I came to store for my pant’s alteration. Then after I came back home with finished pants I found the the length of two sides on the pants are not same. One side was off for 1.5 inch. I’d never recommend this place for alteration.

I was very disappointed by my experience here. This place had great Unilocal reviews so I decided to try it to get some dresses altered. I’m a resident and work about 80 hours a week and so it was hard for me to get to the store but I finally managed to it one week before I needed two dresses shortened. The lady said she could do it on time but it was going to $ 25 per dress (which is pricey) and needed full payment in cash or check. Since its 2014 I don’t carry around my checkbook or that much cash. After begging her, she told me I could give her whatever cash I had and then pay the rest at pickup,
When I came to pick up the dresses, she refused to take a check and said she would only accept cash. I had to leave and go to the bank to get cash.
This is ridiculous, it’s absurd that a place in this day and age doesn’t accept credit cards — especially with profits like square out there. Plus I have NEVER had to pay a tailor at drop off. And it was so ridiculous that I couldn’t pay with check at pick up.

I’ve had bad luck with tailors in STL, even on simple things. A co-​worker of mine recommended West End Tailor and since then I won’t go anywhere else. Anything I’ve had done here has been lasting, quality work. It gets done right the first time and that’s why I continue to go here. Worth the price.

She did an awesome job on a rather complicated bridesmaid dress! So glad to have found a great tailor that isn’t overpriced. Would definitely recommend.

I got a lace bridesmaid dress altered here. Because it was lace, I was a little wary of taking it to just anyone but I just moved to the area and had to get it done.
She showed me two spots where she had to make adjustments, one spot on the top of the shoulders and one in the back under the arms. Each fix was $ 25. Maybe that’s expensive, maybe it’s not. But the dress fit perfectly when I picked it up a week later. She knows what she’s doing and she does it well.
You might have to knock on the door even when it’s open. She keeps it locked, since she runs the business alone. You also need to pay upfront with cash or check.

I brought my suit here a couple weeks before my wedding. I thought it might be closed because there was a locked gate in front of the door but I knocked anyway. She opened the door and welcomed me in, and the rest was a cake walk. I had my pants taken in and the cuffs hemmed. Both turned out great, and the price was very reasonable. The service took about a week and cash had to be paid up front. I will use her again in the future!

This shop is easy to miss if you’re driving down Lindell and not paying much attention. Even when I was paying attention, I totally missed it and had to make a U-​turn!
I thought I’d take a blazer here that needed adjustments before I could wear it after reading Steph’s rave review. The lady who owns this place only takes cash or check which isn’t too unheard of seeing as she’s running a REALLY *small* business. So I just make sure to bring my checkbook when I have stuff that needs tailoring. The wait time is usually about a week or so… so I don’t expect the job to be finished immediately. Keep that in mind if you’re in a hurry. Take your stuff somewhere else or maybe make arrangements to pay more to get it done faster? I dunno. I’m usually not in any hurry anyway so this has never been a problem for me but I could see how it might be for others. Especially with deadlines like weddings and such to worry about…
She did GREAT work on my pink blazer. I was über paranoid about it since it was something I got from an obscure Japanese brand online and it cost a pretty penny but she really fixed it up. I thought the sleeves were the parts that weren’t fitting me correctly but it was actually the torso part! Go figure. It fits great now. And I think she only charged like $ 10 or $ 15 to fix it which wasn’t bad! I like sewing myself but anything with lining terrifies the crap out of me. Hemming pants is do-​able for me but anything beyond that… look out!
I like how she takes time to carefully pin the clothing on you so you know you’re actually getting a correct and accurate fit.
Even if she charges more than some place farther away, I’d rather go to her because she’s on the same street as me… a 2 minute drive away, and great service too.
Now…to see what she can do about hemming my freakin’ reversible jeans… ugh.

Way over charges for the job she does, and poor service.
Even worse than overpaying was that she spilled something on my shirt that left a 1 cm stain right on the front pocket. Usually can be overlooked, but its a solid color shirt and stands out. And then she tried to blame it on me even though I brought the shirt to her still wrapped and in perfect condition b/​c I had just bought it from the store.
Save your $ and time and go some place else.

So… let me tell you about a little story where I almost kissed a woman twice my age.
Let me set up the scene for you. 6:45pm on a Friday night. I’m getting all of my things ready for my best friend’s wedding the following morning. I’m a bridesmaid in her wedding! Yay. Exciting.
Jewelry? Check.
Shoes? Check.
Nails done? Hair done? Check.
Bridesmaids dress? Hmm… well, actually I haven’t tried it on since I bought it from David’s Bridal in July! Might want to try that on. I can zip it up! Woohoo! But hold on just a sec… it’s a little long. No, it’s WAY too long. It’s so long I can’t walk without tripping over it.
HOLY FUCK MY DRESS IS TOO LONG.
6:50pm. I’m freaking out. It’s Friday night… every reasonable tailor has got to be closed right now, and who would do a last-​minute alteration anyway? Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.
Desperate, I consulted Unilocal.Typed in ‘tailor’. Crossed my fingers.
West End Tailor pops up. 4 stars. Not bad. I call the number that’s listed.
It’s ringing. Once. Twice. Someone answers. SOMEONE ANSWERS!
I tell the friendly woman on the other end about my crazy dilemma. About how I’m a huge IDIOT and didn’t try on my dress until the night before the wedding and now it’s too long and ohmyGOD i’m a terrible friend can you help me PLEASE. Yes, it was pretty much all a run-​on sentence like that.
I swear this woman must be related to Jesus, because she told me that although she normally closes at 7pm on Fridays, that I could come by so she could take a look at it. She tells me that she only takes cash. No biggie. I’ll stop at an ATM.
I grabbed the dress, threw on some shoes, grabbed my purse, and zoomed off.
I get there in RECORD time (seriously, I probably should have been pulled over), and hand her the dress. I try it on, she pins it up and tells me how much it will cost. $ 35. Not bad! I run across the street to the nearest ATM.
I dig through my purse for my wallet, and IT’S NOT THERE. Fuck, I grabbed the wrong purse. I’m in tears now.
I call Andy, and he calms me down and assures me that he’ll bring my wallet and ATM card.
I walk back inside the shop. I tell the woman what happened, and she smiles, but says she can’t start until I pay her. COMPLETELY understandable. I tell her my boyfriend is on his way, and we wait.
And wait.
And wait.
30 minutes go by. WTF? We live 10 minutes away. I call Andy. He’s stuck in traffic… the Forest Park Balloon Glow is tonight, dontcha know? F YOU, FOREST PARK!
Cue me, sitting there crying like a baby. I was so worried that Andy wouldn’t arrive in time and the woman would change her mind and go home. Why she didn’t kick crazy old me out of the shop, I’ll never know.
Long story short: Andy arrives at 8pm (a full HOUR after she’s scheduled to close), I pay her extra $$ to get the dress done right away, and she starts working.
Fairytale ending: my dress is ready at 9pm, IT LOOKS GREAT, and no one but me, my boyfriend, and the tailor from HEAVEN knows how bad of a friend I am for waiting until the LAST MINUTE to try on my dress.
The funny thing? I never caught this woman’s name. I almost planted a BIG ONE on her lips when she handed me my finished dress, but I dont know her name.
So now I’m a bad friend… and a whore.

I’ve gone here for years for various alterations. Solid workmanship, and is very helpful in helping you figure out what you want. Cash only, but her prices are reasonable.

Well, here’s take two of my original review, once posted, since removed. A «real review» by a «real person,» not that Unilocal «really» cares…
I’ve used West End Tailor twice now for minor sartorial repairs, and both times have had good results. The prices are reasonable but unlisted (she will tell you $ 10 or $ 14 without consulting any published price list), and the turnaround takes at least one week. However, this shop seems to be a small, independently owned place, so the nebulous pricing and weeklong turnaround are OK with me. The workmanship is solid and she takes the time to explain what will be/​was done. A solid 4 stars for your local tailoring needs.
