What a great little shop full of treasures. The owner is amazing and each time I go in, I find new and different things in stock. This great shop is a wonderful break from the megastores.

I popped into The Closet as it seemed like it might have potential for some vintage gems during my day trip to St. Augustine. The woman working was very nice, helpful and friendly, asking where my friends and I were from, and explained how the shop was arranged. The shop offers unique, locally made pieces, as well as second hand clothing. The offers are fun, slightly eccentric, but I was able to find a vintage blouse for $ 10 and I was quite happy! The shop was a little dark for my liking, and while I only found the one blouse, I will for sure return if I find myself in St. Augustine again.

The Closet isn’t that bad. Although a few things are marked up, for the most part, this place is totally reasonable and affordable. After working at a consignment store in NYC last year, I totally kept thinking about how wonderful The Closet was… great organization, beautiful displays, wonderful music… and realized why so many consignment shops, including the one I worked at… sucked! The Closet is a gem downtown. Aside from the amazing purchases I’ve had(including multiple 70s floral dresses for $ 10 – 15), it was fun to go in there and exchange clothes. I find Buffalo Exchange here is so boring and picky… they see vintage generally as worthless unless it’s 90s crap… The Closet however? I always found they kept a wide variety of styles and they cater more to the unique individual, as opposed to the follower. They also will take more than clothes. I’ve brought in all sorts of stuff from jewelry to vintage sewing patterns! I do wish the place was bigger… but it IS called the Closet after all! However, I am docking a star due to pay. For some reason, this shop and SO many others decline to pay their employees decent wages. I recall the manager making barely anything over the regular employees. It’s the reason I quit my consignment shop job so I can empathize.

I was visiting from out of town and stopped in here. What a cute store! I love the mix of items, but my favorites were the re-purposed/upcycled clothing section. I got a new pocketbook from that section that I love! The also had some adorable jewelry. The girl working there was friendly and helpful. I would love to have a store like this near me at home!

Picked up some Free Peace and Blue Plate dresses yesterday. I, also, got this grey on grey ombré dress. Very beautiful stuff and I used all my store credit for it(great deal). DIdn’t spend a dime
