Had a great time here! Up in sac for a conference and was looking for a great bar to hit up after the talks. Bartender was awesome, drinks were cheap, and the guy who was running the karaōke set up was great too. 10 out of 10 would recommend stopping by this place

So I was here with about 70 plus rowdy Newcastle United Fans, the outside is grim, but inside is dive bar tastic, the staff were first class hosts. The bar is what you’d expect. They don’t pretend to be anything else. Great place for a meet up.

This place played host for the Toon Army when Newcastle United Football Club had a match in Sacramento. This place was great cheap drinks and never that long of a wait with a full bar. The staff was friendly and very accommodating to our large group. Locals invited us back after the game to have drink. This is a dive bar, but it’s awesome dive bar. It is cash only.

This place is special… We needed a place to host a pregame drink when Newcastle played Sacramento. What more do you need? $ 3 and $ 4 beers? Tick. Friendly and accommodating bar and security staff? Tick. Lots of character? Tick. Jukebox? Tick. Sport TV? Tick. This is not in a place you would just«find», it’s tucked away on the wrong side of the tracks but it’s most certainly the fun side of the tracks. We drank from 2pm til nearly 7 and with the size of our group it just went great. If you’re a large party(+20) give them a call and they’ll get the right bar staff on too. Photos don’t do the place justice on its size.

The Mother Load is in serious contention for the worst dive bar in Sacramento. It’s neck and neck with Brownies and The Trap! It’s located on the wrong side of the freeway, deep in the un-wiped asshole of Arden. The place is surrounded by vacant lots, warehouses, dirt and weeds. This interior is cluttered with kitsch and crusty customers. There’s old laval lamps, worn barstools, dusty stuffed animals, cheap patio furniture and an interesting array of ornaments. It really is a sight to behold. The average age of the customers is probably in the 60s. They’re an amiable group without pretense and only seem interested in singing and drinking. The place is really fun. The bartender was fun, the sound system is great, and the geriatric crowd was really into the Karaōke(I like to call it Gerioke). If you’re in the mood for a dive, grab your swim trunks and take a plunge into the Mother Load.

I loathe to post a review here in fear that troves of «Yelpies» will congregate to this treasure chest of a dive bar and ruin its novelty but alas I can not resist. If you have ever been to those fabled«dive bars» with that non-pretentious and local atmosphere… you know what I’m talking about. The bartender and karaoketender are great and there is even an outdoor patio for smoker types. Off the beaten path so no need to worry about riffraff lingering outside. Drinks are reasonable priced and to be honest, you won’t find a more inviting bar anywhere near this locale. Enjoy. it’s a rare find in sactotown!

In town on biz. Looking for a dive bar. Found it. Eric, Didi, andLorna were very nice and accommodating(they stayed open 2 hours passed closing). Good service at a good price with great atmosphere and friendly clientele.

I love this place!!! It is my secret spot, I always feel welcome here! Kari the bartender makes fantastic drinks, and she is such a sweetheart!!! Rex the KJ knows how to make everyone sound good on the mic, and he has a killer sound system too. Combine that with a pool table and a huge outdoor patio, and you have your favorite neighborhood bar

A unique and special place. What more can one ask for of a great dive bar: Excellent drinks at a reasonable price, friendly bartenders, pool table, friendly owner and family, feeling of antiquity and history, enclosed and covered patio for smokers(with its own TV), superb karaōke DJ with almost any song and great set up for singers facing audience, amazing(did I say amazing) sound system, and integrated friendly patronage.

This is a great dive bar, especially for kareoke. They have a back patio that you can have a smoke and take your drink with you. The patrons are almost always friendly, kerri the bartender is awesome and when she picks up the mic for kareoke its amazing especially since she still serves drinks while singing. Rex the KJ is totally awesome and is over all just a great KJ This place is awesome.

Came here to sing karaōke. So we arrive and the place is pretty full. Luckily some lady at the bar makes some room for me and my girlfriend. I pick a song and wait for my turn to sing. So when I’m up I do notice the guy maning the music also has a microphone as well. I find out he also back sings which is nice cuz I was bombing my song. Haha. So for any nervous singers it’s nice to have.

Hello Everybody, I just wanted to say that mother lode is a really cool place. Off of the beaten path its quite the charmer. Eventful and happy I really feel something special here. The owners are very hospitable and kind. So much is lost with your traditional commercialized locals. But Motherlode offers a geniune approach to your nightly destinations. A true venue with compassion and high ranking service in mind. Thank you motherlode you have a raving fan.

Good drinks. Karaōke wed-sun til 2a. Some may call it a dive bar… I call it a small quaint and a home away from home while staying at a very close hotel.

Got to say The Motherload is probably hands down the coolest dive bar. I’ve lived is SF for 23 years and since the I.T. Moved in with hipster hair cuts and found that PBR, a handle bar mustache and cowboy hat go great together, SF has lost all verve. The MotherLode has every local holding down this western themed din. Thought I hated Karaōke but as every local taking turns at the mic. Very fun to sit back and watch the good, bad & ugly on vocals. Drinks, ok I’ve never seen an 8 count drink. The Adiós Mother F#%ker is just that. Adiós to your brain at I think $ 7 great prices, great pool table & just a great weekend away from the bay!!! Thanks The MotherLode. I’ll see you again soon!

My wife and I were eating dinner close by and Unilocaled for the closest karaōke bar and discovered the Mother Lode! Rolled in and met Jay. I am from the midwest and Jay is about as good as it gets. Friendly, attentive, I don’t think I had an empty glass at all. Rex was rocking karaōke, we enjoy singing and having fun(I run my own karaōke as a hobby for friends and parties) and he was top notch. My wife is from Sacramento and we were visiting family for 14 days… this night was one of our favorite(except Thanksgiving with all the food!) If you want a snobby marti bar… stay away… if you want a great time with great people at a resonable price… this is the spot.

Off the beaten path is the dive bar jewel called the Mother Lode. We hadn’t been to the Mother Lode in a while so we joined some Dive Bar Connoisseurs for a little a-drinky and a-singy at the Lode. Rex is still hosting the karaōke, he’s got blowup guitars and free prizes! Jay, the friendliest baertender in Sacramento, was still behind the bar being affable and attentive. Not much has changed since the last time we were there, and that’s what is so great about the Motherlode. It’s just a friendly neighborhood bar where you can have a couple drinks and forget your troubles for awhile. I enjoyed the regulars and all the karaōke singers. My wife and I did«Jackson» and I also sang Changes by David Bowie. I hope The Mother Lode never ch-changes. Look out you rock and rollers.
