Overpriced, I got ript off and its not like my updo ended up like I really wanted it to be. It only took him 20 minutes to style my hair.
The reason I did not ask him how much it would cost to style my hair is because I have gone to the best salons in St. Louis and the most I have been charged for updo style is $ 35. When I saw that he charged me $ 60 I was shocked, with tip $ 70. Come on give me a break. What a rip off! Never will go back.

So happy I came here! I have had Rebecca do my hair and eyebrows every time, and I never leave without setting up my next appointment. She is so fun and does an awesome job. I’m always bad at making decisions, but she has great recommendations and never pushes me towards anything — I definitely feel comfortable with her and trust her judgement! I have recommended her to many of my friends, and both of my sisters have come in to see her. They both had wonderful experiences and were super thankful that I sent them to her!
My sister, who is rather picky after living in New York for a couple years, said she hasn’t had a hair stylist in Stl that she has liked as much as the work Rebecca did for her :)
The atmosphere is welcoming and calm and doesn’t have that crazy «salon» smell like most places. Give it a try — reasonable prices for quality work. Plus they love to give discounts and deals on things like waxes and massages!

Love this salon, it is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the street. Great eclectic decorations and all the stylists are so sweet. See Jessica!

Ok… judging by the vast majority of reviews, and the other experience I had here a few years ago, I must have gone on an «off» day… This review is difficult to write bc I felt pretty good leaving the salon.
I saw Dane recently. Called that morning and got an appt that day. Great! I just needed a trim and to clean up my messy rat’s nest. We talked for a minute about my hair. It’s very thick and very wavy in the back. I said I didn’t want to go ANY shorter than my shoulders and preffered to stay a couple inches below my shoulders. I remember saying that I wear my hair up just about every day bc it’s very difficult for me to manage and I just don’t have time in the AM to fuss with it.
My back was turned to the mirror when he started cutting, and I was shocked when I was spun back around and my hair was AT my shoulders at its longest point! However, I decided not to say anything, bc, really, what’s the point? You can’t uncut hair… so instead, I adjusted my expectations and internalized my doubt, and tried to see the sunny-​side. After all, Dane is a professional, and surely would know what’s best.
I left feeling good, bc my hair was lighter (he cut about 7 inches off), looked sassy and cute (it was wet, and I was advised to let it air dry as I usually do at home) and I was, at the time, impressed that he was able to produce results in 15 minutes. 15 minutes! As a working mom who crams in a LOT on the weekends, I thought this was great. I tipped him 25% bc I did feel good about it — I always tend to tip generously when someone has to wrestle with my jungle of a mop…
As it dried, problems started becoming apparent. It’s uneven, as in one side is shorter than the other side, I have longer bits that were missed when he was trimming — I cut a lot of them yesterday, but a couple more have presented themselves today. Even though I stated that I wear my hair up almost exclusively, I can’t get it in a low ponytail without huge chunks falling out. It’s not sufficiently thinned, so the bottom is poofy and just looks bad. I spent 30 minutes messing with it this morning, and DID NOT want to leave the house bc I am so uncomfortable with how I look. This is the shortest it’s been in a decade, and it’s not well done.
I recognize that SOME of the issues I’m having are on me. I should have said something about the length when I saw how short it was. I could have shown him photos of styles I liked. But, after looking on their online booking site, I saw that a cut/​style is listed at 45 minutes — 3x the amount of time that was spent on my hair. I feel like the technical issues I have could have been avoided if the standard amount of time was spent on the cut. :(
I’m very disappointed after reading all the 5-​star reviews. It’s obvious that I have somehow fallen through the cracks of the great service offered here.

*This may be a less than savory review, but it’s absolutely not a rant.
If this person wanted a positive outcome all she needed to do was call. I would gladly address her concerns. I always want the client to love their hair, but that’s not always possible. Sometimes they just don’t know what they want!
*I did know what I wanted. Hair that was at or below my shoulders, not hair that was above my shoulders when it was wet. That was what I communicated, but not what I received. It’s not always possible for clients to be happy when the stylist just doesn’t listen…
Anyone with eyes can see that her body and shoulders are tilted in the photo. And as for that «long piece», we’ll she obviously changed her part. That «long piece» was cut to be on the other side. It’s just funny how some will tell you, «your the professional, do what you want».
*I can assure you that I did not tamper with my hair, change my part, or tilt/​lean to make my hair in the photos look worse than it was. I never uttered «do what you want» to this stylist. I was clear about some basic things that went ignored. I have no interest in falsifying anything simply for my own amusment. C’mon…
Then they go back to wearing it as before, and then give the stylist a salacious review.
*I haven’t gone back to wearing it as I did before, because it’s 7−8″ shorter so that is physically impossible. I’m giving Salon Element a 2-​star review based on the fact that too little time was spent on my hair and avoidable errors resulted.
If you want to be respected, you should be respectful, and at least give a person a chance to address you’re concerns before you write such personally hurtful comments.

I love Jessica! I’ve gone to her a few times now and she does an outstanding job with color! If it’s not her specialty, it should be! If you’re looking for a great color job, see Jessica.

I recently moved to St. Louis from out of state and the thought of finding a new hair stylist was daunting. Salon Element is very clean has a great atmosphere! I went to Jessica and she was amazing! She did an excellent job with my hair and I will be going back to her every time I need my hair done!

I moved to St. Louis a few years ago, and my biggest struggle has been finding a new hairstylist, that I love. I’ve started going to Jessica and can say that my search is over. She listened to what I wanted and was very attentive to the details. I’m always so excited and pleased with her work. She is very relaxed and easy to talk with, which makes the experience even better.

This Salon is so cute and affordable. I felt at ease as soon as I walked in. Go see Jessica. She’s amazing.

The atmosphere at Salon Element is great! You feel relaxed as soon as you walk in the door. Everyone is welcoming and very friendly. The thing I love most about Salon Element is my stylist Jessica H. She is very knowledgable and talented. She always takes the time to make sure we are both on the same page with what we will be doing to my hair. Her color is amazing and she really knows how to cut a woman’s hair. She also happens to be one of the nicest stylists I’ve ever been to. If you’re thinking about doing anything from a trim to a radical change you should most certainly give her a call!

I followed my stylist, Jess, to Salon Element. I love her work. She always gets my hair right. While she is doing my hair I am constantly asking questions about what she is doing and why and if I should be using these products at home. She always has an answer for me and steers me in the right direction. Check her out!

I’ve just left Salon Element and, as always, I feel like a million bucks! Dane does an incredible job with color and his cuts are completely «doable» at home. And trust me, I’m not one to spend a lot of time with by blow dryer and flat iron!
I highly recommend Salon Element. Once you discover this little gem, you’ll be hooked too.

I have been going to Salon Elements since March 2013. I got a Keratin treatment, all over highlights. Both services came out Wonderful! Dane did a wonderful job!
As we talked he recommend me getting shellac on my nails, and I scheduled my service with Shaun he so professional and did a great job on my nails!!! To say the least I’m a happy customer! I Finally have healthy hair and nails. I love that I can a schedule my appointment and they are so prompt and the Salon environment is so comfortable, and very relaxing!!! I’d recommend them to all my friends and family! I get so many Compliments on my hair and nails!!! People say I live your color and curls!!! I reply thank God I have a wonderful Stylist!!!

Why haven’t I written a review about Salon Element yet? I just don’t know. It’s certainly not because I’m not walking outta there every time looking awesome!
I’ve been seeing Dane for a while now and I really appreciate the treatment I get there. There are not a lot of hair stylists that you can trust and I trust Dane enough to go in and say «just fix it» and sit back and let him do his magic. We also talk in depth about what’s been going on with my hair — if I’ve had any problems, anything I might want to try, what’s good, what’s bad, etc.
He’s also a wonderful colorist — he knows his stuff. He consistently gets my color perfect and I’m pretty picky.
I always get compliments on my hair — cut and color and Dane is the reason.

I have been wanting to write this review for months now, but thought my experience here was an anomaly, so I refrained. After seeing Gayle M.‘s review, and Dane’s belittling response to his customer, I had to let others know to be cautious about him. Dane colored my hair months ago and did what he wanted to do, not at all what we had discussed prior to starting. I was in tears for the first time ever after a color, and the response I was given by Dane was, «Well, honey, you need to communicate with me.» We had had a full on discussion prior about super subtle changes and I walked out feeling trashy, with my opposite-​of-​sublte highlights that started a good 2 inches from my scalp. I also had to go to a real salon to get it corrected. A sign of a salon that doesn’t pay attention to it’s clients? I got a call from Dane about 6 weeks after the incident «reminding» me it was time to come in for a refresher!!! When I asked him if he remembered me leaving his salon in tears, he simply hung up on me. Worst… salon…ever.

I absolutely love Dane at saline elements his expertise gets me compliments on my hair every time u leave here!!!

Salon Element is my favorite salon and Sean is my favorite stylist. just an update. I went in for a manicure on Friday, Oct 26^th and Sean worked his magic as usual. I came out with beautiful shellac nails, plus he washed and styled my hair (which he had cut and hi-​lighted 3 weeks before). Today is Nov 14^th and my nails still look great! In all modesty (lol), I looked gorgeous. I wish I could visit Sean every day so he could beautify me before going out in public!!!

I have know Dane for 20 years. I met him in Atlanta where he became my make up artist/​hairdresser for my Photography business. He was amazing then and now! I travel from Kansas City to have him cut and color and Keratin my hair because he’s the bomb! I get compliment after compliment. He’s great at giving me something new I actually like! I’m picky! And he hand picks the best products! I have super dry curly hair and the Diva System is wonderful. Bennefactor pink hairspray was like getting a keratin treatment! I was like, did that just happen?
I’ve been watching Sean’s work and it’s beautiful. He’s learned a lot from Dane but has a flare all his own. He does beautiful nails too! Last visit there he was so busy, I had a wonderful manicure from a new girl there, Nataly. Also does beautiful nails that last! 5 days later – still look as fresh as when I got them done.
I am so proud of Dane being a teacher for Alphaparf hair color (the best) and the beautiful new Salon!

I’ve been seeing Dane for a couple of years now, and have had excellent results with his cutting and coloring techniques. I love the compliments I get on my hair! This salon has a new location and it’s FANTASTIC! Please visit them if you’re looking for a new salon to go to. One thing I am extremely excited about with this business is their social media presence. I tend to like to support businesses that are really «in» on the web. They’ve got it going on in every way possible.

To give a stylist 5 stars is an epic event in my world… Patrice Clements is the absolute best hair stylist/​colorist I have ever been to. I have been to SO MANY hairdressers in this city that just completely missed the mark on my hair over and over again. I have long hair. I have my hair dyed red– a tricky color: tricky for a stylist to get the right shade, tricky to keep it vibrant, tricky to upkeep. She has been spot on since I first walked in the door. She uses the best hair colors and products, one of the only stylists I could find in the city that uses Schwarzkopf hair colr for redheads. Like a reviewer said before me– she is committed to ongoing education, so she is always hip to the newest techniques and styles. If I bring her a photo of a hair cut, she never fails to interpret even the slightest subtlety of the style… she really is a master of her craft.
Salon Element’s new space is very inviting. It stands on it’s own with it’s own parking lot. The interior is fresh and bright with natural light with a beautiful collection of antique Victorian vanity dressers that serve as each stylist’s station. There is a nail tech station in a semi private and comfortable looking room set off to the side of the main salon and a private room where they now offer facial services… I haven’t seen their menu of services yet but I’m looking forward to it.
