Steve and Dan’s Auto Repair

Called Steve & Dan’s after my car failed on a drive. I was initially hopeful, based on their inquisitive nature over the phone. The repair bill totaled nearly $ 1,400. No biggie, if my car is fixed, right? On the initial drive away from their shop, by car started having problems again. Took it right back and noticed some troubling things. First, they replaced my coolant cap with the wrong one. Second, the hose that goes into my reservoir tank was completely missing! At first, they claimed nothing to do with it; but, I politely insisted that I had pictures of these things before turning it in. They seemed to withdraw their claim at this point. They started work on it after their shop had closed, which I appreciated. I was then told that they stopped the issue, but that I had an issue with the cap-​threading apparatus for the coolant. However, my car would work totally fine, as long as I keep it topped-​off with coolant. My car worked on the drive home; but, the next time I started it up, it was back to leaking coolant and the check engine light came on. When I called about this, they said that I really should have the cap-​threading apparatus replaced to fix this. Wait. What happened to it working totally fine? Bottom line: Nearly $ 1,400 later and I still have some of the same car problems. Moreover, they want to add to that, after saying it was fine. No, I will probably not be taking my car to them again. They seemed nice enough; but, losing my car parts, failing to fully diagnose the problem, and giving me false assurances that the car was «fine» are all reasons to keep me from coming back. I’ll add that these guys all smoke around and inside your car, while working on it. So, if heavy cigarette smoke smell and a messy shop are also off-​putting, then consider a different shop.

They are so efficient and you simply cannot beat the service you get! I highly recommend them!
