Yelpin’ in the Wild Wild West @ The Golden Bear

This event was a blast. I was a little on the fence, since I was attending as a «+1», but I had a lot of fun. The people were great, the venue was great, and it inspired me to make a solid attempt to be more active on Unilocal!!!
I had no idea the community was so tight. I’ve lived in Sacramento for just under 6 months and I only know 2 friends in the area, outside of work. I have to say that Olivia did a fantastic job with this event, and I met some awesome people. I’m looking forward to more Unilocal community events in Sacramento in the near future.

My first Sacramento Elite event didn’t disappoint! I’ve been an elite Unilocaler for 3 years, but only recently moved to Sacramento, and missed the previous event. It was fun, GREAT MUSIC, great people, great drinks! Can’t ask for much else! I loved the heated outdoor patio, but we mostly sat at the bar. Can’t wait for the next one!

Olivia, struck gold again! This was such an awesome event! It was great to see so many people dressed up for the Wild Wild West.
The Golden Bear’s new outdoor patio is tre’ chic; most definitely a huge improvement from the previous patio. The food was great too. Those sliders… ohh the sliders! The mushroom cracker things were delicious too, pretty much, everything was delicious.
I was introduced to the Lagunitas IPA, which is one of my new favorite beers, and thanks to the double red tickets, I was able to double sample the IPA.
I would have made a horrible gold miner in the 1850’s, I gave up quickly after no luck finding the gold coins, it was a lot of work. Congratulations to the people who did find them!
It’s always great to see all the Sacramento Unilocalers.

WOW. Words can’t describe how much i enjoyed this event but i’ll try my best. We threw it down! Coming in dressed up was fun: D, too bad everyone wasn’t dressed up. The water pistols made it interesting. Olivia made this event happen! Much Props to her!

My wizard & I had a fun time at our first official Unilocal event! Didn’t think I would be up for it after getting off from a long day at work. Then Olivia met us at the entrance of The Golden Bear, and I started to feel more up beat. I’m pretty shy around crowds of people, but Olivia was very welcoming and I felt like this would be a fun time for all. I really enjoyed meeting some of our fellow Unilocalers in person! Everyone was so nice. Along with the drinks, the food, and the music! Now I have great new friends! My life is complete!

On the one hand, I love coming to events like this because, hey: free food and drinks, entertainment, swag. This event in particular had a great selection of drinks (good beer, a variety of hard alcohol). The sliders were pretty dang tasty (I was less into the meatball we tried). My cowboy panned us a gold coin, so we’ll be attending the Celebrity Cook-​off at the end of the month.
On the other hand I’m shy (at least until you get a few drinks in me), so I end up spending the whole time hanging out with my husband, looking antisocial. I like him a whole lot so it works out pretty well. But feel free to harass us at the next event. We aren’t really standoffish jerks (especially my husband… he’s nice).

Twas a night of fun and almost a step back in time!

I loved that the Golden Bear was chosen as the venue as I have much love for this bar.
The cran-​vodkas were flowing and my fave appetizers were the meatballs and the sliders. YUM!
Though I tend to be reserved in a crowd, I love to people watch and it was nice to see n’ meet the real faces behind the profiles.

Good times! Thanks to Olivia and Katee for hosting this event. From the swag, to the decorations, to the gold panning, to the free adult beverages (the Golden Bear bartenders make one mean White Russian), to the appetizers (didn’t have a chance to try the mini-​burgers, but the mini-​tacos and flat breads were great), to the music… just a solid good time with friendly people at a nice venue.
My only regret is not dressing the part. Oh well, there’s always next time.
Nice meeting everyone, it was our pleasure.

This was a really fun event. It was great putting real personalities with the reviews. Olivia and crew did a great job putting this on. The bartenders were really nice. You should have them whip up a JJ’s Birthday Cake, with raspberry vodka and, um,. Well it’s raspberry vodka and not too sweet, so who cares what else is in, just try one. The appetizers were good, especially the sliders, as well as the wait staff. This is definitely a place my friends and I will check out the next time we’re in the area. The band Musical Charis was actually pretty good. I wouldn’t say It’s genre of music, but they didn’t have me wanting to drink myself into oblivion to tune them out. I’d definitely be willing to see them again.

Golden Bear’s Chef Zoeillin produced top-​quality fare last night. Those morel mushroom apps covered in a glorious, thick cream that mimicked cheese and drizzled with olive oil and asparagus vinaigrette were brilliant. The orchid-​garnished platters certainly defy Golden Bear’s former reputation as a frat boy bar.
Yet, the formality didn’t take over the laid-​back bar vibe. Traditional apps like house fries keep Golden Bear grounded, while still satisfying the harshest food critic, because Zoeillin serves them up with house-​made, finger-​licking ketchup.
Hats off to Chef Zoeillin for this wonderful improvement to Midtown!
And hats off to Olivia for hosting a great night that was fun for me and my mouth!
And hats off to Musical Charis. Great sounds!

Oh and at some point I remember something about 99 bottles of beer on the wall and I had a tambourine in my hand.

This was such a fantastic Unilocal event! I am so glad I had the day off and I was able to come here… believe me you need a day to relax at home to be able to party with Unilocal elite folks!
The panning for gold was awesome… i found a golden coin! the appetizers were OUTSTANDING especially the ahi tuna and the burger sliders. The drinks were strong and cheap as usual … by the way THANK YOU Unilocal FOR THE COMPLIMENTARY DRINK!
I always enjoy meeting new Unilocal friends and reuniting with old ones. Every time I come home from a Unilocal event, I come home with a handful of friends. I’m so glad to have this community around!

This was my first Unilocal event and I had a blast meeting everyone. I really enjoyed the vibe and getting molested by the girl’s gone wild next to me. hehe.
The only thing I regret was coming to the event an hour late. I had a yoga class and then fell asleep when I got home. Things I learned about my fellow Unilocalers.

We all had a GREAT time… where do you find gold? Although I didn’t find any gold coins, it was definitely a very memorable experience.

I’m glad someone told me it was digging for gold and not bobbing for gold! That water looked pretty gross as it leaked out! Great fun with the wok skimmer!

I don’t know if this was just the general coolness of the Golden Bear or the presence of DAT, but I am going to say this was the best Sac Unilocal Elite event yet. Straight up Sacramento Unilocal has arrived.

I didn’t find any gold, but I did come away with some golden memories! Alright, I’ll stop the sap. But really, thanks Olivia and Katee for putting on a hootin’ and hollerin’ good time.

Good food, good grog and good little spot in midtown! And here I was for years having not discovered gold at the Golden Bear. Loved the mini tacos and sliders. I will be back!
