Great costumes, decorations, and more! Perfect place to get ideas for your Halloween celebrations. It does get crowded towards Halloween, especially on the weekends, so they may not have room in their lot. Conveniently located next to Randall’s Wine and Spirits.

I hate going but where else is there? The reasons are: 1) parking and the ongoing battle between J-​Brocks and the liquor store next door. Come on guys, just make some agreement already! Stop acting like children. So if you don’t pick your time to stop in VERY wisely, you could easily be street parking in a not-​so-​awesome area. 2) the staff is not nice and forget helpful! (hey, do you have blank costume… uhhh, what we have out here is what we have… ok, gee thanks). Meh, I’m tired numbering so in summary, I don’t see that us STL’ers have any other viable options except amazon if you get a good head start which who does?! So, you’ll probably be in the herd at J-​Brocks but you don’t have to like it. Oh! The sizing! I’m pretty fit and they obviuosly cater to a larger crowd so if you like the fast food diet, you’ll probably do way better than me. Happy Halloween all! (thought I think they are open all year but also keep in mind NO RETURNS even if unopened. This place REALLY needs some competition).

If you have not been here… go! Honestly I love the Halloween season, but I have gone here to get things for bachelorette parties, birthday parties and several themed parties throughout the year! The Halloween season gives this place the upper hand with extra scary decorations and endless amounts of frightening items to choose from! If you aren’t in to scary, there are many other choices from hilarious costumes to cute and sexy outfits. Don’t forget they have kids costumes, and outfits for your other children (your pets)! They also have a large section in the back for costume rentals. You can find anything you need here for a memorable Halloween. Decorate your house to be the creepiest in the neighborhood, or make it suitable for the littlest children to stop by without fright for their candy! I will continue to go to this place for all my fun, magical and fantastic costume choices and themed get togethers! All the workers are friendly and helpful! Plus prices here compared to the pop up shops that show up around the Halloween season, are much more reasonable! Go get your scare on

Holy Snicker-​doodles I could spend a whole day in this place and not even be remotely finished looking around. I came in the other day to look for a costume for my niece and was pleasantly surprised at the selection of baby costumes in stock. Not only do they have costumes they have props out the wazoo, but anything you fancy to decorate your abode, car, body, etc.

the place looks a bit sketchy from the outside but if you’re looking to build your own costume or buy one you won’t be disappointed. they have all sorts of props and costumes for all ages and creepy decorations your home.

Johnnie you are my hero. You saved my ass this St. Patrick’s Day and I don’t think it was just the luck of the Irish. You know your holidays and offer up a large variety of merchandise to meet the needs of all who celebrate.
It was the 16^th of March and I had procrastinated getting some green to wear at work on the 17^th. I was driving home from work on 44 West and it was almost 5 PM. I quickly exited at Jefferson and the stoplights were in my favor. The Parking Angels were also with me and I got the space right outside their entrance. As I entered, on the heels of four other shoppers, we were greeted with, «We’re closing in 5 minuets». Having been in retail, I know what it is like to have new shoppers arrive right at closing. It’s frustrating, but the staff here still gave their A-​Game in service.
Johnnie is so smart with his merchandising, he had all the St. Patty’s Day stuff up front near the entrance. All of us quickly shopped, found our treasures for the next day and headed to the check out. I found a great headband, with antennas that had spinning shamrocks on top and a shamrock beaded necklace with a Leprechaun. Everyone loved the headband, so it is a true keeper. I’ll be wearing it for years to come.
Don’t just think Johnnie Brock’s is for Halloween and Mardi Gras, he’s got you covered for all the holidays. So let the party begin.

It’s the best place to stock up for party supplies in Saint Louis. They have just about anything you could ever think of and since they’re open all year round, their stock is continually changing for the season. Go check out the rocking old lady, quite possibly one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen. The prices are a little high and the parking is a pain in the ass at times, but not so much that I would ever not consider supporting a local business.

I don’t understand the lower reviews this place gets, I have been shopping at this location for a few years now, and the worse complaint I have about this place is the parking. Each year I come here to find a Halloween costume and /​or costume ideas and accessories.
the prices are high, but very comparable to other Halloween shops and prices, and man they have one of the largest selections of costumes I have ever seen. they have tons of employees working to assist you and they have dressing rooms that you can try your costume on, its best you do because there are NO refunds or exchanges on the costumes, so make sure its what you want.
they are open year round which is nice, and they offer decorations too for ALL holidays even obscure ones I’m sure.

If you need crap for a party… you need to come here. They’ll get you geared up for Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween and everything in between. The inventory here is in a warehouse. This means that there’s no real air conditioning, but the selection is endless. I used to like the Hampton Village location better, but I believe they’ve consolidated it’s inventory and staff into this location.

I never knew this was a shop year round! I just thought Johnnie Brock’s opened for Halloween and maybe Mardi Gras, but it really is open year round! How fun.
I am glad that my first visit was with a friend who had been before because I had no idea where the door was or how to get it. It was actually kind of scary and I almost got side-​tracked at the liquor store next door. Liquor always calls my name! Upon entering I was so excited to see all the awesome-​ness! So many party supplies! This is seriously like a Party City on crack or something! Now I know where to shop when I throw my next party!
I was shopping for Mardi Gras and there was an entire room filled with Mardi Gras supplies, beads, boas, cups, etc. I was so excited to see the selection. Thank you Johnnie! You saved my Mardi Gras!
I could have gotten lost inside, but thankfully my friend made sure we only got what we needed which didn’t give me much time to wander off as I tend to do normally. The staff were friendly and offered to help me find stuff, not that I needed help, but it was a nice gesture.
I found what I needed and went to cash out but of course I had to check out the entire selection and noticed they have everything in here! I will be back just because it’s a place I can have fun in.

When it comes time for Halloween, though I completely despise dressing up, I usually have to go somewhere to get some sort of semi-​costume-​y outfit. When it comes that time, I do ANYTHING I can possibly do to avoid JB’s. Why, you ask? The parking situation alone gives me nightmares as I’ve almost hit a moving car on two separate occasions and I’ve almost been run over (on foot) once. Major headache material.
Yesterday, to my dismay, as I was walking into the place a girl dressed as a giant squirrel jumped out from behind the door with a «GO CARDINALS! WELCOME TO JOHNNIE BROCK’S!» What she could have just said was, «HI! I JUST POPPED OUT FROM BEHIND THIS DOOR TO SCARE THE F*** OUT OF YOU. Isn’t that funny?! WELCOME!» I did not enjoy, and I also don’t enjoy that freaky fake old lady with her mouth hanging open rocking back and forth right when you walk in. It’s Halloween, I get it, but that thing is just disgusting and disturbing. I guess the jury is in and they determined I’d rather get treats than deal with the tricks.
The plus side of JB’s is that they have one hell of a selection. Slutty everything, if that’s what you’re into, which I am not. I did, however, score some awesome life-​like fake blood and cool net arm things to wear at Unilocal’s Chiller Theater in KC on Wednesday. Was pretty cheap, too! That isn’t a trend though, as their costumes are expeeeeensive. And you can’t return them, either, so make sure to try them on in the awkward dressing rooms to make sure everything fits.
You can get what you need for Halloween here, definitely, but you have to deal with massive crowds of parents with screaming kids, couples picking out their matching costumes, and just overall madness. I know this review makes me sound like the Grinch of Halloween, but I really just don’t love the hassle of it all. I AM glad I have the madhouse of Johnnie Brock’s though to get me through with the goods I need.

Prefacing this review with the fact that I hate Halloween and anything even remotely associated with Halloween, except candy, unless said candy is laced with rat poison by a creepy neighbor that you’ve always wondered about.
I especially hate Halloween because it reminds me how f-​ing lazy kids are allowed to be these days. My God, kids, get a fricking imagination. Seriously. The past few years they can barely get their fat asses out to even go trick-​or-​treating. They drag themselves to your porch, giant pillowcase in tote, and you open the door and they just stare at you, expecting a king size snickers just for smearing some fake blood on a sweatshirt they wear every day. Kid, if you don’t know what you’re supposed to be, NOT A GOOD COSTUME. Also, I’m not about enforcing a cut-​off age for trick-​or-​treating, but if you’re too cool to say «trick or treat», stay the F off my porch. And finally, for the love of God, MAKE YOUR OWN COSTUME! Store-​bought costumes are for… I don’t know. Music videos or high school plays. Not for Halloween. My God. You have the internet. You don’t even have to be creative. In my day we had to think up the idea on our own AND figure out how to make it on our own. With the Internet, Goodwill, and a few bucks at your disposal, I just don’t see why kids these days feel the need to buy a billion dollar costume.
And don’t even get me started on the slutty nurses thing. Because let’s face it, if I had a hot bod I’d probably go as a slutty nurse, so I’m just a bitter fat hag who bags on slutty nurse costumes. I should start a club.
Okay but seriously. We don’t need slutty squirrel costumes. Let’s leave it at slutty nurse and be done with it.
Taking all of the aforementioned bitchiness into account, FOR A COSTUME STORE which sells OVERPRICED costumes which you should not be buying, Johnnie Brock’s is decent. Pretty incredible selection, even including some plus-​sizes. They had some very unique things, including novelty items for your porch and ridiculously overzealous Halloween party, that you would not be able to find elsewhere.
As a party store, this place is LAME, and you’d find better crap at a dollar store. Not enough penis straws or «Over the Hill» tiaras, in my humble opinion.
The thing that sets this place apart is their customer service. Holy mother of God. Those kids DEFINITELY watched a training video and have definitely been given standards. Like, within 2 seconds of walking in they were all up on me, helping me with my Halloween needs (I need it to be over). And then, like, every 3 seconds they checked in to make sure I was still okay (is it still October?). Honestly, they were so amazing, I would like to encourage them to go work at places where I actually NEED good customer service. It seemed so futile in a place like this. Oh, I need a purple wig. Oh, ok, here’s the purple wig we sell. Oh, it’s expensive. But seeing as you pretty much dominate the St. Louis Halloween Costume market… Yup. Okay. I’ll take it.
Edited to note that I did not purchase a purple wig here. I did, though, buy about 200 mardi gras beads, assorted colors, for a decent price. Sound like the bitch who hates Halloween’s party is still going to PWN your party. !!!

If it’s party– or costume-​related, chances are Johnny Brock’s has it stocked. Only seasonal Halloween warehouses have larger selections, but like the delicate cherry blossom, the life of these warehouses is very limited. As any city resident knows, STL offers an abundance of opportunities to go outside in public, in some costume of another, apart from Halloween. Enter, Johnny Brock’s. Mardi Gras, St. Patty’s Day, Christmas, any holiday or pseudo-​holiday you can think of is covered here by way of wigs, hats, costumes, party swag, etc. Some of the aforementioned offerings are junk, some is overpriced, some are both. But most of the wares offered here are just what you’re looking for.

I wish this place were in San Diego! It’s a theme party-​goers dream. No matter what kind of wack-​tastic event you find yourself attending I’d bet you a bundle that Johnnie Brock’s would have something to hook you up.
I recently picked up some killer creepy Santa accessories for the STL holiday shindig that would make Billy Bob Thornton look like George Clooney. I can only imagine the amount of stuff they get in here around Halloween cuz they have a gymnasium-​sized warehouse to work with.
Granted it’s a little pricey, but costume shops usually are. If I’m ever back in this neck of the woods I know where to get my themed party threads! Brock it to me baby!

When Johnny Brock’s Dungeon moved into it’s current location on Jefferson, I thought it was going to be one of those transient Halloween stores that pop up in September and is in November. Well, this place proved me wrong. They have stuff all year round.
Halloween is definitely their heyday… they have more costumes than you could imagine… for kids and adults, and for women they carry more than just those «sexy nurse», «sexy prisoner», etc. costumes! There is also a huge number of wigs, makeup, and decorations to choose from. Be careful at Halloween though… don’t wait until the day before to head to Johnny Brocks… the line was about 100 people long!
They turn over their inventory quickly based on the time of year, Mardi Gras, St. Paddys, and now it looks like their summer stuff is coming out. Usually at the beginning of a new season, they have sales or clearances on any of last year’s stuff that didn’t sell, so keep your eyes peeled! If you’re looking for a place to find that unusual costume piece or decoration you’ve been looking for, this is it!

Johnnie Brocks is the go-​to store in St. Louis for all kinds of holiday attire. On my most recent trip, I came here for some St. Paddy’s accessories and a pinup costume. Random, I know! When you work a lot of events, you tend to have a need for strange things… ’tis my life!
During Halloween season, the costume selection is much more expansive. But you can still find most of what you’d need here all year ’round. Found some fun green sunglasses for March 17 and a cute little sailor getup for a burlesque show tomorrow night.
The gals who work here don’t mess around — they will get you in and out quickly. Just be careful and don’t feel rushed because they don’t refund your purchase, it’s store credit only.

This Johnnie Brock’s isn’t closed (I’ve submitted the change to Unilocal), it just has seasonal hours. Don’t ask me what they are though.
Big pro: Right next to Randall’s. When you’re in the holiday spirit, it helps having, well, spirits right next door.
They have a huge selection of costumes, accessories, makeup, etc. However, the prices aren’t anything wonderful (you get the impression that they have really awesome prices compared to the standard fly by night Halloween places. They don’t).
That said, they’re still the place to go – plus they’re locally owned.
