Staff was extremely friendly and helpful although you could tell they’re heavily pressured by ‘corporate ’ to constantly greet customers and force people to sign up for their membership card. While I love shopping at all area Savers I just couldn’t get passed the insanely overpriced items.$ 9.99 for a Rams sweatshirt weeks after it’s announced they’re moving? $ 8.99 for a used Under Armour workout shirt? The list goes on and on… I really hope they pay their employees a few dollars above minimum wage b/c they deserve it. Unless you have a coupon, you’re better off shopping at Goodwill.

«This is just an overpriced Goodwill.» I overheard someone say that today at the grand opening of Savers in St. Charles. I can understand how she came to that conclusion. Things are more expensive here, and some things are overpriced. However, I enjoy shopping at Savers. Why? 1. It’s well-organized. Although they sell a variety of things(e.g., books, household goods), I typically only browse the clothing. That’s what I did today, and as with every other Savers I’ve visited, clothing is organized by type and then by size. 2. It’s clean. When I shop at Savers, I never feel like I’m at a thrift store. Maybe that’s an overstatement, but the employees do a great job of making the place look pretty nice. This particular store has the advantage of being clean /and/new. 3. Overall product quality seems to be higher than what you’d find at other thrift stores. I imagine they put some of their best stuff out for their grand opening, but I saw lots of good stuff here today. The store was fully stocked, but again, I was there only for clothing. I saw several items that still had their original tags as well as many things that were in great condition. I tried on eleven items in two different batches.(The dressing room limit is six items per visit, and despite the fact that the store was packed, I did not have to wait for a dressing room either time.) Some items were too small. Some were too big. One had a broken button. I left with three things for a total of $ 30. I purchased a new cardigan with its original tags($ 6.99), a Calvin Klein dress that looked like it had never been worn($ 14.99), and a considerably worn but adorable Forever 21 sweatshirt($ 5.99). Are those prices higher than Goodwill? Yes, they are. I put two or three things back on the rack, without even trying them on, because I felt they were asking too much for them. But compared to a place like Goodwill, there’s a greater likelihood that I’ll actually find something I want here. And a $ 15 dress rocks. Tips: –You pay sales tax at Savers. –You can receive store discounts by making donations. –Be sure to examine all items for defects prior to buying them. –Get a Savers card, which makes you eligible for sales held on Mondays.
