I bought popcorn from here to use a favor gift for our wedding. The guest LOVED the popcorn and kept wanting more. So glad they enjoyed our delicious treats from you. It was perfect!

I agree that — at that price — they have a particular obligation to sell only the fresh stuff. In my experience, it’s been mostly good, but they did slip up once.
Use of Bissinger’s chocolate and other high-​end ingredients is certainly worth the cost. The Chicago mix is excellent (though they don’t call it that, they should.) The cheese varieties are a huge huge step above the packaged stuff you find in the stores.
Location is terrible, unless you have the misfortune of living/​shopping around Frontenac. They’d be great on the Loop or the CWE, or how about Cherokee St. («yeah…right!» the owner is sayin’)

not the best… overpriced

I just bought a groupon or was it a living social deal, but in any case, I immediately went to their website. I was a bit surprised by the high price but I said to myself «this better be worth it!» I’m glad I acted fast because the items that contain chocolate cannot be shipped out of their immediate area after late April. Good thing spring has been late coming because there was no problem shipping my large tin of Chocolate Lovers popcorn which contains 3 varieties. The popcorn arrived quickly and securely, well packed. It was fresh and delicious. My family is going wild for it. I love it. The company has good and prompt communication. I don’t know what I was thinking ordering the large though bc it’s a ton of popcorn. It is very gourmet though and the way we’re plowing through it, it’s probably a good thing that we got the large.

Bought a Groupon and then went to the website to check it out. I am a huge popcorn lover however the lowest price they have is $ 30.00 for the natural flavor! That is really really steep for popcorn. I did look at all their options and while they did sound yummy, I am not going to lie I am not paying $ 50 to $ 65 for some popcorn even with the Groupon I had it was still too much. So I just went with the natural, I figured that way we could each add our own flavors at home. Popcorn arrived in a bag closed with a zip tie inside a sealed tin. Not sure where the failure in that system is but the popcorn was the most stale thing I have ever eaten in my life. Even my teenagers haven’t touched it and they will eat just about anything. I have gotten more fresher popcorn

The most delicious popcorn! My favorites are «Truffle» and «Over the Pop.»
Deserving of five stars if only the price was a bit less.

I’ll confess I’ve only tried the Over The Top and the Gooey Butter and honestly, the Gooey Butter was rather unwillingly. My husband stopped in on his way home and as they were out of the other flavor I’d requested, decide to surprise me with it. I’m generally not a fan most things gooey butter-​related (other than in teeny doses) so I was less than enthused.
What a strange and wonderful surprise! I actually hate popcorn as a rule, but who can resist anything coated in chocolate and caramel? The gooey butter was equally good and I can’t begin to describe whether or not it actually tastes authentic but it’s super yum.
I feel bad for everyone that had issues with shipping. I probably wouldn’t order something like popcorn through a website but that’s just my own neuroses (and utter dislike of popcorn) talking. I haven’t had any issues with purchasing in-​store personally.

I recently hosted a baby shower and I had the idea to have gourmet popcorn, lollipops, and pop tarts combined as the party favor. I googled gourmet popcorn and POPtions came up. I emailed the site and was responded to promptly! I went to the store to taste test, Andrew and Bridgette were awesome! I never felt rushed to make a decision and was encouraged to try every flavor (and they have MANY options) They were very accommodating, I had a sticker I wanted to put on the bag and they did it for me. The popcorn was a hit at the baby shower! The mom-​to-​be said she had a ton of calls and texts on how awesome the popcorn tasted! The quality and customer service is going to make me become a full time customer. You will not be disappointed!

I had purchased item through Groupon, and decided to just let the item go. They had a special on «free shipping» so I thought it would be ideal before my voucher expired. But the fine print said «can’t use with any other coupons, offers, etc». Well that didn’t see fair. Shipping is almost as if you were just purchasing a tin yourself. And from the other reviews I’ve seen, I’m glad I didn’t put forth the effort.

Ordered their Best of St. Louis 2 gallon tub using a groupon (or was it living social?) coupon.
The good… 1) shipping — ordered on a Thursday, arrived the next Tuesday. 2) Popcorn — all 3 flavors were really tasty and well seasoned. The Gooey Butter pop is exactly how it sounds and total unique.
The bad… sorry, but no way I would ever pay the full price of $ 55 (plus shipping) for this. A 2 gallon tub is not nearly as big as it sounds. Even with the groupon (paid $ 15 for $ 30 worth of popcorn), there was still another $ 25 to pay, so $ 40 on popcorn? Just really is not a good value.
So to sum it up… 5 on shipping speed, 4.5 on popcorn, and 1 on value.

If you can’t get to Garretts in Chicago, I would say POPtions is a close 2^nd to satisfy your popcorn craving.
A friend had talked about POPtions before and since I work right by it I figured I would stop in one afternoon. I was in heaven! They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, flavors that I wouldn’t have thought to have on popcorn before (I tried their Puppy Chow yesterday… delish) but ultimately I always buy a bag of cheddar because I love it. My husband is a fan of their jalapeño cheddar.
Their pricing isn’t bad and your craving is always satisfied. Their staff, each time I have come in, has been very helpful and nice and ready to wait on me. Their location, next to Schneithorst’s in Frontenac is convenient to the highway and whatnot.
This will be a frequent stop for me :)

I walked into Poptions to buy a gift for a customer of mine. I was excited to see what the store was all about. I had let two groupons expire and the friendly sales gal told me they would still offer face value for the Groupons… Yeah! They also had a great promotion going on, which was $ 10 off a two gallon tin of popcorn.
I proceeded to ask about prices, sizes and flavors. I was surprised at how expensive it is… But, a two gallon tin is really large. I ended up buying a two gallon tin for my customer and getting the $ 10 off, plus I saved my Groupons for when I am not expensing it!
Also — the gals told me I could try whatever kinds of popcorn I would like and I received a coupon for a free scoop of serendipity and a punch card… The gals liked my dress, which of course made me happy… Just all so friendly and such! I WILL BE BACK to try more popcorn and the salted caramel ice cream! :)

What can I say about POPtions? Let me begin with I LOVE THIS PLACE! I know the prices are outrageous, but it is gourmet popcorn and I don’t go very often; but when I do go it is very common to spend about $ 20 on the good flavored popcorn. I am a huge gooey-​butter fan! My first time visiting POPtions was in January when my sister was in town visiting (she lives in Tampa, FL with the rest of my family). She and I splurged and ordered 3 bags of this delicious snack! We both fell in love with the flavors. In fact, my sister and I just ordered a tin for our mother as a way to say «Thanks, and We Love You!». This snack is a great way to show someone you care about them; who doesn’t love popcorn? Oh, and there is a Groupon right now in STL for POPtions! I just purchased it; since I am certain I will be back for a visit soon enough.

I’m not gonna lie; after reading all of the other (mostly bad) reviews about Poptions, I wasn’t looking forward to my visit. Bad service? Mediocre popcorn? Did I mention that I’m not a huge popcorn fan to begin with? Gahh!
But I had a Groupon that was about to expire, so I headed up on a Sunday afternoon to see what it was all about.
I walked in and was immediately greeted by a super friendly girl working the counter. Hmm, not bad. I took some time to study the menu and see what they had to offer.
Wow — they had a TON of varieties of popcorn! It was actually a bit overwhelming. The girl told me I could sample as much as I wanted. Nice. Not wanting to be greedy, I just asked for a sample of the gooey butter cake popcorn. It was deliciously sweet and really did taste like gooey butter cake! Yum.
I went with the Over the Top popcorn (caramel popcorn topped with dark and white chocolate) and the specialty flavor of the day, which was some sort of praline popcorn (caramel popcorn mixed with sweet pralines and some other goodies that I don’t remember!)
Two small-​ish bags of the stuff came to about $ 15. Yeah. Not cheap at all. Thank God for my Groupon! :)
I paid for my order and received a ‘frequent flyers’ punch card; buy 10 bags of popcorn, get one free. Cool. I also received a coupon for a free scoop of Serendipity ice cream (yes, they serve that here as well!) with a $ 10 order. Next time!
Anyway, I walked back to the car with my goodies and immediately opened the bags to sample my purchases.
OH. MY. GOSH. This popcorn was absolutely amazing. And this is coming from someone who really isn’t crazy about popcorn. The Over the Top popcorn was SO good. Like, eyes rolling in the back of your head good. I haven’t felt that sort of ecstasy since… well, we won’t get into that. But it was GOOD. And the praline popcorn was just as delicious.
So after a few bites of each flavor, I knew I had to go back for more. Now. I rushed back into the store and ordered two more bags; this time, a bag of caramel and a bag of caramel cheddar mix. Both were amazing.
And then I drove all the way to my grandmother’s house to drop off all four bags of popcorn. Because if there’s one person who knows their popcorn, it’s her!
She loved it. LOVED it. And she’s now the proud owner of four decadent bags of specialty popcorn. Because there’s NO WAY I would be able to control myself around that crack… err…popcorn.
BOTTOM LINE — This popcorn is amazing. The service was fine while I was there. Yes, it’s expensive, but you shouldn’t be eating this popcorn everyday, anyway. It’s well worth the price, in my opinion. This is one of those ‘once a year’ treats.
Go here. GO GO GO GO GO.

Bottom Line: Without the Groupons and other assorted discounts, I am afraid this place is just too pricey. Other disappointments await, as well.
My Second Visit:
Just stopped in for a second visit to Poptions. Several things occurred on this visit that make me lean towards avoiding coming here in the future.
After buying two bags of popcorn (which were good in the past), the «hoops» that you play in this store make it annoying.
Hoop #1: You must spend over $ 10 in order to use a credit card.
Hoop #2: Not so much a hoop, but I thought I had read you could bring in your shopping bag from a prior purchase and get a discount. Well, not the case. That said, my bag was thrown away and it could have been reused.
Total bill for four bags of popcorn was ~$ 12 *after* $ 14 Goupon.
I have a feeling they use some quality ingredients, in their defense, but this amount is just too costly for popcorn.

Yummy popcorn, but what pulled my rating down was the service. The gentleman at the counter seemed quite sour. You work at a specialty popcorn shop, man! Crack a smile!
Otherwise, yummy varieties and clean facility. Okay, I guess I’ll give it a 3.

Popcorn — Stale. (They should be embarrassed)
Customer Service — Poor & Unfriendly.
Flavors — Unique. (Saved them from getting a lone star rating)

STALE POPCORN!!! I was delighted to find Groupons for gourmet popcorn in St. Louis. I purchased 3 for Christmas gifts for family members in other cities. I was just about to purchase more Groupons, but decided to take a drive to the actual store. I wanted to get the right one for family members.
I always try to support local businesses instead of franchised establishments. However, I was sooo disappointed. I purchased a small bag and did not use my Groupon. Although, there are many flavors, it tastes like bagged popcorn that is coated with chocolate or seasonings. I have asked Groupon for a refund. I hope they will give me my money back (they did). If you like POPtions try Garrett’s Popcorn from Chicago. It is pricey, but amazing. You will not regret it!

I am not a popcorn fanatic or expert. But what I like is this place’s dedication to popcorn. They have a passion for the product and it shows in all the varieties that are offered. Many things can be over come by the feeling that these people love what they are doing. Gourmet popcorn at its finest. Way to go guys keep up the good work.
