I’ve given this place so many chances… it’s right next to my house and they serve booze with breakfast! I’ve been there 8 – 10 times since it opened. I love breakfast, the atmosphere is good(for a group that partied too much the night before) and the drinks are good. That being said, the food has all been bad… each time I go I try something different and each time I’m disappointed with the quality of the food and it’s preparation. Last time I went I got the chicken in a waffle which is what I will order from now on… it was just ok. I’m sure I’ll be back for bloody marys, but I may try and hold off eating until after.

Wasn’t sure about The Shack, looked at their menu and it seemed a lil bit limited for breakfast as far as variety. No waffles, no slingers, no eggs benedict, etc. I’m so glad we went anyway. I had the Crunchy French Toast, and it was awesome! My girlfriend had a sandwich, with bacon, poached egg on brioche roll, really good too. Long line to get in, but with just two of us, we got right in. Bigger parties you’ll probably wait a while on the weekends, but definitely great food if you have the time.

The atmosphere is 5 stars. Love the fun, unique environment. The service was also 5 stars. I thought the food was very standard but I also didn’t get anything out of the ordinary. The Denver omelette and fruit. The omelette was average, I’ve had way better and I probably wouldn’t get it again but because the service and atmosphere is excellent I will try this place again!

This place did not disappoint. We got there around 1:00 and only waited about 10 minutes for a table and the food came very fast. Their Bloody Mary’s are a must!

Have gone now a couple times and it’s been hit or miss. Love the décor and the staff. Food can be wow or eh.

Not incredibly impressed. The food is pretty basic for the price… Scrambled eggs are not freshly scrambled — probably come pre scrambled in gallon jugs or something like that. Hash browns are reconstituted too. Bacon was pretty tasty but only two strips. Oh and did I mention the chairs? Metal with backs & sides that someone with a larger than size 8 butt can be comfortable sitting in. I imagine they are a joy to sit in during the winter… Wait staff is very friendly and attentive and didn’t seem to mind when I requested to be moved to a booth where my size 12 butt could be comfortable.

Husband and I went for breakfast this morning. It was busy, but we only waited a short time to be seated. Our server super sweet and attentive. The food was delicious! I got the Make a Grown Man Weep and Husband got If You Got em Smoke em. We both really enjoyed the food. My only complaint was that the coffee was lackluster. But we will definitely be back because there was so much more on the menu that we want to try!

This was our first time at the Shack and we were under impressed. The food was mediocre at best and they charge $ 3 for an adult soda. We ordered French toast off the kids menu for my son, added a side of bacon and tea to drink. They charged $ 3 for the bacon and $ 3 for a child’s tea! Just ridiculous to me!

One of the top brunch restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. Amazing drinks, great food and energetic employees. I will definitely be coming back next time in in STL.

Found this restaurant on a trip to St. Louis. Loved it so much that we came back again for breakfast before we left town. On this visit I had the Do It Yourself Meg Ryan with a blueberry pancake –delicious. Hash brown are buttery and crispy– just the way you want them to be. Love the coffee mugs too.

This is one of my favorite brunch spots in St Louis! The people, food, and ambience are all great! I love country fried steak and this was definitely on the menu. Also had the Meaty Mary(Bloody with bacon and meat straw). The steak was fried perfectly alone with the gravy. I ate every last bite and did not regret it. The Meaty Mary was one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve had. I’m sure I will be come back here a few more times!

All I can say is that this place probably makes the best hash browns I’ve ever had! No lie. Perfectly crispy on top and soft on the bottom. My husband and I just want to come back for that delicious fried goodness. In terms of the other food that we ordered, everything was fine and portions were big. My only wish is that my food was seasoned a little bit more. I ordered the breakfast burritos and needed to add extra salt(which I never do) and pour some hot sauce after each bit for a little kick. Wonderful service, reasonable prices. So far this is my favorite breakfast place in the STL.

We are new in town so we are trying out all the hot spots in the area. We went to the Shack after the breakfast rush one Saturday. The food was GREAT!!! I would recommend their pancakes for sure. There coffee is really good also, they let you get some in the waiting area and pay for it with your bill(kind of cool concept). My husband and cousin went a couple weeks later and got Bloody Mary’s. They are a little higher priced for breakfast food, but their food is really good and service was good as well.

The food is great! We go for brunch a few times a month. If you dont get their early, you will likely have to wait 20 – 40 min for a table. Its worth it. The service is great, and the atmosphere is very lively. I usually get the gringo killer which is tasty. The breakfast shakes(capt crunch) are great!

Awesome food, great service, good atmosphere but very noisy. We brought some friends here for breakfast one Sunday morning to all try out for the first time. We had a 40min wait, which wasn’t too bad, and we enjoyed chatting it up in the waiting area inside where it was warm. We were sat in the middle of the dining room surrounded by Windows that brought in great natural light. It’s a rustic/shabby shic atmosphere with vintage flare. We ordered regular bacon, eggs, pancakes breakfasts, but we decided to share an breakfast shake. We got the foot loop shake, which I liked, but my hubs didn’t. Our friends seemed to enjoy their food as well. The waitress was great, didn’t seem to hurry us and push us out like some breakfast places do. We will return and can’t wait to bring my parents in for breakfast soon!

Really great breakfast spot. We went at 1p on a Saturday and were seated after only a few minutes. They only serve breakfast on the weekends, which isn’t a problem for me as I love a good breakfast. My kids ordered a honey nuts cheerio shake, which I secretly wanted and totally tried — it was wonderfully amazing. It kept leaping over to me for more tastes. The kids also got the pancakes and eggs with a side of hash browns, they happily split the whole order. I swear these pancakes are some of the best I have had. My mom got the biscuits and gravy which came with a ham slice, she ate it all so I assume it was good. I got an omelette with English muffin and hash browns. It was great. I love when places have more than just grape and strawberry jelly. I got to enjoy apple butter on my bread. The service was great, the waitress could tell my kiddos were on the brink of no nap melt down and gave us our space when needed. Highly recommended!

So many delicious options! Fast service, a pleasing atmosphere & eclectic décor. Chose the Whitetrash Screwdriver to start off brunch — couldn’t taste the other ingredients outside of the vodka & orange juice but it did the job. My boyfriend got the boozy captain crunch shake — WAY too much going on with the crunch berries & rumchata! Very strange taste & we both like all the ingredients — just not combined! We both ordered skillets that came out fast, hot & delicious! Will be returning very soon! The décor is a repurposed industrial cool with customer graffiti on the walls. Ask the waitress for a marker to tag the wall & add to the fun atmosphere!

This is my second time here and it’s been a great experience both times. Both Ashley and Tyler(the bartenders) remembered me from my past visit. It’s those little personal touches. Then the food! Their biscuits and gravy rival my grandmothers! And the cereal killer adult smoothies are phenomenal! Today I had the«make a grown man cry» breakfast burrito! I highly recommend it! I will always try and make this a stop every time I’m in Stl!

This place has all the character I love when I’m in the need for a cool, chillaxing, breakfast. No hustle & bustle on this Monday morning. We were the first to arrive & dine at 7:10am so it was perfectly peaceful. Greeted with smiles & coffee cups by 2 adorable young ladies. Led to our seats & served with pleasure. Annie was a sweetheart and did great serving. The manager was also attentive and came over to ale sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Now for the food: Biscuits & Gravy — hearty, plentiful, a tad salty but good according to my dining partner. Veggie White Omelet — fluffy, large, tasty but not very flavorful(I probably needed cheese or light seasoning) Pancake — okay, not fluffy but soft & kinda thin, the compote on top was decent Coffee — it’s Kaldi’s what more can I say Water — ice cold I enjoyed the ambiance & friendly service more than anything. Grab a marker on your way out to mark your territory.

I always go to the corner pub and always wanted to try this place. Last week I finally did. First of all, the ambience of the place. There is patron graffiti all over everything, but somehow it still feels like a nice restaurant. Second, the food. Two of my coworkers had the burgers and they both enjoyed them. I had a spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato tots. The tots were amazing and they came with the spicy honey mustard sauce that was excellent for dipping. Service wasn’t the best in the world, but it was packed at lunchtime and the waiter had a lot of tables. As a former server I can’t really fault him for being busy. He did the best he could and didn’t fuss about splitting our check three ways. Overall, I’m definitely a fan of the shack and I want to come back to try their breakfast items and/or brunch. If you order a lunch item, don’t forget to order the sweet potato tots. :)

We went there recently for breakfast. We were 1 of two groups. We were quickly seated given menus and water and some time to review the menus. The waitress was friendly and polite though it was early in the morning(for her AND for us!). Coffee, and lots of it, was my friend. The food didn’t take too long when it came out. The waitress had an assist with the food who seemed more interested in getting the food on the table than to the right person. After a bit of shuffling we all had what we ordered. Now, I can only speak for myself but the side replacement of fruit the hash browns was less than tasty. About 1⁄3 of a Granny Smith chopped up and 1⁄3 cup of black berries. Not much for having an upcharge. The omelet was good and filling. The English muffin was probably just something out of a package. The waitress was attentive without being hovering — something I have run in to in the past when I was at a table where we were 1 of 2 or 3 tables for the entire place. My family enjoyed everything we had and will most probably return in the future. There are so few good breakfast places in Valley Park area. This is a nice find. Not 100% what I would change to make it 4 or 5 stars… will have to think about it during my next meal.
