Saint John’s is for the mother who wants to make the leap. Who is ready to fight the pervasive influence of homelessness, poverty, and abuse — and win.
Since our founding on the steps of St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1985, Saint John’s has been the unique solution for the woman who is ready to fight the cycle of homelessness, poverty, and abuse. The woman who understands, unequivocally, that the journey towards a better life — for herself and for her family — starts entirely with her.
We provide mental health services, housing, transportation, children’s programs, career education, and on-the-job training through Plates Café and Catering, Plates2go, and First Steps Child Development Center, so mothers become empowered to embark on a path towards independence and success.
History
Established in 1985.
Based on more than a quarter-century’s worth of experience, we know what our clients need to become self-sustaining. And it’s much more than just being housed, clothed and fed. It’s giving mothers real love so they can finally learn to love themselves. It’s helping them fully realize their potential. It’s establishing a sense of self-worth and readiness for the real world.
