The service was a bit slow but we were satisfied with the crab dip and Irish tacos were huge sizes. The tacos with corn beef was a nice twist.

Stopped in on a drive home from nearby Easton to pick up a bite to eat and catch some football after walking around St. Michaels. The atmosphere is typical of an Irish pub, no frills or flares here. The food, average, also for what you would expect from an Irish Pub. Though I probably would not visit again, the waitstaff was friendly and the portions were large, so I would recommend to anyone with a craving for pub food in St. Michaels.

Get in here and sit at the bar. Friendly, attentive staff and a commitment to the guest expirence that seemed rare while I was in from out of town. Food was great and the vibe was just what we were looking for. Came back for a post-wedding cocktail hour and the staff did a great job with the food and getting drinks out to us fast.

My wife and I stopped in the other night for appetizers and drinks to start. I ordered the Irish Nachos with corned beef and my wife ordered the crab dip. The nachos I received were missing a number of the ingredients to include the corned beef(how do you mess that up) so I sent it back. They brought the nachos out again with the corned beef however other ingredients were missing this time. Ie: avocado, tomato, and fire roasted corn. Ugh!!! As far as the crab dip the only thing I can say was that the-presentation was nice. The dip was all cheese with an old bay flavor and and barely any crab(if it was there I didn’t see it). Since the appetizers were Noreen close to what was listed on the menu we decided to call it quits and not order dinner. The last item I was disappointed I was the service. There were times when we were the only ones in the place and the waitress was no where to be found. She was very pleasant but obviously we were not a priority. Something exciting must have been going on in the kitchen. I would suggest to the owners that they seriously consider hiring new cooks because if the ones they have can’t get the appetizers right then they are in bring trouble when it comes to making the main courses. Hopefully the owners see this review and care enough to make their restaurant a success.

My husband and I decided to give this pub a try, despite the mixed reviews. After our experience, we know that we should have listened more closely to the negative comments. When we arrived at the main door, we encountered a hostess’s station – but no hostess. We waited for several minutes before I walked into the restaurant to ask whether they were seating customers at that time. A waitress(or hostess?) approached us and offered us any table we wished. We seated ourselves at a table for two, were offered menus immediately, and were promptly brought the unsweetened tea we ordered. So far, so good… Unfortunately, our visit to Blackthorn Pub began to worsen, and by the end of our visit, we were totally turned off this restaurant. We ordered food as soon as the waitress came to take our order: I asked for the crab cake sandwich, and my husband ordered the glazed chicken entrée. Our wait began. After more than 50 minutes, we finally got our food. My sandwich and steak fries were adequate(I’ve had better and worse), but my husband’s chicken dish had definitely been prepared long before we arrived at the restaurant. The chicken was dry, the potatoes were mushy, and the asparagus was limp. Although we will be in St. Michaels for another nine days, we know that we will not return to Blackthorn Pub, even to enjoy a Shocktop on draft.

The bar looks great, but the service my wife and I got was awful. The first day of March Madness and no games on any of the 7TV’s. No big deal since we were the only customers, we just asked the bartender if she could put basketball on… eye roll. After my wife called her out on the obvious eye roll she said that when people watch sports they get angry when their team is losing and begin yelling and cursing saying thinks like GD. Excuse me, your a bartender! And we are your only customers, literally in the whole place. She puts the three games on, one of which was on a TV on the other side of the bar despite 4TV’s right in front of where we sat. She then proceeded to not take any interest in us and was making the schedule on her laptop, back to us, and complaining about this and that to the one waitress at the end of the bar playing on her phone. When I asked if we could get the sound of the game on, she said she couldn’t. She said the owner likes Irish music playing the whole time. She then told us she changed the settings/station so there is more recent music playing. I heard no Irish music at all. So she is OK with ignoring her owners requests for her preferences but not that of her customers? Her ONLY customers. I told her that I doubt her owner would rather have an empty bar with Irish music then happy paying customers in the bar with the TV sound on. We crushed our beers and took our money elsewhere. They don’t deserve it and we never returned.

Just spent a Valentines day lunch with som friends at Blackthorn. They were busy so we were seated upstairs where there’s zero ambiance, poor service(they have to schlep food up the steps), all for food thats really lacking. An undercooked burger, mixed up cocktails, and a sad cosmopolitan. We may give another try there after try everywhere else.

We went with friends on their boat to St. Michael’s for the day and had lunch at the Blackthorn Pub. Even though it was a super busy Saturday, the service was fast and friendly. Good Pub food, just what you expect. Everything we had was great, corned beef plate, roast beef sandwhich, Reuben(I love a good Reuben!) Crab Salad, Shrimp and hot wings apps. The beers were great. I had a 3 glass tasting, we all had something different, and all were happy happy happy. Will definitely be our go-to place when we visit again.

Had literally the worst service of my life here. I came with my family for lunch a few weeks ago and we all ordered water, one appetizer and our entrees. After we finished the app, we still had not been offered refills for our waters, which had all been empty for some time, while our waitress was casually hanging out by the service station at the bar. Our entrees were brought to us by our waitress who promptly turned and walked away after bringing our food… I did not even have time to ask for water(which STILL hadn’t been refilled) or cocktail sauce which was not offered automatically with my crab cake. When I finally got annoyed and walked to the bar to ask someone for help, I had to say«excuse me» several times before I could get the bartender to look up from her cell phone. How rude! The food was great but when my father went to pay, we got sick of waiting for someone to take our credit card so I had to take it up to the bar. Overall, the food was good but completely overshadowed by the horrifically appalling service. I’ve been a waitress for many years and could tell the management of this staff had clearly been slacking off this day.

Had a beer when the wife was at the spa. Good atmosphere to watch a football game. Came back after dinner at Talbots Saturday for the band. Band was great. Good vibes and time. Would go back again. Doesn’t seem like a lot of options in st. Michaels…

Stopped for a beer, had a couple appetizers. The Reuben egg rolls are fantastic. The Fried Pickles are insanely huge, very oven hot, and a meal in themselves. Nice looking place, good selection of food and beverages.

Went here for brunch on Sunday morning after a wedding. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress took our drink orders(water and Bloody Marys) which came quickly but were below average. After placing our food order the waitress never returned without one of us getting up to grab one of the clueless staffs attention. We were the only 6 people in the place! 45 minutes later we received our food. 4 of us ordered eggs Benedict and 2 ordered French toast. The eggs Benedict was cold and the poached eggs were more like hard boiled. The French toast was bland and served without syrup. We ended up having to get someone’s attention to grab us the check(some of which we refused to pay for) and going to Graul’s for sandwiches.

Solid choice for inside dining in St Michaels. Good variety for pub fare. Nachos with beer cheese surprisingly good and nuts and berries salad rocked! Our server, Sam, was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is attractive with great murals of Ireland adorning the walls.

We didn’t eat here but had drinks two night in a row. The bartenders were friendly, happy, helpful and fun. They both recommended good new drinks got us and the crowd at the bar was a fun group. The place is nice and clean and spacious, not claustrophobic.

Stopped in for lunch on a slow, overcast day. The Shepherd’s Pie was cup sized, entrée priced and soupy. Perhaps the frozen corn, peas, carrots and lima beans! had thawed in the microwave along with the ground unseasoned hamburger. Also, missing was the gravy and melted cheese. A big disappointment. Reubn was stripped down as well. Hardly any sauerkraut, no cheese, no thousand island dressing.

My big fat Italian family decided to visit the Blackthorn Pub for dinner on Friday night of Memorial Day Weekend. They made a reservation for 7:30, and upon arrival, we were the ONLY table there. I thought we were doing something very bad. The service was a hair on the slower side, but not as bad as other reviews had expected me to believe. We were also a table of like 10, so it was a lot to handle. The biggest concern I had was that they didn’t have a single vegetarian dish on the menu that I could get excited about. I ended up getting the beet salad for dinner… which was delicious… but not really what i was in the mood for coming out of a light lunch. I tried to compensate with fried pickles and beer cheese dip which were ordered as appetizers in an effort to not end up hammered by the end of the meal. It worked, but it wasn’t quite what i was hoping for. Lots of people in our party ordered the salmon and said it was phenomenal. When they brought the food out, it all came together with the exception of 1 plate– my aunts salmon. Whey the brought it out, it was pretty rare/raw looking. It seemed like they miscalculated and forgot one. She asked if they could throw it back on the grill and cook it a bit more. They did something to it where it came out reallyfast looking kinda greyish? Maybe they microwaved it? Regardless, she didn’t eat it and they took it off of our bill. That was a bit of a bummer, but in a table of 10, everything can’t be perfect. We get that. On the way out, the place seemed to have livened up a bit. Also noteworthy is that they had live entertainment– a woman with a voice… wowzers she was great… we really enjoyed listening to her in the background.

Had dinner here this weekend while in town for the St. Michael’s Running Festival. Great location, seating was very comfortable in front of a large open window. Service was very friendly, although a teeny bit slow. Ordered salmon with a blue crab and shrimp sauce, AMAZING. One of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had! Would def. dine again.

My boyfriend and I went to blackthorn for breakfast. The restaurant was not crowded, about 4 other tables, 1 waitress and 1 bartender. Upon entering, we were promptly seated and given menus. The menu was limited, but we were both able to find items that we thought we would enjoy. We ordered bloody marys and egg dishes(mine — scrambled, his — over easy). The bloody marys came out immediately and were ok. It took 30+ minutes for our food to come out. And when the food finally came out, the eggs and toast were cold. We left the restaurant underwhelmed and disappointed. In short, I would not go back for breakfast.

I love an Irish Pub, and having worked in two, I’m picky. This one certainly passes muster. Dinner started with a 20 year old Jameson, that was lovely, then fried pickles — delicious. I had the Fish and Chips and there was enough to share with my friend. It was very tasty. One exception. The coleslaw. Ugh. It was awful. This is a personal taste thing, I guess others like it, but I didn’t. Regardless, on the whole, it was awesome and I would certainly go back. The waitress was attentive and nice and décor fit the tourist town/Irish Pub ambiance quite nicely.
