We brought our little love Teddy in to see the vet thinking he had listera due to a food recall. Thank God that wasn’t the case, we knew he hurt himself and it turned out it was a pulled muscle, we were so thankful for the good report. Dr. Ammon prescribed Firocoxib and knowing that our Teddy had a history of seizures, he promised this medication would not be a problem, PROMISED me. We almost lost our boy. Without a return phone call and messages left in tears. This is what happened and what we described in the messages… Note that his seizures in the past where nothing like this in any way and never lasted more than a minute. These torture seizures lasted 10 to 15 minutes and there was nothing we could do but pray.

My last visit was not a happy one. My senior dog was having issue and I thought she would have to be put down. Dr. Ammon said we could try one more medication, but promised nothing and informed me of the options if the meds did not work. I left thinking my dog would have to be put down to relieve her from her pain. Fortunately, there has been an improvement, my girl is moving more and has a new interest in life. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Ammon and all of the staff at Animal House in St. Charles for caring enough to help improve her quality of life in her senior years. I understand that this is not a cure and she is on borrowed time, but she is happy, moving more and seeking attention from those who love her. I cannot ask for anything more.

Animal House is the best hospital around. Doctor Sarah Pruss is a Phenomenal vet. She takes the time, care and understanding to work with you and your pet. Doctor Pruss has never turned away a call or a question from my family when it comes to our pet. She understands how much we love our furry friends and she shows the same to ours. She is gentle with your pet and truly shows why she is a cut above the rest. I recommend Animal House Veterinary Hospital. Great people, great understanding, and overall great service. As long as I live in the area I will always take my pets to AHVH.

My wife and I have been going to see Dr Ammon and his associates since 1995
He has taken care of our cats and we recently added a puppy to our family and we are using Animal House for him as well
Everyone who works there is great and they have always gotten us in for an appt quickly when we have had any medical issues with our pets
I highly recommend them
Your pet will be well taken care of if you choose to use them

Animal House is the cadillac of Pet Care in the TriCities and beyond.
I’ve been taking my dogs there for more than nine (9) years. We first met Dr. Peter Ammen, then Dr. Patrick Sage and Dr. Tracy Gebhard. All three are amazingly compassionate and love animals, in addition to being experts in their field.
My dogs have always been their #1 concern and, when we’ve had complex treatment needs, have been generous in payment terms.
We won’t go elsewhere unless we move out of state.

WORST VET EVER! I took my dog here to have him checked out, since he is getting old and I noticed he has specs on his eyes. The vet told us there was nothing wrong (maybe just some difficulties with his vision, which is normal for older dogs) but he decided to do some tests and gave us an eye drop without consulting with us about our budget. (It ended up being like $ 150!) After giving the eye drop to my dog, he started acting weird (He’d resist to go up and down the stairs and when he tried he cried badly). My husband kept calling the vet but they never returned our calls. We stopped giving him the eye drop after just using it once or twice, and after that he went back to normal. IT WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY and I cannot trust the vets out there anymore because of this experience. Seriously, at least return the call if you care about the pets.

Animal House is amazing. We work specifically with Dr. Gebhard, however all of the team members are great. The care and compassion she shows to the families with whom she works is extraordinary. We have been working with them for many years. We recently had to euthanize our wheaten terrier and she made an incredibly painful process bearable. She was compassionate and took as much time as we needed. During the process of his illness she went above and beyond what is required to make him comfortable, to put the puzzle of his condition together and to help us make the best decisions regarding his care. The hours she spent with him and the dedication she showed were beyond measure. He loved her, as well. Even during routine visits we never feel rushed and she is willing to answer any questions. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Animal House is hands-​down the best veterinary service that I have ever used, and my family has had many pets over the past years. The doctors are incredibly compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. They never hurry your appointment — you always get the feeling that they are really listening to your concerns. We have primarily had appointments with Dr. Ammon, who is wonderful. I am always amazed because he always remembers us, our pets, and their medical issues.
The admin staff and assistants are all friendly and responsive. They also reply to e-​mail messages promptly, which is a plus in this busy day & age. I have also left phone messages for various doctors, and they have always called me back personally to help me with my concerns. They have an on-​call 24⁄7 service that I have used a few times, and even though the issues were not real major, the on-​call doctor returned my calls quickly. I even had an issue one Christmas Eve, and the doctor called me back despite the fact it was a holiday, and took time to help me.
We have unfortunately had two pets put down over the past few years, and the Animal House docs were an absolute key factor in bringing dignity and peace into the process. They cried with us, listened to our memories that we shared, and let us sit in the room as long as we needed to. It is obvious how much they care not only for their clients but for the pets as well.
They are a little more expensive than other hospitals, but I feel it is absolutely 100% worth it for the quality of care received. Highly recommended.

I have been taking all my pets (which are like children to me) to Animal house since we moved here 11 years ago. This place was very small when we started with Dr. Burkinal (another great Vet) and is now a bit larger and has 2 locations. This place is one of the very best in Fox Valley. They treat your pet as if it was their own. The Staff is always helpful and responsive. I highly recommend Dr. Patrick Sage at both the St. Charles and Aurora Locations. He is one of the most compassionate Vets I have ever met and truly cares for animals and my cats love his soft and gentle manner. He also does not try to do anything unnecessary but, looks at what is best for you and your pet. You will not find any other local area Vets who will take the greatest of care for all creatures. Having learned about area vets and pricing, care and responsibility they do not charge anything other then something that is customary. They will also work with you if needed.
I am grateful for Dr. Sage and which more people doctors acted in such a manner.

I need to update this review and mention Dr Sage at the North Aurora location as well. I commented earlier that Dr Nickel has taken care of our girls since we’ve had them… that’s mostly true, but when Ellie, our oldest, was a baby Dr Sage was at the St Charles location and took care of her.
Either way, I’ve been impressed with everyone person at either location. Great place.

Animal House is the best Vet I have ever been to. A few years ago one of my cats got very sick and staff at Animal House helped my furry friend down the road to recovery. The doctor has even made personal follow up phone calls to me after visits to see how my cats were doing.
I highly recommend this animal hospital… and I am really picky when it comes to the well-​being of my pets.
