I went here to go from dark brown to blonde – I told the lady on the phone what I wanted and asked for extra time because I knew it was a big job. I also asked for an experienced stylist. When I got there, they said I’d be with a stylist named _​_​_​_​and that she was «pretty good.» I got nervous right away.
They ended up having two stylists work on my hair – I assume because one didn’t have quite enough experience to do what I wanted, which is fine. Glad to have the extra hand. After being there for 3.5 hours, I left very unsatisfied. I had told them I would be happy with an inbetween color (light brown with some highlights, perhaps, vs. full-​on blonde right away), as I knew going from brown to blonde took some time. They gave me tons of brassy blonde highlights, in between my dark color. It didn’t look natural at all. She said to come back later to get it fixed. So I came in the next day and the experienced girl did my hair. This time, she put tons of all over blond in my hair and gave me a «low maintenance look» in which she didn’t start the highlights at my roots – instead they started ¾ inches from the roots – it looked like I had 5 months worth of outgrow. The highlights were not even (pictures are posted), they were brassy and they didn’t even go to the ends of my hair; there were «splotches» that she completely missed.
At 607 I was told they guaranteed their color. When I emailed Melanie about my concerns, she said «you wanted low maintenance.» Yes, I did… but I didn’t want to look trashy and that is how my hair looked. I had showed her pictures of light brown hair with highlights and said I’d be happy with that – she didn’t listen.
I was very paranoid about the color so two days after the second time being at 607 I went to another salon. The guy was amazing! He charged $ 125 to fix what they’d done and did a treatment because my hair was so damaged by Salon 607. FYI Salon 607 charged over $ 225 for the whole she-​bang.
I again emailed Melanie – this time showing her the pictures and compared the difference in her splotchy coloring vs. the new even, not-​brassy color that was achieved. I asked for a refund and she agreed to take some off. I said I still wasn’t happy and wanted my money back. She said no. So when I tried to arrange a time to come in and get my refund she stopped responding. All in all, I would not recommend this place. I still have yet to hear back from her about getting my money back.

Don’t do it!!! Worst job ever and expensive with it for not a good job. At first I thought cool not the best job but a quick fix however a quick fix on 2 nails should not cost $ 47. Just the worst. Save your money.

Great and friendly service. Convenient downtown location. Weekend hours till 6pm on saturdays. Great for a walk in or appt.

I was excited to try this place out considering the reviews. It was the worst hair dye ever, I wanted to cry. My hair was left with patches and not the color that I wanted I was specific with what I wanted and the stylist did not listen. I would do my research before trying this place out. I don’t speak for every hair stylist there but the one I got for sure wasn’t professional. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. My hair dye was so bad I had to go to Walmart and buy a $ 10 hair dye box and cover up the $ 200 job I got done. Not okay at all.

New (er) to STL, I’ve been looking for a great place to get my hair trimmed.
Very clean and cute salon. Melanie thankfully squeezed me in for an appointment today. And she was beyond friendly and sweet!
Loved the products she used on my hair.
Walked out REALLY happy with my cut and style. Will definitely be back!

I got really excited to have my hair done here based off all of the wonderful reviews but I am really disappointed in my hair. I told my stylist I only wanted a bayalage, but he cut 5+ inches off of my hair. I also mentioned I did not want it styled or blow dryed, but he blew it dry and on top of that curled it. I didn’t want these services because money is really tight (college) and it set me back 216 $. I don’t like how my haircut looks, as its bushy and looks worse than when I came in, but the color is great. Would come back for color, but he didn’t do a good job on my long thick hair. Ended up washing it out as soon as I got home, 40 $ down the drain. Want my hair back :/

I’ve been coming here for a few months now. The atmosphere & staff are great. Melanie is extremely personable and always does a great job cutting my hair. My experience has been outstanding … so I decided to go with a membership. Really happy with that decision!

Have been going to the salon since it opened. The salon offers a great variety of services, which can only come from a well rounded staff. Melanie completely rocks, both at hair and salon management. I recently made an appointment only to find the person who was going to cut had to leave due to emergency and Ben filled in and wow — he was awesome. Very detailed and meticulous. I have had more compliments off hair cuts I get at the salon than anywhere else I have lived — and I have lived in New York, CA, and DC. This is a team of pro’s!

I hate to write bad reviews, but I have to say that the nail side of the business is not up to par. I decided to give a much more local nail salon a try instead of dragging myself out to Clayton to my usual place because I didn’t want to deal with traffic. I went on Unilocal,and saw that Six Zero Seven had good reviews, so I moseyed over there to give them a try.
I got a shellac french manicure and a pedicure. My fingers were never soaked in water or cleaned underneath, cuticles went virtually untouched, the massage was extremely short, and the manicure itself was terrible. It was thick, and had streaks as a result, and didn’t cover my entire nail. The french tip was done by hand with no clean up to keep the round smooth moon shape on the upper part of the white polish for the french. The polish probably covered only 80% of each nail so the sides and top of my nail were exposed, making each nail have a «nail polish island».
Shellac polish should last at least 2 weeks. The gel was so thick that the same day a corner of the nail got a slight lift and the polish peeled right off. The same thing happened and by day 4, all of my nails were bare from my $ 35+ french manicure. I’m wondering if the base coat wasn’t used, or the one that was needed more than 10 seconds under UV light.
My pedicure experience was similar in terms of quality of the paint job and detail paid to cleaning my nails and cuticles. Again, $ 35+ french pedicure that from a distance can pass, but within a few feet you can see the heavy polish and it’s uneven consistency and sloppy french tip.
I am skeptical that the pedicure tubs are cleaned appropriately, and the sterile glass with barbicide that keeps the metal utensils had a crust down to the water line where it had evaporated and had no lid. There were a few other signs I noticed that raised additional concern about proper health practices.
The girl who did my nails was very young and sweet, she just needs more experience and training. It sounds like the hair side seems to be doing well, but I wouldn’t return for nail services. I could have spent less money and gone to my usual place that is less expensive and does an impeccable job in a very meticulously kept shop. I hope that with time she fine tunes her craft as she seems to really like what she does!

I came for my nails because I wanted to stay downtown. The shellac on my fingers was good — I love the color selection and appreciated her patience when I changed colors halfway through, but the stylist didn’t buff my nails as much as I’m used to because she said it helps the shellac, but this caused some flaws in the polish that I watched her try to paint over. Sometimes it succeeded; other times, not so much.
My pedicure was easy — they provide a lot in the basic service: massage, sugar scrub, essential oils, hot towel wrap, etc. My feet are a little dry still but my toes look great.
The drawback was how long everything took. I got there at 1:30 and didn’t leave until 4. Part of this was because I changed my mind about my nail color, and because the mani/​pedi were done separately by the same person. Most salons have two people working on you at once for efficiency, but this is a hair salon first with the nail salon as an afterthought. I should have bowed out after the mani so I could have kept my afternoon.

The whole staff is awesome, led by Melanie. They can do any style or cut your looking for. The salon is very clean and they even have beer and wine for you to enjoy while you wait.

Melanie did a great color on my hair! I’ve been complimented many times! I haven’t been too loyal to just one salon or hairdresser, but that will change! I will be going back!

I went for a simple hair cut and got a full experience. I sat down In the chair and Melanie took care of me. She didn’t ask the typical «what are we gonna do today?» question. She asked me how I like my hair styled and then said «I think we should do this and this is why». She was not in a hurry to just cut my hair and get me out the door she spent time to get it right. Then when she done, she put a hot towel on my face and washed my hair to get all the lose hairs off me. Finally she took me back to the chair and styled my hair before I left. All of this cost me $ 20. I have paid a little less for hair cuts and received far much less attention. I will be back, the extra cost is worth it.

I travel a lot, so I’m always looking for a nice place to get my hair cut on the road. I stopped by today and had a lovely experience. I was a walk in, but she took me right back to do my eyebrows and shampoo. I already had short hair and had decided on an even shorter pixie look. She sent me to Dee who really was a delight, he took the time to look at my hair and assess the style I wanted with an artist’s eye. He made me very comfortable and I was more than pleased with the results. I will definitely be stopping by my next time in town

Went there for the first time today to chop off my long ‘wedding updo hair’ to a cute shorter cut. Discovered this place through positive reviews on Unilocal!A girl named Melanie greeted me with a warm smile and washed, cut and styled my hair. She cut about 4 inches off and asked me throughout the cut how I liked it. After leaving and walking around my apartment for a bit I felt as if I wished it were even shorter. I ran back over, apologized and asked if I could get it even shorter. Melanie was more than happy to cut a couple more inches off. She was very sweet and accommodating! Will definitely be back!

I have been to this salon multiples times for both cuts and color. Every time I have been extremely pleased with the ambiance, the stylists, and of course the results. A huge added bonus is their prices — they are the most reasonably priced salon in the greater downtown area but do not skimp on product lines or attention to detail. The salon is under new management and I absolutely adore the manager, Melanie. She is a perfectionist when it comes to color and treats her clients like family. I’ve never been more happen with a salon and have suggested Great Cuts to many of my friends. I will be coming here for as long as we live in STL.

I’ve tried multiple salons around the Saint Louis area, and I keep on coming back to this one. Service is friendly and the stylist are knowledgeable of all hair types. They are talkative and willing to teach you how to make your hair look better.
One thing to note: rarely will a stylist ask to scissor cut my hair (because it takes more skill and time), but they ALWAYS ask me at Great Cuts. Definite +1.
The $ 15 is cheap especially for the quality of cut you are getting.
Parking is the worst part about this location. I’d walk into the store to see how long the wait is before putting money in a meter.
