This place is still delicious!!! It appears their business has slowed down a lot because at one time, they were closed randomly and quite frequently cause they didn’t have crawfish avail but they appear to be open and have LIVECRAWFISH all the time now. U can always call in to see if they are open before coming in. Give this place another try. You won’t regret it!

It’s not what it used to be I can say that. Pretty sure there’s been many owners since it opened up. Interior is nice and big, an under the sea kind of feel but with no customers and people staring strangely at you as you pull up to the driveway gives an awkward first experience. In Unilocal,it says they close at 9 so I felt bad after checking in because their front door says 10pm. When we ordered. Normally, the server(at any crawfish place that i’ve been to) would bring you bibs and gloves. This place however just brought us out two plates, two salt & pepper premixed sauce cups, and a thing of limes. Sooo we made napkins into our bibs. We didn’t even know or get a heads up that if we wanted extra napkins, bibs, or gloves, that it was a «go get it yourself at the bar area.» To rate the food: Cajun Fries: definitely NOT Cajun fries like how they’re supposed to be. It was just deep fried French fries with a light sprinkle of «Cajun» seasoning. Don’t get me wrong, the fries would be good as REGULAR fries but not be called Cajun at all. They’re also largely cut so texture was nice. Clams: Great marinade, not too rubbery, AND most of them had clam meats inside the shells, unlike other places that give you a whole lot more of the empty shells. Though, the sauce was a little too sweet and near the end too salty, maybe they need to mix the sauce and seasonings more before serving it. 1 Lb mix of crawfish, prawns, & sausages: Seasoning, I can make probably better if not the same at home. Marinade mix didn’t sit inside the prawns or crawfish where you can just suck the sauce out of those babies. Peeled everything on the prawns because it was just like basically eating plain, boiled, shrimp. We ordered Cajun spicy and was no where near spicy for the level it was ranked. The crawfish weren’t fresh, they were more on the light red orange color so they were either dead prior and/or frozen. The prawns were for sure frozen because it sits clearly inside of a freezer where you can see while passing to get to the restrooms. No check ups on refills with our waters too.

Oh man, where do I start. On Valentine’s Day we wanted to go to boiling crab but the wait was 3 hours long so we decided we would try sac crawfish out. We went in very optimistic. We were seated immediately and were given menus. We waited for about 10 minutes for someone to return to us. It was not very busy at all. After we went to the counter thinking maybe we had to order up there they said someone would take our order. We ordered our food. It took very long to come out and the last forgot our drinks. We saw the chef come out and pull out a box brand of crawfish from the freezer(so it’s not fresh). We had ordered sausage with some of our meals and they were frozen in the middle. The shrimp we got was not good at all. You could hardly pull the skin off .The table next to us never received one of their dishes and the lady apologized and said she gave it to another table. When we went to go pay the lady was upset that we wanted to split our checks and said it wasn’t convenient for her but she finally gave in. The day after I looked at my bank account and had been charged THREE times amounting to over a hundred dollars. We really wanted to like this place but it was terrible. We will not go back again.

I come here at least once a week because their sauce is really delicious. The best Cajun sauce in my opinion compared to firehouse, crab city, and boiling crab. Ok, so this place is a hole in the wall, only accept cash, is a little more over priced, and sometimes have terrible service. BUT, I will overlook all of these things because they have THEBESTSAUCE. There is something addicting about the smell and taste of their Cajun sauce, I can literally just drink it up. A really bad place because I come here once a week. And I believe they close on Tuesdays. If you’re willing to overlook those things as well, you can become addicted too. Otherwise, I’d stick to firehouse :)

Not awesome but if you just want Crawfish, it will do. We headed over here because we are rookies and were scared off by the long wait at Boiling Crab. Reviews said this spot had crab too so we figured we would give it a try. Everything was $ 12.99/pound but they didn’t have any sort of crab… it was scrabbled out on their menus. We did a pound of crawfish, pound of clams, pound of shrimp and some corn and sausage up in our boil. The sauce was good and spicy, heavy on garlic, and not as salty as I expected(based on what I read from some of the pickier reviewers). I was good with it but we did order it mild and there were a few in our group that were complaining about the heat level. Sodas are canned so there are no refills. Cajun fries are the furthest thing from«Cajun» and we ordered a couple orders of chicken nuggets for the little set in the tribe. Seven heads fed for about $ 90. Bummer that they don’t serve rice or baguettes. It would have been awesome to have something to mop up that sauce at the end of the meal.

Come here regularly, even just to order to go. They have only one kind of sauce avail but it’s better than boiling crab and other seafood place around. Think the cash only throws off some customers. You know it’s good when you see workers at Boiling crab eating there.

I’m reviewing on the orders my aunt brought home. She brought home two bags of crawfish with corn and sausages. Food: The crawfishes were average sizes to humongous sizes. The corn was delicious and flavorful. I forget about them since there’s Boiling Crab near them, but I would say try them out. Not the most popular crawfish place anymore. I can only tell you how my experience was with the take home crawfish and I loved it.

Cash only place. Open everyday but Tuesday. This place is very lonesome and will only get a few tables at a time. They have clams, crawfish, shrimp, and crab. Only one sauce at this place, and you can choose from mild, medium, spicy. Make sure you ask for extra extra spicy for those whole like their food hot. Service is basically, take your order, drop off food, and pay at the counter. Don’t expect five star service. Overall I love the sauce, and that’s something I crave once in awhile.

Came here on a Friday night because both Boiling Crab and Firehouse Crawfish were packed. Didn’t regret this place one bit. No wait to be seated. Great atmosphere. The best part was the flavors. They were on point with their flavors and I would say better than both Firehouse and Boiling Crab!

They have best sauce but lack in service and vibe/décor and their prices are extremely high even during craw dad seasons $ 11.99 all year round!!! Wtf

Honestly surprised this place can stay in business with boiling crab and firehouse crawfish in its vicinity. Smh: There was only one kind of sauce, broth based not butter based. They didn’t have rice. Fries were obviously frozen. All seafood prices were listed as «seasonal.» Hate asking in the first place, but what’s worse was that the servers didn’t speak English and miscommunicated with us about the price(or they just decided to charge us more last minute, who knows). Food was edible, but they need SO much more improvement before they can join the ranks of other cajun/creole restaurants. With better options avaliable, I wouldn’t return.

This place is a shit hole. I would never attempt an outing at this place again. Terrible food, even worse service.

Less crowded and easy to get a table. We went here because the wait at Boiling Crab was over an hour long. At first we were the only people there aside from what looked to be the owner’s friends. It was ~12 for a pound of crawfish and ~13 for a pound of shrimp. The shrimp were fresh. The interior decoration is interesting… we were eating in the dark for quite some time though… BUT because they had big windows that allow for adequate natural lighting when the sun was up, we didn’t know we were eating in the dark until they turned on the lights… and suddenly the restaurant was flooded with light, and my mom said with wonder on her face, a shrimp in her hand, «it’s so bright…» It took a long time for the food to come out though, but at the same time they cook to order(food came out really hot). 3 stars because the food was good for what it was(boiled seafood in a sauce). We all wished they spent money on bibs… the foam plates, I think, are unnecessary since there is paper on the table… they could probably switch the plates for bibs. And invest in some real cups instead of use foam cups. I think more people would take their messy kids here if they provided bibs to customers. I like stronger sauces so I kept adding lime/pepper/salt to mine. The Fish and Chip appetizer only had two pieces of fish in it which was kinda disappointing(I read on a previous Unilocal review that theirs had 3 pieces of fish). Overall the atmosphere of the restaurant was kinda sad because there was only 1 other table there by the time we left. Makes me wonder how they stay in business. Had to flag down people to get service and the bill. A guy did come by once for a water refill. Overall though I think I would recommend to come here if you plan on ordering just shrimp and/or want to avoid the lines at similar places. The shrimp was good and tasted fresh. Just don’t wear nice clothes ’cause they don’t provide bibs.

I have been here several times and their crawfish was delicious every single time. However, bad service and long wait for the food. The restaurant looks dirty too. I would come back but order take-out only. «No spicy» to them is mildly spicy so keep that in mind.

Hmmmmm this place is very interesting. Their business hours are inconsistent. Also like most asian restaurants/stores, they only accept CASH. Besides the two cons I’ve mentioned. I would pick this restaurant over Boiling Crab any day. I love their garlic sauce. It’s soooo delicious! The sauce doesn’t make me feel dehydrated after eating for awhile and that’s a big plus.

My friends and myself were originally going to Boiling Crab, but we were on the«No Guarantee» list(Firehouse Crawfish was closed as well). We decided to give this place a shot as we were craving for«Boiling Crab» style of food. Upon entry, place was deserted, only 2 other tables were occupied and a bunch of owner’s friends at the bar area(9:15pm). Got seated right away and was handed small styrofoam cups, plastic plates and the menu. Menu was similar to Boiling crab’s menu. This is where the downhill begins. I ordered 1lb of shrimp with corn, and the waiter said they were out of corn. My friend ordered 1lb of clams with the garlic noodles, and the waiter literally said, «Sorry, we do not have garlic noodles, they are too hard to make.» Are you kidding me? Why would you have it on the menu if it is too hard to make? And to think it can not get any worse, one of my friends asked if they had rice because it was not on the menu, waiter says, «Sorry we do not serve rice, if you want rice, there is a Thai restaurant next door and we can pick it up.» This has got to be a joke right? I tried to give the benefit of doubt that the quality of the food would be better than the service, so I ordered half a dozen of raw oysters, fries and chicken wings. After 20 – 30 minutes, raw oysters came out. 2 extremely big pieces and 4 really small pieces. Oysters were not cut, and some were hard and frozen. My friend complained after miserably eating 1 rocked frozen oyster. Waiter took away oyster tray with 4 oysters left(3 frozen, 1 large one). Around 10 – 15 minutes later, the waiter came back with a oyster tray with 3 small oysters. One missing. Next, we got our 1lb of shrimp. The shrimps and sauces were flavorless and not spicy at all. To make things worse, I found a hair or black plastic wrap inside my shrimp bag. I called the waiter over and he apologized and asked if I would like a new one? I said no because I didn’t want to wait 15 minutes for the remake. After getting all of our orders of shrimps and clams, we eventually got our fries and chicken wings(should have been before the entrée). The chicken wings were puny and flavorless; they were as small as the shrimps. The fries looked exactly like something I could have bought from Costco, and microwave, seriously. The only good thing that I ate were the clams, but I had better. My friends and myself decided to not tip them because of the horrible service and the poor quality of the food. As asked for the bill, the waiter apologized to us about the oysters and the black looking thing in my shrimp, and decided to not charge us for the oysters($ 9.99/half dozen). We came to an agreement to tip them 10% since he took the oysters out. DEFINITELYDONOTRECOMMEND coming to this place EVER even if Boiling Crab or Firehouse Crawfish is closed. If waiter did not take oysters out of the bill, we were not going to tip at all. What a waste of a good day to end with such a bad experience at Sac Crawfish. Next time, my friends and I will take our chances with the«No Guarantee» list at Boiling Crab than come here.

It’s been about 2 years since I’ve last visited Sac Crawfish. It was never my intention to come the other night, but both Boiling Crab and Firehouse Crawfish were packed with a line. I decided to go to Sac Crawfish since I needed to satisfy my cravings. We were the only customers at 7pm on a Saturday evening. We were greeted and got to pick where we wanted to sit in the empty restaurant. The girl dropped off some menus and later came back and took our order. The food came out fairly quick which made me happy. However, they really lack on service here. They don’t really engage with their customers or even ask if everything is okay with the food. She literally only came to our table twice – once to take our order and once to drop off the food. We ordered 1lb of shrimp and added two corns and two sausages. The sauce seemed to have changed from the previous years. Its more butter based now rather than coconut based like before, and not as flavorful. Their spice levels have also decreased significantly. I remember«spicy» being so hot that sweat would start forming on my face, and my tongue would burn for a while! But when I ordered spicy this time, it tasted more like ‘mild’.

I’m not sure what happened to this place but it is NOT good! I came back to give it a try, because ever since Firehouse Crawfish opened up, I stopped coming here. I went to FC and it was super packed with a 30 minute wait so I figured it was a good day to come back to sac crawfish. They redecorated the place and looks better! I ordered the crawfish and shrimp and it took FOREVVVVERRRR to come out! I can’t stress that enough! I waited 45 minutes for my food to come out and those who knows sac crawfish, knows its never that busy!!! AND I can tell that the crawfish and shrimp were frozen! It wasn’t fresh. Why did I have to wait so long for food that wasn’t fresh? I was very upset… Mad that I didn’t just wait at firehouse! But at least I know to never come back. Oh and still Cash Only!

Entering Sacramento Crawfish I did not know what to expect. The guy that greeted and seated us seemed more than a little disassociated, and the interior is so tacky as to make the worst decorated fish and chips restaurant seem totally chic in comparison. I guess all interior designers are not created equal. Next we get these extremely limited menus. The lines from the song that goes«should I stay or should I go now» started running through my head. We ended up ordering a pound of shrimp with corn and sausage and a pound of king crab legs, both with extra spicy sauce. We would have liked some fried shrimp or some fried clams to go with them but their fried menu is extremely limited so we settled for a side of sweet potato fries. The sauce was delicious. I have been to the boiling crab and I think their sauce tastes like salt so I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful flavor of the sauce. Both the shrimp and the crab seemed fairly fresh tasting as well. I loved the flavor of the sauce but it did have enough of a kick to get me to drink a couple of imported beers(3.50) and a glass of water that I had to ask for so if you cannot handle spicy food I would suggest you order the medium sauce. A couple of other items of note: The Boiling Crab gives you a piece of junk cracker from the dollar tree to crack your crab while Sacramento Crawfish provides you with a very sharp and efficient pair of shears that work really well. Secondly, if you have fat fingers like me, don’t even try to get your fingers into their one size fits all gloves.
