History

Established in 1900.

John L. Ziegenhein was in business with his brothers from 1900 to 1931. He then opened John L. Ziegenehein & Sons Funeral Home with his sons at 7027 Gravois (63 116). All the Ziegenhein family members died by 1995 and the ownership transferred to a long time employee, Brian Akerson. When Brian retired in 2006, the ownership transferred to another longtime employee, life long south St. Louis resident, Roger Richie. In 1994 a second location was opened at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63 129).
