History
Established in 1932.
In 1932, a group of prominent St. Louisans who believed that child spacing might be one way to improve the health of mothers and children, met to establish a birth control association — The Maternal Health Association of Missouri. The first clinic was opened in May, and years later, the organization changed its name to Planned Parenthood. Today, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region has eight health centers in the bi-state area and provide medical services to over 50,000 women, men and teens yearly. The Education Center staff had organized workshops and resources for over 17,000 individuals and Teen Peer-to-Peer Educator Programs had won distinguished local and national awards for its high success rate in promoting sexuality responsibility and in preventing teen pregnancy. We are committed to providing quality, affordable health care to all of our community.
