St Pius V Catholic Church

The review is strictly on the fish fry. How to describe it without be blasphemous… Freaking AMAZING! Everyone is friendly, live music is going strong, and there is a line out the door. The food is outstanding. Cod fried just right, creamy potato salad, sweet and tangy coleslaw, green beans fixed like mama made them… and a brownie to bring it all round.
Nutshell: everything a fish fry should be, A MUST STOP!

Good liturgy. Nice people. Good Choir. Diverse congregation. One of the best Fish Fries in town. The Lenten Fish Fry gets a consistent 4 stars from me every year.

For all you fellow «not catholic but went to a catholic school and feel like you know more about it than you ever should — ers» believe me when I say, I know a good fish fry when i smell one.
If you are in St. Louis around that wonderful time of year when all of your friends decline going out to eat because they gave up meat on Fridays, or fried food, or generally being awesome (you know who you are) there is one thing to look forward to…
Battered pieces of fish (species unknown) and all the delicious mayonnaise based sides you could ever dream of, all for the low low price of $ 7. St. Pius is a great stop on a Friday during lent, and although you will wait in line for every bit of a half hour, it’s worth it to stay in the line where you get the fine china instead of the to-​go line, where you get served on Styrofoam plates.
Beer in a can (huge plus) is $ 1.50 and you will get more food for the $ 7 than you could eat if you were Adam Richman, because it does include the bake sale style table of homemade goodies, and even the store bought cookies from the mother who was either lazy or forgot to bake the goods.
So to sum it up, cheap food, cheap beer, and it is all in a Church basement where the people watching is as good as ever. Grab a group of friends and wrestle a table high school cafeteria style… enjoy this one.
