Ok the other posts are true concerning the lobby smell. Smelled like old cigars. But our trowels were very clean, the bedding was immaculate and quite generous. I always check for bed bugs and there were three different sheets(one a mattress pad) to go through to get to the mattress. The pillows were fluffy and comfy. Also, not a bad price for a room WITH a fridge and a microwave and even a safe! Contrast that with the $ 139 a night room we stayed in up the road at Pheasant Run RESORT. bigger bed but no fridge or microwave! And the hallways smelled just as bad though it was a sickening air freshener smell there. Did not partake of the breakfast but the coffee was pretty good. And both managers were very friendly.

Online price offered wasn’t respected by the hotel clerk. Bedding had cigarette burns and they do not provide shampoo. The ice machine actually has a sign that tells you not to fill the ice bucket they provide you with! Room was comfortable enough, microwave and fridge provided. Overall, I’ve slept in better places for less, but it’s not bad.

Terribly over-priced. Neither hot water nor pressure. Continental breakfast selection consisted of rotten bananas, bread, and cereal. In-room wireless signal is too weak to connect. Will not be returning.

My experience with Super 8 in Sept, 2013 was a nightmare. I had a reservation but called a day early to ask if I could get a room a night early. Which I did. I was called early next morning to pay my bill… they woke me up and made me come down to pay the bill for the extra night. Like I did not have a reservation for the next 4 nights? The staff was so rude, they treated me like I was going to cheat them of the extra night… I was there for a wedding and had a reservation for 4 nights but then night 3 my back spasmed — I assume as a partial result of bad mattresses … Worse was, with the back spasm so bad at 10pm, I asked the desk clerk where the closest emergency room was and he indicated with his eyes a PHONEBOOK! No compassion, no help and he then shockingly turned his back on me!!. I am in the travel business and have been my whole life and I have NEVEREVER had such a horrid motel experience — unfortunately, because my back was out I had to stay even more days because I could not move… I think their treatment of me was almost criminal-no one checking on me, … I caution you to never ever ever stay there… or any super 8 if corporate is so lax in selecting franchisees. Did I tell you that I was a woman alone and that the staff were all men? truly horrible experience-I was frightened even. I plan to send this also to corporate headquarters. I do not think it was clean or decent and someone in the city of St. Charles should check on this disgusting establishment that resides in this upscale suburb of Chicago. I don’t think they deserve even one star…

Meh. It wasn’t bad, per se. But it wasn’t good. The room actually reminded me some of a hospital room, just without the medical equipment. A fresh coat of paint of something other than stark white would go a long way to dispel that feeling. There was a big ripple in the carpet right in the middle of the room. The TV was straight out of the mid-90s. Half the lights didn’t work in the room. The air conditioner was quiet and worked great. My wife was upset the in-room coffee pot didn’t work(it’s the little things, ya know?). The bed was lumpy and noisy with a rubbery sound when you moved, but it wasn’t overly uncomfortable. The sheets were clean. The guy at the counter when we checked in at 10:30 on Saturday night was friendly and a bit chatty. There was apparently a drummer convention going on in town and they were all at the Super 8. He told us we got the last room. The drummers were all out front drinking when we got there, but they had quieted down and gone to their rooms by 11:00. The lobby was clean, but strangely arranged. There was a continental breakfast, but we did not partake. The bathroom was clean, if unimpressive. The showerhead was coated in hard water deposits, but worked well. It’s a Super 8, so you really shouldn’t expect much. I won’t be staying there again, even if I return to the area.

what do you want me to say, saint charles super 8? that you were super classy? that your bed was the most comfortable i ever slept in? that your lobby didn’t smell like soup? well, i won’t lie to the people of Unilocal.i haven’t so far, and i’m not starting today. listen, i needed a place to lay my head down for a solid 8 hours before the fox valley marathon. this motel was less than a mile from the start line, and it was $ 61 for the night and that was WITH the tax. it had hbo and bagels in the morning. the lobby was a little strange. it had an odor i can’t identify, and it looked like there as a little electrical maintenance going on behind the counter. the wifi was totally hit or miss the entire time i was there, so if you NEED that to function, you’ll be pissed at this hotel. for me, it was just annoying. the bathroom was clean. the sheets were clean. the bedspread left me a questioning it’s cleanliness, but i was tired so i peeled it back and left my questions for another day and perhaps another guest to ask. the towels… well, that was another question. there was one that was clearly blood stained and they ALL had a funky smell. like really funky. kind of mildewy. i threw them on the floor and grabbed a clean t-shirt out of my backpack of clothes and dried off with THAT as opposed to the towels. yeah, it was THAT kind of unsettling smell. husband and i ate a little dinner. watched a little dateline crime on the television. passed out for a few hours. and checked out before the sun came up. it was clean enough for our purposes. we weren’t going to move in. it is close to lots of places to eat… and also much nicer and cleaner hotels… so if you are looking to stay in st. charles longer, you might check that those out. :)
