Great place to hear local poets. If fiction is more your thing, Stories on Stage is the last Friday of the month — local actors do readers-​theatre-​style readings of local authors. $ 5 donation and there’s usually a raffle ($ 1 per raffle ticket) with signed copies of the book as the prize.

I love opportunities to revel in the spoken word. My friend Michael Grosse (aka «The Angry Poet» — or one of them anyways) is who I credit getting me into the Sacramento poetry scene.
SETUP
There are many different forums and venues that bring together this movement, but I have to say that the Sacramento Poetry Center is consistently one of the best.
Located in Midtown Sacramento, they assemble a collection of very talented individuals and forums that discuss and perform poetry. Each night has different functions including workshops, readings and other get-​togethers. Check the schedule online to get the most recent information.
THE LOWDOWN
Truly one of the best locations for enjoying the poetry of the spoken word.

Great little space! Bringing new and wonderful entertainment to Sacramento for affordable prices! I have been to a variety show and author readings. I plan on going back again!
