Another hidden«gem» nestled in University City’s Olive Link(a.k.a. Chinatown). Big enough to fit four Claire’s within its walls, this store is wall-to-wall cheap costume jewelry. I love coming here to try more daring styles that I’m not yet ready to commit lots of money to. Also, since I lose earrings like it’s my job, I hate paying more than a few bucks for a pair. Need a huge ugly pin? Clip-on earrings for your grandma? A fake coach purse? They’ve got ‘em. This place is almost exactly like ABC Trade Co less than a mile East on Olive. I can’t decide which I like better. ABC seemed to have a bigger selection of huge, long, bulky necklaces. Amkor had a better selection of bracelets and earrings. Both have decent service. This place is dizzying. Even though it’s cheap, you’re gonna end up spending a ton of money here, so budget ahead of time. Also, just accept that what you are getting is low quality and WILL break off your neck within four wearings… I see this place as one of the ultimate«retail therapy» destinations around. You can make yourself feel so much better for just a few dollars. And don’t forget to check out their great selection of rings.

I made my annual trek to Amkor Trading Inc. to fill my jewelry drawer with inexpensive goodies and as usual, was overwhelmed when I walked in. There’s just so much to look at. They carry walls and walls and walls of costume jewelry, luggage, purses, sunglasses, scarves, hair pieces, purse hooks and a treasure trough of low cost specialty items for ladies. Prices range from $ 2-$ 40. Most items are under $ 10. No exchanges or returns. ABC Trading Co is a few blocks away and is similar.

Amkor is one of the best kept secrets in Olivette! They have an amazing selection of costume jewelry and purses… at a steal! I mean, a STEAL! The average pair of earrings costs maybe $ 5…usually less. They have loops, danglies, studs, feathers and whatever else those crazy kids think is stylilsh. Sometimes you can get a matching necklace and earring set for $ 6 or $ 7. They also have scarves, belts, watches and sunglasses. Handbags will cost you a bit more– maybe $ 30 – 40, but that’s still a deal. I’m very hard on my jewelry(stick it in the workout bag and accidentally spill a bottle of water on it, leave it in my jeans pocket and throw the jeans in the wash, etc.) so it doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of money on it. And I’m poor :) So Amkor is a great place for people irresponsible bums like me. OR if you are a big fan of costume jewerly or are looking for some accessories for your Halloween costume, Amkor would also be a great place to check out.
