Every time I visit Uncle Bill’s I always question myself during my meal. It’s not that the food is bad, it’s just that this location leaves a lot to be desired. My most two recent trips were late evening and early morning, when I arrived one evening about 11pm for a late, late dinner we quickly observed that Uncle Bill didn’t have his A-Squad working. While we waited for our food we witnessed an employee clipping his finger nails at the table two down from us, totally unacceptable. Both times service was short and blunt to say the least, on occasion you do get a good waitress. The food here is good enough, I usually end up with the 2×2×2×2, which consists of two eggs, two pancakes, two strips of bacon and two sausage links, a fair value for less than $ 8. The pancakes are quite good, and to be totally honest with you so is the rest of the food. It’s nothing fancy, just simple diner food. My main problem here is with the service or lack of. Surprisingly enough there is free Wi-Fi available, just check for the code when entering or ask your waitress. The décor is the same as it was when they first opened back in the 70’s so there is obvious signs of wear and tear. Overall Uncle Bill’s is a decent option, however I just don’t get the hype. The one main thing going for Uncle Bill’s is the price and its hours, so you can stumble in after last call and manage to get a meal at 3:45am if you were so inclined. My recommendation would be to skip, as you can often get a better meal just down the street at Courtesy Diner. Not quite deserving of a 3 star, however not 2 star level, I would say Uncle Bill’s is a solid 2.5 Star review)

Very good 24 hour diner style restaurant. Clean, affordable, polite. I had the«slingshot». STL favorite. Recommended and I will eat here again.

I can’t! I can’t even write this without gagging. Run fast away from this nasty hole in the wall place. I wouldn’t even take my dog here to eat. Don’t go here even if your drunk. Everyone around you is drunk and throwing up everywhere. I was not and got to see the real place.

My boyfriend and I have a great time after the last day of six flags and we’re surprised here. Steak is okay, but best pancakes ever! We also love its environment and price and 24hours as well. We’re so full here

Uncle Bill’s — a staple for me when I’m St. Louis, mostly because I like their food and know where they’re located, a little because I’m from out of town and not familiar with many other breakfast joints. I’m a ‘basic breakfast’ guy — eggs, bacon, hash browns, French Toast, & coffee, and they do it all justice. Their bacon is amazing. But my daughter had their hot chocolate which came piled high with whipped cream, and she said it was«amazing!» My buddy brought me here years ago, and now I bring my family whenever we’re in town. There’s a reason for that!

Hands down best pancakes I have ever had in my life. Basic breakfast staples are done very well– crunchy hash browns, salty bacon, and perfect eggs. All for a reasonable price!!! One of my favorite things to order is the fried chicken breakfast meal. The fried chicken is SOGOOD. Also, it is open 24⁄7 so that I can get pancakes at any time of the night. Keep in mind though, that this is a basic diner. So if you’re looking for fancy brunch food, this isn’t the place.

They have horrible customer service… when making a To go order your left on hold for upward of 20 minute while they go get a waitress… today I called to place an order and was placed on hold, I had to hang up and call back because of the wait time was longer than usual. Upon calling back I could hear the hostess and waitress making snide remarks about me hanging up and calling back… at this point I had already wasted my time on hold and driven to the restaurant. when I got there and asked for the manager she was not available… this is the last time I waste my money on piss poor service.

Meh food, ridiculous prices. They get an extra star for having the BEST bacon I’ve ever had, though!

Three of us ventured here on Saturday September 19, 2015 before the Angel Arm’s Bar Bounce. I ordered three pancakes, no butter, added powdered sugar and sugar free syrup– delicious! I needed a kick of protein so I went w/two poached eggs– I enjoyed my meal. The service was friendly but it took some time for the food to be delivered and one in our party never received his hashbrowns… he wasn’t upset and they took it off the bill at checkout. The gal running around refilling water was on it! The people watching is quite good, the line moved quickly, I would eat here again and most definitely order the pancakes.

My favorite diner in St. Louis. :) The lines are pretty crazy for Sunday brunch, but oh so worth it. I make it a priority to visit this place every time I’m in STL, especially after a night of dancing.

Very pleased. You should check this place out! Party of 8 seated immediately on a Saturday. We had a lil bit of everything for breakfast! Pancakes on point. Waffles really good. Hash browns perfect. Skillet looked as good as it tasted. Eggs done right. And the bacon… what else is there? The bacon was everything! If ur in the Lou, make ur way to Uncle Bill’s! We did.

Oh my goodness. Talk about a gem in the rough! Our ongoing tour to sample some of the top rated restaurants in the Lou brought us to the door of Uncle Bill’s during the Fourth of July weekend. To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting to be wow’d. I have pretty high standards when it comes to breakfast; there are two restaurants total which have knocked off my proverbial socks, and I wasn’t confident that this was going to be one of them. There was a small wait for a table on Sunday morning, giving us a little time to glance around the rather odd décor, which made me feel a bit like I was transported back to the 1970s. Once seated at our table we were presented with menus with a LOT of options, all reasonably priced. It didn’t take me long, however, to reach my decision. I was there for pancakes of course! I choose a western egg white omelet, with a side of pecan pancakes. My partner chose an dish called 2×2×2×2, which came with eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage. The service was decent in taking our order in a timely manner and delivering it fairly quickly. My breakfast companion was pleased with his standard American breakfast fare. The bacon was to his liking and the eggs nice and fluffy. He was a tad disappointed in the pancakes, which were a little too done for his taste. As far as my dish goes — it was the best omelet and the best pecan pancakes I’ve ever had. A nice light omelet with ham, onion and peppers, with melted cheese(perhaps Velveeta?) creating a cohesive little bite of heaven with every forkful. The pancakes, topped with butter and sugar free syrup, were light, fluffy and stuffed with just the right amount of crunchy pecans. Pair it all with a decent cup of coffee and I definitely had the most deliciously satisfying breakfast I’ve had in awhile. 100% recommend stopping by Uncle Bill’s, any time of the day or night!

A staple in STL! I hadn’t been here in years and so happy to see they are the same. I only have breakfast here, have never ventured into the other parts of the menu. My usual, cheese eggs, crispy bacon, hashbrowns and pancakes! Oh Yes! Get there and get that!

It’s overpriced for the quality of food. The interior is a little strange, they definitely have some weird decorations — one of the walls looks like it’s the side of a house. The food was not very good. I had the ham and cheese omelet and it was slightly underdone for my liking and the cheese was extremely processed. It tasted like a combination of velveeta and low quality American cheese — not good. It’d be a great place to go drunk or hungover, but I would not recommend it for quality breakfast.

I don’t even know. It was late and after a much needed Mardi Gras nap, I wanted breakfast for dinner. The greatest of meal agendas. It wasn’t busy so I figured a quick in and out bite would be the bargain to get my boyfriend to eat here(who was already freaked out by the hostess and tired looking interior). I scoped this place out beforehand and most people seemed to really be into it. For being a rough 3/8ths full as it was, service was s-l-o-w. I would hate to see this place busy if it’s anything like my visit. Food was verging on a half hour wait by the time it arrived on our table. The drinking glasses are for children. I would be surprised if they actually held eight ounces of water. Don’t expect refills on a frequent basis, sip slow friend. Food was decent, not the best or worst I’ve had. Eggs, corned beef hash, sausage, hash browns, ANDPANCAKES! On the other hand, the pancakes were perfect. Little fluff monsters slathered in butter and suffocated in syrup. I was so much of a little gremlin, I stole some of my boyfriend’s pecan pancakes.

I have been coming here since I was born, I loooove this place. They are open 24 hours, and there always seems to be a parking spot open no matter the time of day. They have a pretty large diner menu that is also your placemat. The staff is very nice and they are pretty fast. Food I’ve tried that I love: The chili dog with fries Diced ham n eggs(my mom has gotten this everytime for 30+ years, trust us, it’s the ) Cube steak with baked potato Apple sauce Ice cream sundae Cheeseburger with fries Pancakes Baked Alaska Cheesecake This place is great, I was going to write up a pros n cons but I can’t really think of many cons. We love uncle bills.

Every city needs an old school, 24 hour diner for those about to be hungover and those hoping to recover alike. St. Louis, Uncle Bill’s is your place if your the type who likes to wander from a 3am dive bar to a 24 hour dive diner. I’ve been here a few times and love breakfast. The waitresses are pros, making sure your cup is full of cold water and hot coffee. Your food will come quickly and your coffee mug will stay full as long as you linger in your booth. Nothing and nobody is pretentious here. The food is straight forward classic American fare. I opt for corn beef hash with biscuits and gravy on the side. Now, doesn’t your head feel better just reading this? Time for another cocktail!

We have always driven by here and see the long line waiting to get in. We always wanted to try it… and yesterday we did. We waited in a long line with a light drisle of rain. The line moved fairly quickly, only about a 20 minute wait. It was worth it. i was hungry but not hungry for the famous pancakes that everyone goes on and on aboout. I had a grilled cheese sandwhich with fries. Scott had the country fried steak, that came with hashbrowns as well as pancakes. I tried the pancackes… because I had nothing to lose. I dont like pancakes, we had them to often when I was a kid. But let me tell you… these are the best pancakes I have ever had. They were so light, yet very tasteful. Cooked to perfection. I honeslty might go back just to have the pancakes. I recommend this as a great breakfast place… keep in mind they cook their whole menu 24⁄7. So day or night you can try them. :)
