Medina Mediterranean Grill

This place has the best mid-​priced food that I have had downtown. As a vegetarian, their falafel is delicious, with more flavor than many other places that simply fry chickpeas. Make sure to get it spicy!

This place is amazing. This is my second time here. Both times I have gotten the original Palestine. It’s a really flavorful wrap with your choice of beef or chicken. I can now say that both are great. Service is fast and friendly. Seating area and bottom are both very clean and nice.

I’ve tried the falafel sandwich and the original Palestine chicken schwarma sandwich (I’m a traditionalist). First time with their spicy sauce and the second time without.
As someone who loves to douce hot sauce over everything, I actually liked their sandwiches without hot sauce even more. Again, it has to do with the fact that medina has its own unique (tasty) take to staples such as falafel and chicken schwarma. There was just something else that I cannot pinpoint that helped elevate the flavors of the sandwiches. Perhaps it’s their tahini sauce, I’m not sure what it is, just that it was additive and good! That’s probably the best description I can write to differentiate Medina and put it on a pedestal compared to other Middle Eastern/​halal restaurants.

I have high standards for Middle Eastern food, but I love this place. I just tried it today, but you better believe that I’ll be back a lot.

This was such a standout falafel sandwich! Crispy hot falafel, tart crunchy pickled bits, lettuce, tomato, and the perfect amount of sauce to bring it all together. Pita was warm, soft, chewy and fresh as could be. I will definitely be back. Looking forward to trying one of the other sandwiches. Especially now that I know you can make it a combo and get falafel as a side! Service was warm, friendly, and fast, especially for prime lunch time.

Great local spot. This place has awesome food! I have lived downtown for 4 years now and I was glad to see a new business downtown. I was even happier to see they had great food and fast service. Staff is always friendly. Checks this place out!

Fantastic food and great service. The menu is small making it more café style. The original Palestine was the best in my opinion. I tried the others and they were all really good. Perfectly made.

Guys, if you haven’t been here yet, stop what you are doing and get to Medina ASAP.
I would not put mediterranean food as my top choice, or really even if the top 5 if I was looking for a spot to eat, but Medina might have just changed that forever.
The Juicy Jerusalem changed my life. Its a unique take on a classic cheesesteak, with chicken shawarma, grilled peppers, onions, sauce and cheese. I could eat it twice a day.

I’ve had many falafels in my life but this is by far thee best. Talk about a marriage of flavors! I had an original and tasted some of the spicy. I liked the original better.
I really wasn’t sure if one would be enough but it definitely was. The amount of crunchy, vibrant toppings, my extra tahini sauce, with hot and crispy chick pea balls made my dinner experience so great.
The customer service was very good. That’s always the icing on top, receiving great customer service with a smile.

Nice lunch before the fun of City Museum. The restaurant is small with a warm, fairly intimate feel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We orders the hummus, Medina Grilled Cheese and Summer in Dubai. The food was prepared rather quickly and was amazing! I could definitely come back here during my next visit to St. Louis!

Good food and generous portions. Indigenous artwork and music complement the menu offerings. Break from the usual burger and fries and chow down on this yummy Mediterranean delishousness! Staff is very friendly too!

A Mediterranean gem downtown St. Louis! They are extremely friendly inside and thoroughly explain the menu if it’s your first time. They’re super accommodating also and are very open to customizing your order however you like instead of being strict on the menu. I got the Summer in Dubai sandwich and it was fresh and very tasty. Can’t wait to go back.

A great, in-​and-​out shawarma joint and a welcome addition to the downtown area!
It’s not the best shawarma in St. Louis (Al-​Tarboush Deli still holds that place in my heart) but it’s easily the runner-​up. The meats are all delicious and the combinations are fun and tasty. I’ve had the wraps, salads and sandwiches and all are great choices. My goto is the «Original Palestine» but if you like shawarma, and who doesn’t (I mean, really?) I don’t think you’d be disappointed in anything on the menu.
Really for the price and the quality, this is one of the best lunch/​snack venues downtown. Don’t miss a chance to swing by!

I ordered the Classic Falafel wrap sandwich and it was very good! The staff working there was really nice, too. The wait was not too long.
The restaurant is very clean and bright. There are some pretty Islamic calligraphy artworks on the wall.
If you enjoy walking around on Washington Ave and want to grab a quick meal during the day, this is the place for you to check out.

Medina grill is a new addition to Washington ave replacing the gelateria. Is a small place but we’ll deviated and modern. Patio seating outside. They stay authentic and the original Palestine is fantastic. Not your typical mediterranean grill. Great place to grab a quick lunch for carryout or eat in during the work week or weekend. Staff is quite friendly.

I can’t wait for them to work out the kinks… the wait can exceed 15 minutes for a sandwich at times.
The good news… there is no competition and this is going to be a great late-​late-​late night drunk food spot!
Yes, schwarma was legit, I could have easily had two! On a down side, it’s a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I’ll be back!

Split an Original Palestine and Summer on Dubai (on a pita instead of the standard French bread) with my boyfriend, and both were flavorful and delicious. The Original Palestine left a great first impression, in particular. The service was also very friendly and polite. My only complaint is that the serving sizes seemed pretty small for $ 7 after tax – did not get nearly as much pita filling as the picture another Unilocal user posted here. Could have just been the particular guy making my sandwich.
In any case, this would make for a tasty, light-​ish lunch and I will definitely be returning.

I had the beef original Palestine and it was excellent! It’s basically a gyro. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The person I was with got a side of falafel and really enjoyed it. I believe the sandwich was $ 6 – 7 and a side of falafel and a drink was an extra $ 3. The food was pretty fast as well!
The staff were very friendly. They gave us samples before we bought.
The restaurant was clean and had a modern, cozy design! Great addition to Wash Ave! If they had delivery or online ordering that would be a nice touch.

It’s so nice to have Medina here as a new cuisine option here on Washington Ave! The pita sandwiches are good and reasonably priced ($ 5.50 — $ 6.50). I’m a fan of the Original Palestine with beef. I’ve also tried the Juicy Jerusalem, which is kind of like a cheesesteak. The service is nice, although on the slow side, but that’s probably because they’re so new.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Medina, patiently waiting for the Mediterranean goodness to finally be available downtown. I can say this, it didn’t disappoint. It looks like Medina will do well in this space, as it is small enough to be cozy but has plenty of seating for a light lunch crowd. I believe today was their third day open, and the service was pretty fast for a new restaurant.
The interior is clean and tidy (see pic). The food was definitely something I’ve been waiting for downtown, even with Taze opening soon, this was a nice addition to Wash Ave on the west side.
I had the Original Palestine with beef. The beef is very similar to gyro meat. Very tender and flat topped for a quick crust after being sliced from the rotating spit. All of the veggies were fresh, and the tahini sauce was flavorful. I will say two things, as a gyro lover, I’d probably skip the tahini sauce and ask for the cucumber sauce next time. Also, I think the pitas come out of a bag, instead of being made fresh, you can definitely tell the difference. Not that the pita was bad, but it wasn’t as fluffy as it could’ve been, and was cold instead of being kept warm in a steam drawer or something like that. Either way, I could probably eat this pita sandwich every day for lunch.
The Mrs. had the C’zar salad. It was a decent salad, though she said she probably wouldn’t get it again. The dressing wasn’t very flavorful, and $ 4.50 for a half salad, about the side of a side salad, was a little steep.
Overall, I give a solid 4 stars. The service and food were very good, and we’ll definitely be back to try everything else!
