Silver and gold bars and coins. Modern and unique designs in silver and foreign bullion coins a specialty. We have a large selection of pre 1964 silver coins, sold by the bag of $ 25 face value or individually. We carry collector books, investor books, and airtite containers to keep your coins looking perfect. American Eagle coins in silver and gold always available. Morgans always available. Canadian Maple coins in silver and gold always available. Those 5 coins are our best sellers. Always something new and interesting to look at.

History

Established in 2008.

Mom, Joyce Espinosa, started this business at the urging of her 3 sons as an eBay company in fall of 2008. She incorporated in spring of 2009 with her mother Elinor Lynch and son Randy Hommel. Eventually John, her husband also became a shareholder. The website www​.momssil​ver​shop​.com began in April of 2009 and eBay sales were discontinued. The shop on Auburn Blvd was opened in the spring of 2010. It is a comfortable place to come and visit, suitable for families. You always feel like family here. In Spring 2012 Randy Hommel took over the day to day management to give Mom a break, but she is often in the shop waiting on customers and just visiting. When Randy got his dream job at Amazon spring 2014, Joyce has been back in the shop along with her husband John. We just hired a long time coin collector, Wes, who is our resident specialist in collector coins. Please welcome him to our shop.

Born and raised in Sacramento, Joyce stayed at home and raised her 3 sons until 1989 when she obtained her real estate license and began selling residential real estate. She obtained top honors in the Masters Club for 10 years. For the next 9 years she did mortgage brokering and real estate sales and leasing and in 2008 after a prolonged illness began her new venture of Mom’s Silver Shop, discontinuing most real estate activities. She led the shop to record sales in the Great recession winning #7 in Fastest growing businesses in the Sacramento Business Journal in 2012. She specializes in purchases of coin collections for Mom’s Silver Shop.

So my husband and I adventured out to our first gold buying experience today and so thankful we went to Mom’s Silver Shop. We loved this place & this will continue to be go to place for our future purchases. We just felt the honesty and trusted them right away. They took the time to school us and were very patient with us newbies. We love supporting the locals and the atmosphere we just adored it was almost like walking into an old west shop. Had a very pleasant experience working with John! Excellent customer service and attention to detail. I sold some silver bullion and we walked through counting of each specific piece and back checking each other’s math. I respect and highly regard the team at Mom’s Silver Shop. After visiting another coin shop immediately prior (due to the proximity to my work), I had a unique opportunity to compare Mom’s to that shop. The other shop was not a good experience, but then I went to Mom’s. Wow, what a difference! Honest helpful staff who really know their business. They are straightforward and honest. This is the place to go if you want reputable professional service and helpful friendly staff to deal with. Can’t say enough good things about Mom’s!

My husband told me about this place (raved about it, in fact). As an avid collector, he buys a lot of silver (and I have my own smaller investment of bullion and bars). So when the time came to make our first (modest) purchase of gold bullion, naturally we went to Mom’s Silver Shop. And he wasn’t exaggerating. By far a superior shop to any others in the area (and likely the entire Sacramento Valley and beyond). I believe either my husband or I have visited every shop in the tri-​county area and this one tops them all. Most of our bullion purchases were online (APMEX, etc.) because of the scarcity of sufficiently stocked «brick and mortar» venues for purchasing precious metals. Until we found Mom’s Silver Shop.
This is not one of those shops where there’s a meager handful of random coins/​bars in one or two dusty showcases. «Mom» has an awesome selection (so much so that we walked out with more than we originally came to buy. :) The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable, as were their 3 adorable little dogs (mini dachshunds, I think) who gave us a very warm and friendly greeting as we were buzzed in. Even my husband, who doesn’t care much for small dogs, was charmed and couldn’t resist bending down and getting some love from these guys.
Mom’s Silver Shop’s prices are very competitive, and their selection of gold, silver, and copper was a veritable buffet of bullion and bars! No pushy salespeople here! Nor did they hover (at least not in any obtrusive way). «Mom» (Joyce) and John were very engaging and my husband and I both struck up conversations. Joyce pointed out items that she thought we’d be interested in – but didn’t try to push a sale. (Probably didn’t have to with us – I was like a kid in a candy store.) Our visit was more like visiting family than a business. We walked out with a bag of new treasures, and we look forward to our next visit. Husband’s birthday is coming up so Mom’s Silver Shop is definitely on the top of my list of stops on my birthday shopping run.
If you collect (or invest) in gold/​silver, etc., and if you haven’t paid Mom’s Silver Shop a visit then you’re missing out.

These people are probably the BEST local coin dealers in the surrounding Sacramento area. Every other place had unfriendly and pushy dealers tapping on the counter, hinting for you to either buy something or get out. Their prices are a bit higher than I wanted, but reasonably good if you buy in bulk.

Well I can’t really rate it as I would like to as I didn’t use their services or they didn’t offer what I was needing. But as far as their customer seservice goes, they were great.
I was buzzed in without waiting and greeted very professionally. When I asked if they did any jewelry repair they kindly replied no and I was not treated any different once they knew I wasnt going to use their services like other businesses do.
The only thing I can do is give them a 5 star rating on their customer service, but if in the future I decide or need their services I will give them first shot at it.

Awesome! Awesome! This place is great and so unlike all the other coin buyers/​sellers. Mom’s Silver Shop not only sells gold and silver but they buy it too. This shop it bright, open, and friendly a place I feel safe going into alone with my kids. It’s defiantly a family place run by a very nice family. Will return for years to come.

I am new to buying silver and Mom’s was the first place I visited to make my first purchase. Joyce and her son spent a great deal of time explaining the market and helping me make my first purchase. They helped me make the best choice for the type of investing that I wanted to do, without trying to upsell me. The atmosphere in the store is comfortable, and I felt as though I was among friends. Good hones people for sure. I am a small business owner and will continue to buy from them as well as recommend them to friends and family.

This isn’t your typical coin/​pawn type shop. It is extremely clean and nice and the older guy (sorry don’t know name) is super friendly and bends over backward to make you feel welcome — without being pushy. I took my 5yr old daughter here a few weeks back and he gave here a discounted clad coin coin and some coin chocolates, which were a huge hit.
They are very competitive when compared to places like apmex, especially once you factor in shipping costs, and if you spend $ 1500 and get no tax, it is a no brainer.
No shady business on pricing either; if you ask a price, he looks at the TV screen based on current spot and gives you an immediate answer. Great place.

Great selection. Great prices! And there really is a «Mom». The staff was super knowlegeable and really took their time with my 10 year old son who is an avid coin collector. They made his birthday purchase, extra special. We’ll be back for sure!
