Is this place still open? I just got a cancellation of a reservation via Open Table… and after driving by, it looks like they’re packing up boxes… Oh, and their website has nothing but a picture of a single cocktail.

first time to Mazara. Will DEFINITELY go back! The service was AWESOME! Our wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly! The food was amazing! there are several items on the menu that I MUST try I only wish they were open later — my dinner partner and I felt like we were rushed to leave since they close at 9 on weekdays.(the restaurant down the street has a BOOMING late nite crowd!)

I have never actually set foot inside Mazara but after having a slice of the Mazara pizza brought to me for lunch, I’m sold. The base is a hardy wheat like pita crust, grilled crispy on the bottom, softer on the inside and good & crunchy at the ends. It’s loaded with grilled veggies, fontina, mozzarella and goat cheese topped with field greens and drizzled with balsamic. So good, I’d get it again.

The food was ok at best. The salads were probably the best part of the meal. However, the service was really slow, it took about an hour to get our meals and then they brought us cold coffee after the meal. Would not recommend thus place due to it’s high prices and average food.

Lunch time in Clayton — oh the options! Mazara it is… first time visiting and it was really quite nice. For lunch at almost noon it was still a little empty. Our server was really awesome!!! brunette, bubbly personality, I can’t recall her name! Darn. She described the specials with such detail I was tempted to order one of each. I opted for the butternut squash soup with a hint of sage and vanilla. It was really delicious. Not as hot as it could have been, but certainly tasty. I followed up with a mixed field greens salad, goat cheese dressing, fried artichoke hearts and pickled onions, again really great! The bread and oil they start you off with is an awesome starter. The oil mixed with an array of spices and the bread was just warm to the touch and soft.

I came here last night for Clayton Restaurant Week along with the bf. I ordered the calamari, rigatoni and chocolate cake. The calamari was so-so. The rigatoni was a bit spicy for me & allright. Chocolate cake was so-so as well. It had a weird taste & is nothing like a typical spongy cake. It was more like a pie. The berry sauce that came with the chocolate cake was mostly strawberry & was quite delish! Nothing really stood out except for the wait service, berry sauce that came with the chocolate cake, bread & olive oil. Watch out for the olive oil cruet(glass container that olive oil is served in) that comes with the bread. The cruet is very thin & is easily breakable. That goes the same for the water glasses. Ambience was great. Exceptional service but so-so food.

I enjoyed dinner last night at Mazara. The service was friendly and fairly quick, though the restaurant was only about 1⁄3 full. I tried the beer & cheese sound and Tutto Mara, both were wonderful. The bar area looks fairly nice too, but beer selection is limited. This is a restaurant I would try again.

I really have a natch for trying new restaurants with my Grandma, which makes for a great time or a really bad time. This time around it wasn’t so pleasant. However, the bread and olive oil were the best thing at the table. I ordered the Insalata Mista and it was nothing but lettuce. I was hoping for some more veggies that they listed on the menu, but that was a disappointment. My grandma had the fried tilapia sandwich with a salad on the side. The tilapia sandwich was also a bit of a bust. The fish was fried delicately, which was nice but the roll was large and in charge! The sauce wasn’t quite enough to make the sandwich delicious. It was really just so so. We were in and out within 40 minutes and that was probably the up side to the whole meal.

Tried Mazara with the girls last night for Clayton Restaurant Week. I had never really noticed it on that block, next to the Crossing. Pros: — Polenta Frites and the chocolate pot di crème. The highlights of my meal. Also a big fan of the dipping oil for the bread. — Friendly service. Cons: — Mazara is by no means a fancy place, but I was a bit surprised by the tables, booths and chairs. They were just SO casual that it looked strange. I’m sure it looks cute during lunch hours, but reminded me a bit of the tables and chairs at a taqueria. — The bolognese was decent, but I was expecting it to be more impressive. Mine was also not hot — only warm-ish, so that may have been the issue. I will likely be back to try other things on the menu when it isn’t Restaurant Week, but not in a huge rush.
