Dr. Lew was not the doctor for me. I feel her approach would have been better suited to someone who was either on their 2nd or 3rd baby, or did not have a history of miscarriage. The good: My appointments started promptly and Dr. Lew is casually friendly. The bad: The first appointment felt very rushed. We’ve been through two miscarriages /prior to this pregnancy, and my husband and I both felt that we were taken through this appointment as if this were our 3rd baby, not our third pregnancy. We’d been preparing ourselves for another loss, so when the US revealed a healthy-looking bpm, we were shocked and quite slow to react. Finally she asked if we’d ever gotten this far before and we said no(previous US appointments revealed failing fetus or no hr at all). From there, I’d have thought that the overall approach /tone of our appointment would change, but it did not. Perhaps we should have had more questions lined up, but as I said we were quite shocked and I feel like she should have been more proactive at that point in taking us through the next steps. Sadly, it did not get better from there, and my husband and I both feel we’d be more comfortable elsewhere. In addition, one of the women working the reception desk was outwardly rude toward me while I was there — in tears — for an emergency appointment. I do not blame Dr. Lew for this, but her office staff is the first impression patients will have of her.

I would give Dr. Lew five stars but I am going to wait until I get pregnant(I hope) for when I would have to see her more often. I am a breast cancer survivor and I can’t tell you how many doctors I have had to see over the past three years. Almost none of them have been as great as Dr. Lew. When I told her that I wanted to try to get pregnant in spite of my hormone-positive cancer status, she told me that she didn’t agree with my decision, but she would still treat me. I greatly appreciate her honesty. Also, she will answer any and all crazy questions you ask her(and I have a LOT) with her best professional opinion. She is thorough but not someone who will order extra unnecessary tests. As for the staff at DuKane Obstetrics, I am very grateful to them for returning my calls promptly and for treating me well in general. So, I am paying it forward for Dr. Lew and the staff by composing this favorable review. 8÷1÷14: Update: I did get pregnant and I did have to see Dr. Lew plus two of her colleagues for the duration. I’m changing my review to five stars to reflect my experience. I got fantastic care through each trimester. She answered all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. Her staff is also excellent. When I accidentally left an ultrasound picture in the room, she made sure I got it back at my next appointment. It’s the little things that count too.
