Fehlig Brothers Box & Lumber

My contractor recommended Fehlig Brothers and I’m so glad he did. I went there to get wood for the baseboard in my powder room. Be patient with me here! This project took place a few months ago and I am slow to write the review so some of the technical terms are escaping me. I think what I got was called a cap– basically it was the top piece on some floor molding. We live in a really old house and we wanted the powder room stuff to match the rest of the house as closely as possible. They had something in stock that worked for us and they cut it to meet our tiny powder room measurements. They were very friendly and patient, even with a woman who clearly doesn’t know a ton about home renovation projects. I wish I had gotten the name of the main employee who worked with me because he really was a friendly, funny, helpful guy. We both grew up in North County so you can ask for the guy who grew up in North County. Kidding. I just wish I knew his name so his employer could read about what a great job he’s doing, that’s why I mention our North County chat.
Anyway, they were all nice. AND, I thought the prices were really cheap. I might not know a ton about home improvement, but in the last year, I have spent a lot of time in big box stores so I know something about prices, and these guys seemed super affordable. What I bought cost under $ 20, I think. Remember, our powder room is airplane bathroom-​sized. When get some money for a new deck or anything else for that matter, I’ll definitely go back to Fehlig Brothers. The employee told me they have whatever I need for any additions or renovations.

Fehlig Brothers beats out Lowe’s & Home Depot in prices and they are certainly tops when it comes to customer service.
I’m working on several outdoor projects (horse holding pens, equestrian gaming equipment, etc.) and they have been very helpful & nice. Their hours aren’t ideal, but luckily I work downtown so it is really easy for me to go pick up my order on my lunch break.
If you’re looking for good prices and great service, this is your place.

Unfortunately, Fehlig Bros. wins best lumber yard in the City by default. However, the good news is that they would likely be tops even with some stiff competition.
They have a pretty good selection of building materials, sheet lumber, and dimensional lumber. The workers here are very knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions, cut what you need, and load you up.
The only complaints I can come up with is that their hours are really bad for weekend warriors. They mostly cater to contractors, so they are open contractor hours. Call before making the trip.
