DO NOT RENT HERE!!! I give 1 stars for the fact that I love the look of my apartment and property but management is lacking!
My roommate and I originally signed out lease under a woman named misty she was one of the main reason we decided to rent here besides the fact that the apartments here are so nice. Well it is now under new management. I have had several problems with my garbage disposal and shower. My roommates shower clogged the 2^nd month living there. I even needed a part replaced in my shower and was told by The manager that it would replaced within that week once the ordered part arrived. Weeks later my shower would not turn on and He had forgotten to replace the part. No big deal. I was out of a shower for two days and resulted to using my roommates. I was extremely nice about the situation and didn’t make a fuss. Well this last week my downstairs flooded completely from the kitchen sink. I had been showering and running the washer. My roommate and I call Him and let him know the emergency. He tells us he’s in a meeting and that no one would be there until 4 to clean it up it fix the issue. Mind you this is at 1130 am. My roommate and I are taken aback by the lack of urgency and concern at the fact that our apartment had just flooded! The cabinets and drawers were filled with water. I had to slip and slide in the water (a hazard) just to dump the water filled drawers outside. We used all the towels we had blankets etc to clean up as much water we could. My college textbooks were damaged in the process out dining room table. There is a plug near the table that had a things plugged in that had been compromised by the water and we had to take caution in cleaning the water near it. 330pm rolls around and Alex comes to finally check on us and he proceeds to accuse us of clogging the sink and leaving the water running. Did not ask if anything of ours was damaged or if we’re ok. He just assumed we were that ignorant to just let out apartment flood. Granted, he had not sent anyone to the residence to clean up or check out what had happened. No one was sent to our residence until 630pm and he had said that the flooding happened when I took a shower. I had told the manager this earlier and he proceeded to argue with me and tell me that it was our fault it couldn’t have come from my shower and we clogged the sink. We lived in an unsafe water condition for 8 hours afraid to even flush a toilet in case another flood happened. The manager could not be bothered by this because we broke the sink and let it flood. The manager then tells us that the work order states that the the shower was clogged and so was the sink from food and hair. He then blames us for the clogging however we’ve lived there for 7 months and have had so many issues with the showers and sink. I have contacted westcal management about the situation and have not received a response. My roommate and I have received several rude and even threatening text messages from him about the damage stating that if we go through his boss we will responsible for the damages. I will provide those messages on here so you can make a judgment on whether you want to deal with a manager like him. My roommate an I have only been living here since May and have had so many problems and this is the icing on the cake. We now will be contacting an attorney because apparently were criminals in this situation and not paying tenants. I have not included his name here so that I can preserve what little dignity he has left. But I warn you now do not rent here under his management. It’s a shame because it’s such a nice property.

Lived in this complex for about 2 months and have really enjoyed my home. Alex (property manager) has been fantastic to work with and extremely accessible. Neighbors are polite and the complex is quiet (dual pane windows help). Check it out!

I am a resident physician at UC Davis Medical Center. I lived at Sierra for one year and I have to say that it is one of the best managed apartment complex in the Arden-​arcade region. First of all, the apartments here are very well priced. It is much cheaper than other apartments with in-​unit washer and dryer. The complex is really new, and this is reflected in the new appliances and style of the place (no popcorn ceiling, great layout). The bathroom is really generous in size and definitely wheel chair accessible. Security alarms come standard in each unit which made me feel really safe. Although it is on a busy street, you really don’t hear anything once the widows are closed. There are single car garages for rent if you want a designated parking. Best of all is the manager, Branden. He is super cool, responsible and very accommodating with great professional manners. Overall I highly recommend this place.

I have lived here from 2007 – 2012 and have generally been unhappy about the living arrangements here, but stayed because of the close proximity to the CSUS campus and my work. The grounds are well kept, but there are problems that add up.
The community is gated, so you «feel» safe about your car, but there is very little parking available (only one spot per unit, if you have an extra car or friends coming over you’ll have to park on the street). I have seen broken car windows even inside the gated community, and have personally told homeless people to stop dumpster diving, threatening to call the police if they don’t leave immediately. (They’re probably trying to find cans/​plastic, but with identity theft, you have to protect yourself) The main gate consistently breaks down, and is unresponsive to the wireless remote given to tenants. Before they implemented permit parking I constantly had to park along the street, and had my own car’s window broken for $ 2.00 in change (leaving me to pay $ 200.00 out of my own pocket for repairs).
The tenants are friendly, but the complex sits on Fulton Ave which is bustling with car activity/​noise. I have heard people fighting in the streets after midnight, and have even called the police several times. There was a shooting in the apartment complex across the street, and have witnessed half a dozen car chases with police barreling down Fulton Ave. You will consistently hear fire-​truck/​police/​ambulance sirens drive right past the complex, along Fulton Ave throughout all hours of the day/​night.
Overall the apartments are in good condition, and the leasing office has sent maintenance in a timely manner when I’ve asked for it, but you pay a higher rent compared to other apartments along the same street (a 1-​bedroom at Sierra Lofts costs more than a 2-​bedroom apartment at other apartment complexes). In my opinion, the high rent does not warrant living in such a neighborhood, and I am glad to be moving away.
