My fiancé and I shopped around at a few different jewelers for our wedding bands and came back to Skalet because they set themselves apart in a few key ways. No other jeweler:
–was as knowledgeable or thorough on what to consider when purchasing wedding bands
–understood our vision for the custom design of my wedding band
–reiterated the practicality that must be incorporated into design
We worked with both Adam and Howard on different occasions in the process of designing my wedding band. Both followed up over email and were even able to send us digital drafts of what they would create — their software was unbelievable! It took about 2.5 weeks to create the ring. What was more unbelievable was the final product. I am blown away with how gorgeous my wedding band is and that Skalet exceeded every one of my expectations with what I communicated for the design of my ring. They did an amazing job. Thank you so much!

I sold several items to this Family jewelers. The prices were fair and was treated with the upmost respect. I will be purchasing a diamond and will not go anywhere else from now on. Really nice people Can see why they have been in business for so long! Thank you Howard!

I’m late in writing this review but wanted to share my wonderful experience with this jeweler. I got married in January and had a ring that kept slipping and turning to the side and wanted it fixed. Tried several jewelers here in town and spent $$ only to find the same problem no matter what i tried. I searched and found Skalet on Unilocal and will ONLY go here for future jewelry and /​or issues. From first contact I felt sure they were the ones that could fix my issue. I drove from Benicia to Sacramento and was sooo happy with the job that was done. Not only did Todd know EXACTLY what i was talking about but he knew EXACTLY what i wanted and nailed it perfectly. The biggest thing was I didn’t have to leave it. Todd finished in about an hour. WOW! Thanks to Todd my ring has bling and stays put on my finger. He sized and soldered it the way in invisioned and it turned out even better. I walked away very satisfied and feeling that I have finally found a jeweler that cares about the customer and treats them with respect and courtesy. Thanks Skalet!!! and TODD

Took my wife’s engagement ring in to get a stone replaced which had fallen out. The jewelers are very knowledgeable and helpful as well as being certified gemologists. They were able to match the stone which was a little tricky to get right due to the color and type. The price was very reasonable and they gave us great advice on how to keep the ring clean in the future. I highly recommend this place for repairs or if you are in the market for some jewelry. Great honest people!

our first trip to look at wedding rings. :) both brothers were so nice and informative, that helped us understand how to start looking and decide what types of rings we might want based on the way we wear them. the best part was they took a break from actually making jewelry to show us around the place! neat to know the folks you’re talking to are serious about their craft. they have beautiful pieces made in house and host great artists for the types of stuff they don’t make :)

My husband came here to pick out the diamond for my engagement ring 2 years ago with the thought that I would be able to design my own ring after he proposed. They were really great and gave him a Tiffany band to use until the time came when he popped the question.
Fast forward a coupe weeks, he proposed and we went in the next weekend to discuss my custom setting. The minute we walked in we were greeted by Howard who knew instantly why we were there. He congratulated us and made us feel like we were the only customers he has ever helped! He then proceeded to spend the next hour with us as I talked about what type of ring I was interested in. Did I mention that they were going to MAKE my custom ring?! Howard knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to put my vision into a real life dream. We left that day and were told to come back in 2 weeks (which I thought was very reasonable).
Needless to say, two weeks goes by and we come back in to pick it up. I was stunned at the quality of work and craftsmanship of this one of a kind ring. I have since been in to have my ring cleaned and polished for FREE several times and they generally are able to accommodate within 20mins.
Hey, when your ring looks as amazing as mine, you need to keep it shiny!

Don’t bring your antique jewelry here.
I came on a rainy day after visiting my husband at his office, hoping to get a recently purchased antique ring re-​sized. I was condescended to by the ‘gentleman’ who was behind the counter. For some reason he felt, after flat out telling me they could not re-​size my ring and that I would «have a hard time» finding anyone who could, that he should explain to me how rings are re​-sized​.as if my understanding (or as he apparently assumed, my lack thereof) somehow affects their ability to re-​size a gilded ring. I was then told that not only would it be difficult to have it re-​sized, but that due to it’s shape, it would most likely pull the band from the setting. The antique dealer who sold me the ring in London said no such thing, and in fact, very plainly told me that I should have no issues in getting it re-​sized. I also made the apparently grave mistake of calling it a ‘gemstone,’ after which he corrected me and began to explain that the «stone» would be damaged if they attempted to identify it. Un​-real​.as if the man had never heard of a loupe (or a microscope for that matter). I left politely, still in a bit of shock.
I went back to my usual jeweler which is much closer to my own office, and after having their artists look at it, they were able to re-​size the ring with NO problems. It’s gorgeous and fits perfectly. And they were able to confirm my suspicion regarding the identity of the ‘stone’ without breaking it into pieces.

Unilocal has done it again by finding me a great place to do some service for me. I am in no way an expert in jewelry repair and walking into a fine shop like Skalet Jewelers was a little intimidating. My wife had a ring to re-​size and the staff was so helpful and assuring and to top it off the ring was done earlier than expected. Price was fair and the work was excellent. The wife was happy to daddy is happy. I will defiantly be visiting them again and referring friends and family. Thank you Skalet Jewelers.

After surveying various options in the area, I dropped by Skalet to have my ring re-​sized. We were lucky enough to get a 15-​minute parking spot right in front.
I was surprisingly able to get my ring back same day. Extremely satisfied with the customer service and work done on my ring!
I don’t have many rings that need service, but I would no doubt come back if needed.

I don’t typically write reviews, but I had such a good experience at Skalet, that i had to create an account.
Prior to visiting Skalet, I used Unilocal to help me decide where to take my wife’s ring to have it re-​sized. After reading some of the reviews, i decided to give them a call.
Howard took my call and was very pleasant and informative. My main concern was the method used to re-​size. I didn’t want the ring to look damaged or deformed. Howard informed me that they typically cut the ring and add more gold to it and he also informed me that the ring would not look deformed or damaged. He answered all of my questions without using any sales tactics and i decided to take my wife’s ring in that same day.
Howard was very diligent, did not rush me at all, and we got all of the measurements we needed to have my wife’s ring re-​sized one size up.
He even polished my wife’s wedding band that i had brought with me to take measurements at no charge. My wife said it looked like new!
We got a call the following day (originally, i was told it would take 2 days) that my wife’s ring was ready.
Adam helped us out this time. He was very friendly and we even chatted about his custom pen (lol). Howard was with another client but he took the time to greet my wife and I.
The ring looks amazing! (kudos to Todd!) you can’t even tell that any work had been done to it, let alone, no signs that it was cut or re-​sized. Truly great work and best of all, my wife was happy.
Unfortunately, the ring wasn’t purchased there. i didn’t know about them until after I had purchased my ring. Next time we’re in the market to purchase a ring, they will definitely be our first stop.
By the way, most of their rings are custom made so you know that what you’re getting is unique. They really have a great selection so i highly recommend them.
Overall, i can’t say enough good things about Skalet Jewelers. Please do yourself a favor and check them out next time you’re in the market to buy a new ring or have work done to yours.

I had a great shopping experience at Skalets, the service was quick, the selection is large and very beautiful. My fiancé loved the ring I picked out. The ring was a bit too large, so we took it back to have it sized, Howard had it done in less than an hour. It really was a pleasure to shop here, thank you guys!

What a lovely experience! They have fantastic jewelry — new, vintage, and estate — at many different price ranges.
I came in to have my wedding ring and a diamond band redipped in rhodium. I came just minutes before closing on a Saturday night and they were ready before noon the following day, all for an excellent price. They look just fabulous, and the woman who helped me both times was just so sweet and patient.
I’ll definitely come back when it’s time for another piece. I was sad to see the jeweler who designed my wedding ring (Jeannie’s Jewelry Creations) close up shop after her retirement, so I was looking for a reliable alternative for repairs and new purchases. Looks like I found it!

We went into this shop looking for a men’s wedding band. The store owner greeted us promptly and was very friendly; not like a salesmen, but a normal person.
The shop had a great selection of real quality, custom pieces. They also had several really great antique/​heritage/​estate pieces. They were priced well, but obviously they’re going to cost more than a random jeweler in the mall. You’re getting a great service from a local family, not a nation-​wide jewelry chain.
The owner also offered to clean my wife’s engagement ring free of charge.
Great, clean, friendly shop. Highly recommended. The people who work there know about jewelry of all eras and styles. Not the typical «let me sell you the biggest diamond we have» salesman.

I needed my engagement ring resized a full size down. My fiancé looked up jewelers in the area and Skalet Family Jewelers had amazing reviews with quite a few needing resized rings like me. We took the ring in and the jeweler looked at it carefully. He noted the inscription on the inside (Song of Solomon 2:16) and saw how it was in the middle of the band but that the band needed to be brought down a full size. Even with this knowledge I felt completely confident in him. I picked it up 5 days later and it looked even better than when we first got it. They sized it perfectly and shined it so it looked even more gorgeous. Howard even helped me look at wedding bands to find what matched the unique band on the engagement ring. This is a great place and I highly recommend it!

Had a ring sized here. Howard not only took the time to talk to me and my boyfriend, the ring also fit perfectly and you couldn’t even tell it had been resized, all for a very reasonable price. :) will definitely be returning in the future.

They crafted my ring exactly how I wanted it and helped me get exactly what I wanted within a budget that worked for us.
They were gracious, patient, had fantastic advice and guidance. A wonderful resource and fantastic artists.
They are also willing to give you good advice even if it costs them money. I suggested I might want a wedding band for my ring and they actually advised me against it to retain the overall look intended. You don’t find that often.

After a visit to the California State Railroad Museum and lunch at a local restaurant we happened upon Skalet Family Jewelers. The inside of the shop has dark hardwood floors and many glass displays of the most beautiful diamonds, rubies, pearls, etc. Upon entering the shop we were greeted by the friendly lady behind the counter. Ever since I was a little girl– I loved the color pink, jewelry (most specifically rings) and things that sparkled. I took my time and looked at all their jewelry, they have new pieces, estate pieces and custom pieces. I inquired if they had any art deco diamond rings set in an illusion setting– I once had a ring like that but misplaced it, they didn’t have any. Howard the owner was the person who helped me. I found a couple diamond rings that I liked. I really wasn’t planning on making a purchase.
They have good quality diamonds at Skalet Family Jewelers. I found a diamond ring that was gorgeous (VVS1) and reasonably priced. Howard sized my finger and wrote up my bill. There were two options– pay half or pay in full. Howard cleaned my Tiffany & Company wedding band (Migraine Platinum 2 mm wide) and my T&C Engagement ring (The Tiffany Setting) before I left the shop (he offered and it was complimentary). Two weeks later, Howard called as promised to let me know my ring was ready.
Came into the shop, tried on the ring. Since, I paid in full prior– Howard boxed up my new diamond ring and I was on my way. Excellent customer service, quality craftsmanship make Skalet Family Jewelers a favorite in my Unilocal Notebook. It’s nice to find a good quality family owned business!

Skalet recently soldered my wife’s engagement and wedding rings together.
We had a little bit of trouble because they closed early on the day we were supposed to pick them up, so we had to come back the next day. They were very apologetic and actually compensated us for the time we’d wasted driving down on the day they closed early.
The work they did was beautiful and I’m very grateful that they compensated us for the wasted time — this definitely made it right in my book!

I went here to have a loose stone looked at (a ring from a different jeweler) and the owner was extremely informative and honest. I was very very happy with their customer service and their repair expertise. He spoke to us for at least 15 minutes about all of our options before having us make a final decision on what we wanted to do.

Choosing a jeweler can be a bit like choosing a significant other. You want someone who is trustworthy, honest, responsible, communicates well and has a great personality. Skalet, will you marry me? Just kidding.
I was searching for a local jeweler to help with with some appraisal work. I typically exclusively deal with a company in Texas, but they actually recommended Skalet Family Jewelers because they were closer for this particular project.
I received excellent service from the minute I made my appointment, all through the closing of our deal.
This particular day I was having a crazy morning and I was worried about how the appointment would go. As soon as I walked into this pristine store, I was completely at ease. Howard went above and beyond to make me feel like the most important customer, ever! He explained each and every step and decision he was making on each piece I was showing him.
I would recommend scheduling an appointment during the week, in the morning. At first I was disappointed when the lady on the phone told me I should come in the following week (it was a Friday) but now I understand why. Old Sacramento can be a huge tourist trap full of people and parking police, it was great to just pull up and pay and park right in front of the store. The whole area was also really quiet except for some early tourists, a school group and a few homeless people (none entered the store).
I would use Skalet Family Jewelers again in a heartbeat. They are family owned, and the family works in the store. Most are certified in gemology and the like, all of their certificates are neatly displayed on the wall. Don’t let the sometimes tacky-​ness of touristy Old Sacramento scare you away, this store is truly a diamond in the rough.
