On the Spot Mobile Grooming

Allison is awesome! She has always been on time. My dog loves her and always comes out looking great :)
Would highly recommend her.

I’ve used them twice before and was pretty satisfied with the service. My cat looked great and all was well.
However, they seem to have issues with scheduling practices. I called last week for an appointment. No one answered during business hours so I left a message. No one returned my call. So I called another company and made an appointment right away with a very professional sounding woman. I’m keeping that appointment and will see how things go. This morning (5 days after my initial attempt to contact them) I got a call from On The Spot. The man told me that he was running late. ??? Umm… No one called me back so I went elsewhere. I didn’t have an appointment with On The Spot. I wouldn’t have made an appointment for a time when I’m not home and I wouldn’t have double booked for this service. It’s just weird.
To his credit, the man who called was as confused as I was and very apologetic. I don’t have a problem with the quality of service or the civility of the employees. I have a serious problem with this demonstration of disorganization.

I used On The Spot Dog Groomers for the first time yesterday and they are terrific. When I called they asked a lot about my dog and shared that the groomer they were sending had 3 years of experience. The gentlemen (I’m assuming owner) that I talked with indicated he personally goes out on all appointments the first week he hires a new groomer so he can ensure everything goes well for their customers.
I got a same day appointment for my desired time, the groomer (Allison) arrived on time and best of all she was terrific with my dog. My doxie, Roxy is a biter and she handled her with great care. Her hair cut turned out great. Some of the groomers I’ve used in the past crate the dog before he/​she is seen. This can cause unnecessary stress for the pet. I love that they bring their service directly to your door. I work from home so it was especially convenient to not even have to miss work to take advantage of their grooming service.
The service is a little more than usual, but it was totally worth it and I will most definitely use On The Spot Dog Groomers exclusively in the future.

Bad, Bad, ALL BAD. I would suggest you Run. This Mobile Dog Grooming Business
is lacking in every area. It felt wrong from the Start. A young Man showed up at our Door and took our little Dog into a van for a Bath and Trim. 1 hour later I go out to the van to see if they are done and find the Groomer on the otherside of the Van Smoking and talking on the Phone. I can hear our little Dog panting heavily inside.
I figure he must be about done and go back inside. After a half hour, I go back out and the Groomer is still Smoking and talking on the Phone. He tells me he is on a Break. I ask if the dog is done and he says he just finished Bathing her. 1 ½ hours and he had only accomplished a Bath. Our little Dog was left inside, alone in a strange place strapped to a table and panting heavily. He proceeds to tell Me the Dog was badly Matted and that they charge $ 80. for that. THE DOG WAS NOT MATTED AT ALL! At this Point, I tell him I want my dog Now! Pay him and tell him to leave. It was a very unsettleing experience for Me as well as our Little Dog. The saddest Part, she went inside and Hid. I wanted to Cry. I will now learn to do my own Grooming. This experience has scared us away from Groomers. AVOID THIS COMPANY.
On a side note: The Groomer asked Me to write the Cheque out to an Individual and not, ON THE SPOT MOBILE GROOMING. Which in my Opinion calls into Question weather this Business is actually Registered/​Licenced.

PROS — OK, lets start with the good news, the point of the mobile grooming service is that they come to you and groom your dog right outside your home, so it’s super convenient! Unlike my previous groomers, I had to get up early and drop my dog off at 8am! And leave him there almost all day! So their service was fast in comparison, I’d say they were done in a little over an hour. The charge was $ 60 the first time for wash and cut, and they clean the ears and trim the nails too. Personally, I think the extra cost is worth it for the convenience. On the Spot is a good pet service… they like animals and are friendly, and my dog seemed pleased with his haircut. =)
CONS — They showed up nearly 2 HOURS late for my appt… and tried to charge an extra $ 15 because my dog had matted hair (lots of knots) even though I already went through and cut off the knots and combed him before his appt. However, I was able to waive the $ 15 because they were so late. The total cost is more expensive than regular groomers. Also they kept my dogs collar and leash by accident! It’s been months and I still haven’t gotten it back.
P. S. — I talked to the owner and he said the price is negotiable for future visits if I become a regular customer, so that’s definitely something I think you should try and negotiate if you get your dog/​cat groomed regularly.

Okay, I seriously have no idea how to rate something like this. Let’s start with calling the number I found via google/​yelp. Nobody ever picks up, I called 4 separate times during their hours of operation. I left a message and two days later I got a voicemail from a lady who gave me her cell phone number. I called her twice, once leaving my number, she never called me back. Two more days after that, a different lady calls me. We made an agreement for her to come to my house at 2:30. She was 30 minutes late, but luckily I had nothing else to do. She was friendly and caring enough, but there was a dog in the van and we had agreed to do a cat bath and shave. I thought that was kind of inconsiderate. But what was most important is the fact that my cat wasn’t harmed in any way and it was a quick process (she quoted an hour, it took about 40 minutes). Any pet owner knows that handing your pet (cat, dog, etc) over to a stranger who wants to make money is disconcerting. But I felt that she took good care of my cat, dog or not. It is expensive though, $ 70 for one cat’s bath and shave + tip. But keeping your furry one’s discomfort to a minimum is what is most important to me. The fact that they come to your house and do it all in a van is great.
