Found this place thanks to fellow Unilocalers and it was a home run! Free wifi, comfortable back lounge area for business guys like me to work and have a great cigar.
Met some interesting vets with good conversation. Got reconnected with my St. Louis roots.
The location on The Hill was easy to find and close to GREAT Italian food!

There’s is really no other place that compares to The Hill Cigar Company! It’s a must visit any cigar aficionado living or traveling in St. Louis. The owner and his staff are exceptional — patient, helpful and well-​informed on cigar and tobacco, as well as the neighborhood and local restaurants. The walk-​in humidor is exceptional and the lounge in back a welcoming oasis. Or you can enjoy the cool fall evenings on the patio out front. I took my son-​in-​law to the shop to select a few cigars and a humidor for his golf bag for birthday and the owner and staff could not have made it a more enjoyable or interesting morning. We will definitely be back.

One of the best kept secrets of the persecuted cigar aficionado. This little gem is nested in the middle of The Hill in St. Louis. The place has great comfortable seating, great selection and friendly atmosphere. Make sure to enjoy this place when you can, be it an afternoon or just a weekend.

Outstanding! In every way. The selection is diverse and plentiful with more boutique cigars than I think I’ve seen anywhere else VERY dog friendly with our pooches welcomed on the patio and inside. Price was right on point and in the sweet spot of retail in my opinion. The owner and customers were all super friendly and the owner especially was knowledgeable about both his cigars & his neighborhood. He helped with directions and recommendation for Mama’s on the Hill which was delicious. Definitely a gem and I would recommend making the time to stop in and enjoy yourself!

Best man cave in the STL. Weekends are a great time to hang out smoke a cigar and listen to stories.

Outstanding shop with a great atmosphere. My wife and I stopped in for a quick smoke while watching the NCAA tournament and we truly enjoyed it. The owner was very nice and the lady working the register was extremely helpful. They offered us beverages in the fridge from a rolling event the previous day. There was food to snack on and they gave me two great cigars that I researched and learned they were new releases… from Nicaragua… my favorite smokes. I will definitely visit again if I’m back in town.

Great place for reasonably priced cigars.

I am a pipe smoker, and there are very few shops for that hobby. The Hill Cigar company, though, has a nice selection of Peterson pipes, some basket pipes, and a few other artisanal pipes. They have bulk tobaccos ranging from aromatics to English blends and everything between. They also carry staples in their tin section, heavily representing Frog Morton, W.O. Larsen, among others.
If you’re thinking that isn’t a large selection, you’re right. The store is geared toward cigars and cigar smokers, but going to The Hill Cigar Co. is about more than the selection. The customer service is incredible, Jay and Jessica both chatted with me about smoking, encouraged me to pack a bowl of a tobacco to try out, and actively gave recommendations. Even more, the clientele that visit Hill Cigar are friendly, personable, and love talking about any variety of topics either in the front smoking area or in the back lounge.
If you’re looking for a decent selection with an excellent place to smoke, no other company can compare. It’s a genuine joy to spend time smoking at Hill Cigar. I would highly recommend checking them out and attending any of their events to have a great time.

This is phenomenal establishment. The selection is enormous, prices are reasonable even modest on some (padron/​fuente) and the hospitality is just top shelf. Speaking of which it’s byob and Jay provides the glasses and ice. Wow!

My wife bought me 2 cigars from here for xmas and she raved about the customer service. I am pretty new to smoking cigars but man do I enjoy it so I decided to check the place out for myself. I was honest with the older gentlemen and told him I am pretty much a novice and looking for suggestions/​advice. He made me feel right at home and made some excellent suggestions, I’ve been back at least a dozen times and all of the staff including Tim the owner were extremely welcoming and helpful!

Pipe smoker here. Not a huge selection but quality tobaccos. And excellent service.

I love this store because it is clean, comfortable, and woman-​friendly, unlike so many other cigar stores. Selection is outstanding, and there is a very comfortable smoking lounge (no membership required). Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Best cigar shop in St. Louis, hands down. Amazing selection, great people, you truly are a friend when you walk in, not a customer. A great place for events too, and their special events are always well planned and entertaining. Tim, the owner, is a great guy, and has put together a team of such variety that every answer has a dissenting opinion, and you will always walk out with a great cigar because of it. I’ve been going there since before the added lounge space was started, and will continue to buy my cigars here whenever possible. Definitely one of the things I will miss when I move away!

Excellent shop. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Great selection of cigars and pipes. The lounge is a spacious and comfortable hide away to relax with friends. Entire store is immaculate. When the weather cooperates, the outside patio is the perfect place to relax. My «go too» shop.

Hands down the best cigar shop in the area. This small storefront just off the Hill is home to some cigar experts. This includes both the employees and the customers.
As you walk in there are a number of comfortable chairs, most of them filled with men and women enjoying a relaxing cigar. You will be greeted by most people in the store, which may intimidate some. One of the helpful employees will ask you if they can help you find anything and you can go from there.
There is a large cabinet humidor near the counter that houses premium cigars such as Arturo Fuente Opus X and Padron Anniversary Series cigars. Scattered throughout the counter cabinets and various shelves are a number of lighters, humidors, and various cigar accessories. The best part of the shop is through the glass door to the left, the walk-​in humidor.
The walk-​in humidor has several hundred facings of various cigar brands, including all the well known brands such as Monte Cristo, Arturo Fuente, Romeo y Julieta, and Oliva. There are so many others besides these. Most different types come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The shop is guaranteed to have something that fits your taste profile.
If you’re not sure what you like, or if you want to try something new, just ask one of the tobacconists and they will be more than willing to help. Same goes for if you’re shopping for someone else. I have never been recommended a bad cigar and now have new favorites thanks their recommendations.
The only knock on the shop is that the lounge area is a bit small. That may change soon with rumors of an upcoming renovation bringing about an upstairs smoking lounge, complete with televisions and more seating.
Moral of the review, if you’re looking for a cigar in the city of St. Louis, go to the Hill Cigar Co., you won’t regret it.

The place to go for a good smoke, the Hill Cigar Co has a very wide range of cigars in a nicely converted humidor. The staff is always welcoming and they were great helping me pick out my first humidor, showing me and explaining to me how to maintain it. I think most of the cigars I’ve purchased there have been priced at or below other places.
It seems also this place likes to throw a party. If I go in to get a weekend cigar during the week it seems like they always have some event planned for the weekend. I’ve been to one and it was a blast. As soon as I get time I’ll be checking out another.
When you first walk in it can be a bit intimidating since there are usually 2 or 3 people sitting having a smoke which is perfectly ok. I usually ask to go into the humidor just to let the staff know I’m in there. The place smells amazing and it is definitely not overpowering at all. The store and the humidor are both meticulously kept up and you can tell the owners really do this because they love a good cigar.

The Hill is a fully stocked Cigar shop that takes it to the next level. It’s one thing to have a fully stocked Humidor, but it’s another thing to know what you are talking about when you discuss Cigars with your Customers. I have been to shops where I knew more about Cigars than the staff did, but the people a the Hill know their Cigars. The people I met were actually Cigar smokers who had a passion for the product they sold.
The shop is fairly small, but they make the most out of the space that they have. There is a small smoking area in the front of the shop and a large humidor in back. The humidor is well laid out. The boxes were clearly marked, and it was very easy to find what I was looking for.
The Hill is a must visit for Cigar smokers visiting the St. Louis area. Great Cigars, Great people and competitive prices.

This store is one of the best chance encounters I’ve ever had – I just drove by it one day and had to stop in.
I was greeted by very friendly gentlemen who got up to help me, mid-​cigar, and didn’t patronize because I am a girl or because I obviously didn’t know what I was doing in there. :)
My boyfriend and I have been many times since to buy great cigars from their great walk-​in humidor and have a smoke. The guys there are a close-​knit group, but are always very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. They’ll even help you with cutting/​lighting technique, if needed.
Events are held a few times a month and are worth catching – great cigar deals, good conversation, and awesome food.
Bottom line: great selection, friendly staff. Go there often enough and it’ll become a ‘Cheers’-like place – everyone will know your name. With a group of guys like these, that’s not a bad thing.
