Western States Horse Expo

I’m not a horseman but am a supporter of a horsewoman. I’m not into the methods of handling, don’t know about the ins and outs of breeds, don’t want to ride, or what makes up good tack, … generally, not so much. I am into barns, tractors, trailers, gizmos and gadgets.
We attended on day 3 of this 3 day event. This was our second attendance of this annual show held at Cal Expo. In addition to exhibits and vendors (tack & gear, feed, resorts, trailers, supplies, training, horse care, rescues, and more), expect to find educational speakers and clinics as well as horsemanship exhibitions. While not familiar to me, Pat Parelli, Chris Cox, and Craig Cameron were among those clinics attended by my co-​attendee with intent interest and excitement while I learned about metal barn structures, feeders, ranch implements, and trailers. Beer and food vendors found me (or did I find them).
The exhibition and clinic arenas are open air and extremely sunny — get in early to get a spot in the shade of «a» tree or bring an umbrella. I spent a lot of time inside the air conditioned buildings. There’s plenty of people watching opportunity — determining who’s «in» (intent and involved) and who’s along to support (glazed and tolerant).
If you’re an experienced horse person, a learner, or even a wannabe, there’s a lot of good information and education to be had. Whether it’s from the vendors, clinicians, or fellow attendees, it’s worth a day or more.
