We at Michael’s Tasting Room change our menu seasonally to bring you the most innovative dishes using the freshest ingredients possible. Chef Michael Lugo believes in organic and sustainable ingredients and therefore uses local and meticulously sourced products throughout. Our dishes are designed to offer range, as well as adventure, with overtones of Spanish flavor.
History
Established in 2006.
Michael’s Tasting Room has been bringing innovative cuisine to St. Augustine since 2006. We have been awarded with many national and local accolades for both our food and our wine programs, and have been featured on The Food Network’s Emeril’s Florida.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
As a child Michael Lugo often found himself in his grandmother’s kitchen observing her skills in preparing traditional Puerto Rican dishes. His curiosity and appetite were the beginnings of what would one day evolve into an authentic dining destination of his own.
Beginning as a wine steward, while working alongside Chef Richard Chamberlain for seven years, proved to be pivotal as he learned the intricacies and nuances of fine dining. The Tasting Room opened its doors in June 2006.
It was then that Michael was able to truly engage his artistry as a chef. His aim is then as it is now, to create dishes that taste as exquisite as they look, provide a friendly environment and work alongside a team that is as passionate about the experience as he is himself.
In May 2014, Michael became owner and executive chef, changing the name to Michael’s Tasting Room, featuring an innovative menu with Spanish flair and a world-class wine list of global and boutique wines.
