far as the drinks go, I enjoyed my regular iced mocha as well as their popular toffee mocha drink, but I find them all to be way too sweet for my taste. I personally enjoy more of the bitter coffee taste. This is not a problem though! Mrs. Ruth and her daughter will make your drink just as you like it and they’ll even ask you to taste it first to make sure that you are satisfied with your drink. This shop also has soups, breakfast sandwiches, quiches, breads, and etc. behind a display. If you’d like to sample the soup of the day, just ask. The prices of the drinks and food are priced fairly. The only downside to the place is that you must spend $ 5.00 or more in order to use your debit card otherwise you will be charged a fee. I sometimes forget and have to go digging for cash/change to pay so I look hella broke. Parking is inside a shopping center and there’s plenty of parking. However, just be careful when leaving your car. Make sure you hold your purse close to you. Sometimes there are shady characters hanging outside around the area near a Cigarette/Liquor shop and around Maestro’s front patio area.

I love how comfortable and relaxing the place is. The workers were really nice and helped me decide on my drink. The art on the walls were beautiful. I ordered the cookie monster the first time I went and it just tasted like a cookies and cream shake. The second time I went, I ordered a white chai and my fiancé ordered some kind of snickers frapp. I don’t think it was on the menu yet but the worker said they just added that drink to the store, I loved it. Both of the drinks were awesome. I feel like you could never go wrong with a chai drink and the snickers frapp tasted like a good dessert. Especially given that I absolutely love snickers. Anyways this is a great spot I was able to get some homework done at and chill with a tasty drink to sip on.

I already loved their coffee so I was hesitant to hear they had new owners. I shouldn’t have been. The coffee is still amazing, and the people who are running it are wonderful. We happened to stop in during their grand opening. Our daughter got free face painting, I got my beloved toffee mocha and we got to listen to some fabulous music. The art on the walls is all local artists so don’t forget to check it out. I have never seen any pecan pie for purchase but they were giving out mini pecan pie and 7up cake today and they were both delicious but the pecan was to die for. The crust was crumbly and buttery just the way crust should be and the pie itself, although only two bites was the perfect of balance of pecans and sweet! I am excited to see the direction this coffee house takes under new ownership.

I’ve only been here twice before and both times, I had outstanding experiences. From other Unilocal reviews/tips, I learned that the nice man behind the counter was Sam and that, sadly, he was leaving soon. Well, I came here this afternoon and the new owners(mother/daughter combo) have started working. While the menu remains the same, it was obvious that the daughter(the one who helped me) hadn’t tried any of the drinks so she didn’t offer much of a recommendation other than what she«heard was good». I didn’t watch her make the drink but my Borgia(dark chocolate and orange) was pretty good. Although her yelling at her mother about how she couldn’t find the orange didn’t really inspire confidence. It seems like they’re trying to preserve the same overall vibe of Maestro Coffee and not drastically change things up but it’s quite obvious that as of now, they don’t have the same finesse that Sam did. While I worked on my laptop, it seemed like they knew a good amount of the customers but there was an excessive amount of yelling/loud talking between mother and daughter from the counter to the back of the coffeehouse. Perhaps they’re still just transitioning and learning the ropes — hopefully they’ll iron out the kinks and pay more attention to the small stuff in the future.

A real nice and quiet café complete with art, games, magazines, and a nice couch! Out of the two times I’ve been here, service has been phenomenal. The owner is super friendly and professional. He takes his time on creating the drinks ensuring top notch quality. I have tried the iced mocha and frozen green tea. Note you can sub the milk for soy or almond(which is awesome!). The iced mocha was cool, refreshing, sweet, and strong! The coffee was really fragrant and whatever he did to the beans, they bloomed in taste. The frozen green tea… now after living in NYC all my life, I have tried many variants of iced green tea lattes… the worst came from Starbucks(just stick to their coffees) and best came from a small local Japanese restaurant that is no longer open. This frozen green tea was da bomb! It was real nice and sweet, but the green tea aroma really stood out. I think I found my new favorite café~

Well, it’s located in a strip mall. So that is not exactly going to give this place bonus points. On the bright side, it was super easy to find parking right in front of the coffee shop. When I walked in, I did notice a lot of cool art on the walls which seemed worth looking at. However, the coffee shop was also dimly lit, which is not ideal at all for those who want more light when working/studying. They did have some seating to look out the front window, but then had these ugly posters advertising different drinks blocking the view outside. What is the point of having windows if you can’t look out of them? I ordered the Wild Blackberry Mocha which tasted average – nothing I had to spit out, but definitely nothing I would recommend to others. I felt like this place is highly overrated and don’t personally plan on coming back.

I like the convenience of Starbuck’s practically around every corner. However, I will go with the local spots with character in a heartbeat to grab some coffee, or in my recent case tea. Maestro is small, but has lots of personality and art on the wall from local artists and schools. Tons of drinks on the menu, but the friendly staff boost for fancy flavors like the nutty caramel(which is pretty awesome), but they don’t have much in the pastry or other food department. Natomas-ites, support your local businesses when you can. Maestro needs and wants your business. Forgo the Starbuck’s app on your phone and give your money to these guys, you won’t be sorry. It’s not hard to get to both freeways from here on the corner of Truxel and Arena.
