W.E.T River Trips

First time rafting with WET and both Tyler and Jeffe were awesome and really knew their stuff. They pick you up in the morning and get you out on the water soon as you get there. More laid back that the bigger companies, I’d say. We’ll definitely be going again soon with them. I’d recommend the full day’s tour and bringing synthetic stuff that dries quick since they make sure you get wet and have a good time

Just updating today as we just got back from doing the south fork with lunch. This time around we had Zack as our guide and he was just as awesome as Tyler. We can’t wait to go back and do one of the all day trips and will definitely request one of them. WET is super organized and everything is always on time. Our lunch was a make your own sandwich bar and we had the full spread including some delicious watermelon and Oreos :). Zack found us an awesome spot on the river where it was just us eating. We called a few days ago and booked super last minute and I really appreciate that WET accommodated us and we even had our own boat just for two people, lucky us and THANK YOU THANK YOU to all the WET Rafting and administrative staff for making it happen and always treating us so well. Can’t wait to come back again.

I went on this trip loved it. They meet you in a location in the morning and then they drive you up to river where you launch into the water. That’s when the action starts Loved the view it was relaxing and amazing it deserves four stars but the only reason I gave it five is because of the staff. Really nice humble people that go out there way to show you a good time. I’m definitely taking this trip this year. It’s very exciting lots of action if your for a rafting trip I could recommend this company. Food was surprisingly good I didn’t expect to be since we were camping but it was. So I’ll see you soon wet

I had no problems with my booking. The lady answered my questions & was polite to me. Overall, very pleasant experience except said it was 4 hours but in reality paid for 2 actually on the river…
We used the coupon for the $ 59/​Chili Bar Rafting trip, 9 — 1pm. Reg. $ 119 (I wonder about that?)
Arrived at 9am. Didn’t depart until 9:40 so we hung out & had some delicious home made muffins for $ 1.50 each. Waited in the parking lot for the «green bus» that took us to Chili Bar parking area. The trip took almost an hour to get there. Given helmets, oar, life jacket and instructions on safety. Got in raft with our guide, Andrew. He seemed knowledgable, was witty, entertaining and fun! The trip took about 2 hours. Some #3 rapids, very nice! Watch out for «troublemaker rapid». I took my niece, son & nephew. We all had a great time!
Only gripe was that it was advertised as four hours when actually it was 2 on the river. I’d do it again but would try a different company to compare or by myself with my own raft.

The woman that answers the phones for this errm establishment? collective? I don’t know what to call it but i cant continue to call this a business… is absolutely sickening. Never in my life did i think it was even possible to receive such horrendous, disrespectful customer service. My feelings are literally hurt and I am sick to my stomach. Annie… or Betty as mentioned in other reviews (funny by the description of «betty» mentioned in another review i could totally tell it was the same person) obviously has no boundaries or consequences at her job and its sad because her rudeness, unwillingness to listen, and lack of customer service skills not only affects the «group» she represents, but it affects the customer she berates day as well. By the time i got off the phone with this woman i was shaking and had developed tears, I couldn’t believe i had been spoken to so lowly by someone WORKING for a BUSINESS (only time i will to refer to it as such). I asked to speak with a manager, owner, supervisor– anyyyyyone else and i was told «I am a manager»…that was after she said she couldn’t hear me and hung up on me the first time I had asked. I’m thinking this is maybe a family «business» and old Annie/​Betty has to answer the phones all day and is tired and miserable, it was sad there wasn’t even someone to take over on the phone for her when she grew upset. I asked if the calls were recorded… never got an answer i know that was a dumb question now seeing as i couldn’t find their license # and i couldn’t find them on the Better Business Bureau website either. If i typed everything that was said in our hmmmm 4 conversations i’d get upset again, so im not going to recount each interruption, each voice raise, each hang up (by her, she claimed she couldn’t hear me), and each unprofessional word.
After i was told there was no one else for me to speak to i told the woman i would be posting a review on Unilocal,she proceeded to tell me i can file whatever kind of complaint i want with my name and phone number, at that point i knew this wasn’t her first rodeo it was like she took it as a challenge. I wonder if she knows they aren’t legit enough to be on the better business bureau website? if she wants people to file formal complaints on her she should give out up to date information on how to do so. As mentioned in other reviews the email interactions with these people are curt and unprofessional and are not taken care of in a timely manner, that’s actually how this whole thing started. Step your game up W E T River trips, get someone who can send professional and pleasant emails and impress your clients and potential clients even more when they talk on the phone. If you can afford more than one, you might even want 2 people handling those things for you. I purchased a groupon for this place, looking at other reviews all 1 star reviews are from fellow groupon-​ers or people who had terrible service from the raft tyrant. Suck it up and pay 100 bucks with a reputable company instead of this place, groupon or not its janky and they have Maleficent on the phones.

This was my third time rafting and my first with WET! Definitely the BEST experience I’ve had of the three times I’ve gone rafting! They were very thorough in explaining everything to us about safety and the historic gold mining landmarks along the river that we were rafting. We had an amazing crew/​team in our raft and was led by Tyler! The man was awesome and energetic which translated to each and everyone of us having a blast. He made sure we got the most from our experience and would definitely go again and if so ask for tyler. Overall their staff was great and well worth the 2 hr drive from the Bay Area!

In 2010, my friends and I got a deal to do a group 2 day camping trip with whitewater rafting with WET Adventures. It was the best trip we’ve had as a group! We loved our 2 guides and for most of us it was the first time we went white water rafting. I wish I remembered their names.
We showed up at Camp Lotus which was a great spot, met our team the night before and set to head out early the next for a full day of white water rafting. Our reservation was at the start of the season, so a little colder than usual but the river was empty!
They drove our group down in vans with the equipment and gave us a quick how-​to. After a few hours of rafting, we pulled aside and had a great lunch spread to make sandwiches. We finished a few hours later exhausted and ready for dinner. The guides made an awesome BBQ! Seriously one of the yummiest dinners I’ve had. We also splurged on the photos and got some amazing pics to remember the trip by. I would definitely recommend to a friend, and am looking to do this again.

Loved our guide Colin! I would do it again and again with him as the guide. He was a great guide, personable & knowledgable. I too had a coupon that said lunch but no lunch was included ;(

My husband & I recently purchased a trip thru TravelZoo or Groupon, called & upgraded to a two day over-​night trip and had a BLAST! Johnny was our guide and we are saving up to take the family next summer for sure! Johnny knows that river better than I know my home town. Precise directions, history about the area, tips on what «not to do» when rafting & a great personality. The rapids were awesome. The water was just cold enough. The scenery is AMAZING! We even saw a bit of wild life. All of the meals were great. And my husband and I were the only over nighters so we had the whole camp site/​meadow to ourselves. I left thinking I could spend the whole summer on the river & not miss the real world a bit!
We have an 11 yr old and she could probably also handle it. Although, I wouldn’t go much younger.
I understand the «office people» weren’t up to par, but my husband dealt with them, so I can’t speak from personal experience there.

I didn’t organize this trip so I can’t really comment on their professionalism or customer service. I would guess it’s mediocre. One of my friends called the day before to make a couple inquires and was met with a rude and accusatory lady on the phone who claimed that our organizer was not responsive to emails and what not even though 1) the email was sent the day before and 2) she already responded. Go figure, I’ll update this review if I come across a similar experience.

This was my first rafting experience and it was quite fun. Our guide Paul was very fun, talkative, and taught us some neat tricks. He’s very experienced in the waters, and made for great company. Our raft of 7 [+Paul] had a great time with him and it’ll definitely be fun to come back for a more difficult route. I’d love to come back again and have Paul as our guide. Yay for the rock splash and paddle high fives! :]
PS. My friend was in another raft of 7 with their guide Morgan who was equally fun and knowledgeable. Props to WET for hiring these two great guides!

We went with Andrew and he is a nice guy. The South Fork of the American River has alot of waves. I wasn’t that crazy about the bus ride — it seemed like we were on the bus for at least 45 minutes but I know that they had to get us up to the starting point of the trip down the river.
I TOTALLY agree with the prior person who complained about the lady on the phone. She is rude, rude, rude. Is she the bosses’ daughter who thinks she can talk to people anyway she likes. She is lacking in phone etiquette big time. Hint her name starts with an «A», at least that’s what she told me when I asked.

The actual rafting was fun and the guide was nice — but I’ve tried several other companies and they have always been fun and the guides have always been nice.
My One Star is for sleaziness.
I had waited for a Groupon deal which included lunch, as I had bought in the past. Several deals came along, clearly not including lunch, and then came one which simply offered «One-​Day Whitewater-​Rafting Trip on the South Fork American River Chili Bar ($ 119 Value).» Since there were no details about lunch, I clicked the link in the deal and checked the website. The «One-​Day Whitewater-​Rafting Trip on the South Fork American River Chili Bar» did include lunch! Cool. I went one step further and checked out the price: «$ 119.» Confirmed! This is the one! We’ll get lunch.
After making reservations for all 4 of us (it took a month to negotiate a date we could all make), I got the confirmation back: no lunch.
When I complained, their position was, «Even though the deal said «One-​Day Whitewater-​Rafting Trip on the South Fork American River Chili Bar,» I should have known it wasn’t really the «One-​Day Whitewater-​Rafting Trip on the South Fork American River Chili Bar.» I should have known it was a different trip with a different name. And, even though it said the price for the trip including lunch was $ 119, I should have known it wasn’t really $ 119. I should have clicked on a different website (not the link in the deal) to find that the price for the trip they gave me (not the one named in the deal) was also $ 119.
They wouldn’t even admit that it was all very misleading and insisted that I simply should have known better. I do know better. I know better than to use WET again. There are other companies that are not as sleazy.

Extremely well informed and fun guide that we got. Matt was awesome and funny. The whole experience was a blast. I think its pathetic other people that wrote reviews here complaining about the food. Its a freakin raft not a yacht!
I think the lady on the phone is definitely short-​tempered. Nevertheless, I wouldnt hesitate to go again.

The guides here are some really cool people who deserve 4 – 5 stars. Over the past few years, I’ve taken three trips with WET and had a great time. However, those times we set a date, booked the trip (well, a family member booked it), and went. No issues.
Fast forward to January when I bought a Groupon for a trip with WET. Great! Sounds fun! Recently I called them to ask about the trips. The woman was VERY RUDE and TERSE on the phone; her complete annoyance at everything having to do with customers came through loud and clear. I emailed them to book my trip. My boyfriend, who also had a Groupon, was going to book his as soon as I got my confirmation. 4 family members were also planning on coming. Then we had scheduling issues with the fam, so I contacted them to move it a weekend up so I would just go with my boyfriend.
There’s where the problems began. First, I emailed them. I get a very short email back: «We do not allow for reschedules. But, for our groupon friends we allow a 1x only reschedule fee of $ 25.» Very friendly, WET. By paying $ 25 on top of the Groupon, I wouldn’t have saved any money at all, leaving the Groupon worthless. I emailed back, asking if it could be waived because I had JUST made the reservation the day before and the trip was well over a month away. No response for days.
Then I receive: «Please let us know if you are cancelling your trip. We did not realize that your trip was over a month away.» I emailed back that no, I did not want to cancel, if only the ridiculous charge could be waived. No response for 4 days.
I phoned, thinking someone might actually be forced to respond if they were on the other line, live. I talked to a nice man who wrote down my info and said my trip was moved without a charge.
Then I get an email a few days later: «Here is your email confirmation. Please pay your $ 25 reschedule fee, we would appreciate it greatly.» Oh, really? I would greatly appreciate keeping my money, thanks.
I call back, and the nice man takes down my info and assures me he’ll do what he can. No call back — that was over a week ago.
I contacted Groupon and they refunded my money (plus some) for dealing with a completely inept, bipolar company. Never again. Avoid and pay $ 20 more for a company that gives a crap.

First of all, this company is NOT in Sacramento… They confused the shit out of us because when we bought our tickets online, they didn’t even send us an address or directions so my dad got a Sacramento address from their website. DO NOT GO THERE. We showed up in a residential area around 8:30am and called their tollfree number on their website about 3 times. Nobody picked up. We had to ask a friend to look up any other contact info and finally found a local number hidden in their Contact Us section of the website. A lady named Anne or something picked up and was actually EXTREMELY RUDE & IMPATIENT with us. She gave us hella attitude. Instead of immediately telling us how to fix our location problem, she basically complained and I was actually really close to blowing up on her. Finally she gave us directions to the ACTUAL rafting place which is in Lotus… Camp Lotus which was 45 min (according to her) away from the Sacramento address. We asked if we would make it in time, otherwise there’s no point in driving 45 min more for no reason. She didn’t even answer our question. She was just like «Umm yeah I don’t know. You guys are pretty far from there…» COOL. GREAT HELP. We went anyways because we already drove 2 hours from San Jose.
We arrived at around 9:30 and ended up making the trip. In the beginning, we were pretty pissy because of the attitude we received from their horrible customer service. BUT our guide named Kelsey was amazing and he is the sole reason why I’m not giving this place 1 star. We took the Chili Bar Express which was really fun (10.5 miles). Our guide made us feel comfortable and really wanted us to have «the most epic time of our lives.» I had a good time but to be honest, any white water rafting place will be fun if you like that kinda stuff. I would suggest a different company to avoid customer service problems.

I DO NOT recommend this company… NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. (I called for more info and the person on the other line was EXTREMELY rude …) SHE KEPT TELLING ME SHE DOESN’T KNOW MUCH I NEED TO ASK QUESTIONS VIA EMAIL. SO, I EMAILED THEM AND THEY DID NOT TAKE THEIR TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. THEY EVEN MAKE ME TO REPEAT MYSELF TWICE and BLAMED US FOR OUR DATE CHAGED (IT IS OUR FAULT to move our reservaion to 1 day later and insisted to charge us $ 25)
IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE me and decide that you do want to be treated like crap. GO AHEAD and try it …

I’ve experienced WET river rafting 2 years ago, and if I was writing solely about the river guides my review would be better but.
My friends recently purchased a groupon for WET and I was calling about prices and more information… i TOTALLY AGREE and have the same experience with another review below mine. the people on the other line have NO customer service what so ever! She was super rude and hardly answered my questions or helped me at all. She was very impatient, and short. People are OBVIOUSLY calling to receive more information, if you dont have the patience to deal with them then dont answer the phone lines!
I’m really disappointed especially since another group of friends have taken me on a WET river rafting trip before. The guide was extremely knowledgable and fun! Therefore, I was so excited to plan this trip. Hopefully I can write a better a review after my trip. IF that trip even happens after what I encountered.

FANTASTIC is how I would describe this experience.
I would like to call out our guide, Johnny. From the start I knew I would like him. The W.E.T. organizer pointed out all the guides that our group of 30 could go to and he was off to the side and without a group. Our smaller group of six walked over and he told us that we could just start taking our raft out to the water. This is while everyone else was still standing around talking about who knows what. This set the pace for the rest of the day because we were always first. He did work us pretty hard and we probably paddled more than the other groups but that gave us a lot of lead time to do other things.
There were 3 – 4 different areas with smaller rapids where you can jump out and float with the waves. He warned us that if you don’t time your breathing right, then you’ll get hit in the face repeatedly by the waves and not be able to breathe. And to my luck, it happened. It was a little scary and I thought death was approaching but it didn’t. You’d think I’d be too traumatized by the first time do it again but I did and damn glad I did! The second time I was able to go with the waves and it was so incredibly fun. If you get a chance, it’s fun to stay in the raft and watch your friends get rocked.
Johnny is a junior high math teacher during the year and a white rapids guide during the summer. You can tell that he’s a teacher because he really tries to engage the group with jokes, games, and water activities. If possible, I would ask for him again.
We did a 21-​mile full run at the South Fork of the American River. This is a level 3 and no helmets are necessary. The schedule is as follows:
9am: Arrive at Camp Lotus, register, take the bus to the rafting area
10:30am: Put on life jackets, meet your guide, take off
12:30pm:Lunch (sandwiches with all the fixings!)
1pm — 6pm: More rafting
6pm: Take bus back to Camp Lotus
6:30pm: Watch slideshow with the pictures
It’s an all day event so make sure you bring water bottles and bars to eat on the raft. You’ll have to find some way to secure it so that it doesn’t fall out. What a great experience and I can’t wait to go again and try a level 4!

This past Sunday, I went on a rafting trip with my husband and a group of friends using this company. We had an awesome time! Every single one of us :)
There were 12 of us so 2 full boats. We did the Middle Fork of the American River which had plenty of rapids (4s mainly) and some chill floating parts. The boat I was in had the best guide of the bunch (Chris) because he wanted to make sure we got W.E.T. and had a good time! He had us spinning around, taking some rapids backwards, sideways, etc.
In the first few minutes of the trip we went through a tunnel chute which was like riding a Disney World ride! Super duper fun! I would do this exact trip again just for that :)
Since it was the end of May, the air was still cool in the morning and the water still pretty cold from snow run-​off. So the morning splashes were a wake-​up call for sure. And I’m fairly certain the guide went out of his way to make sure each splash got me! I screamed the loudest each time and I think I caught him giggling at that…
The lunch set up was great. Different breads, wraps, meats, cheese, condiments and produce plus freshly cut pineapple and Oreos (yum!) There was enough for everyone to eat plenty too. The company had a total of 4 boats on this trip (2 of them being ours) so it wasn’t so crowded that lunch prep took forever (I’ve been on trips with larger companies and lunch was a pain.)
The views going down the river through the valley were beautiful. You can just imagine how the gold miners would mine in there years and years ago. I was hoping for some wildlife sightings but it was all birds. Pretty ones though :) And momma and baby ducks!
We had a kayaking photographer taking pics of us at each of the crazy rapids. Then you can view and buy discs of the pics at the end. There were no other kayaks out there so not sure if any other company even offered that?
The only bad thing was that we originally were reserved to do the North Fork, which has more crazy rapids (class 4 and 5) but we missed the water level by a couple days. They called the day before and told us. But not their fault as the water level is the water level. Definitely reason to plan a trip for early to mid April 2010!
I definitely recommend this rafting company.
