St. Michaels Harbour Inn & Marina

I found a special for Harbour Inn & Marina on an online site. I was worried after I booked the place (especially since the pics looked a bit unimpressive) that the low price I paid was not going to be what I was looking for in a vacation to St. Michaels. I even tried to cancel the reservation and pay $ 500 a night at it’s close popular competitor but I would have had to pay a substantial fee. As soon as I arrived with my fiancé to be, I was amazed by how beautiful the place was and how hospitable the staff was. The room, which did not look impressive in pics, was wonderful! It was very spacious, had many amenities, and the balcony was gigantic! The view of the marina was magnificent. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will most certainly go again.

What a lovely hotel right on the water! The room was huge and luxurious and the bed was super comfortable! Booked myself a spa treatment at the hotel and don’t want to leave! Will be recommending this place to my parents and friends!

We just got here for a two nights stay for my boyfriend’s birthday. The customer service is wonderful already. As we checked in Melissa (I think that’s her name) told us a good restaurant to have dinner then offered to make reservations for us. Then I noticed on the board in the Lobby had the names of the guest with birthdays this weekend. Then we get in the room (king waterfront suite) and there is a birthday card signed by the staff for my boyfriend. I love the personal touch. I’m sure I’ll add more to this review as we have only been here for an hour. Tomorrow’s schedule includes a couples massage at the spa. Looking forward to it.

My wife and I enjoyed a short, 2 night honeymoon here last weekend. We found several things to be fantastic, and several leaving something to be desired.
Check in was a breeze, and the very nice woman at the desk offered her congratulations on our wedding and made sure to give us all the information we needed for our stay.
The room (king size jacuzzi suite with a waterfront view) was well appointed and even included a nice note from management, again congratulating us on our wedding. The view was spectacular from both the bedroom and living room areas, and the room was already set up with wine glasses, champagne flutes, a small fridge, and a corkscrew. The one thing we could have lived without was signs reminding us that we would have to pay if we took any of the glasses… this seems rather obvious and really brings the classiness of the place down a lot.
On the first morning we made our way down to breakfast (included in room rate) which was one of the best complimentary breakfasts I’ve had. They had an omelet station, as well as plenty of muffins, bagels, donuts, coffee, yogurt, cereal, and various juices, not to mention a fantastic view of the water.
After a long week, we ended up taking a late morning nap and didnt leave to go to lunch until about 3pm. On our way out we asked the front desk if they could send a few towels up to the room while we were away as we knew we had missed room service already. When we returned they had serviced the whole room. Very unexpected and much appreciated!
That evening we stopped by the hotel bar for drinks before dinner, I left a review of that experience on the Unilocal page for the restaurant, but it did not go well. We literally watched the bartender top off our manhattans with water when she ran out of bourbon and was too lazy to get the new bottle down from the storage shelf. This was our first of only two negative experiences at the property.
The following morning after breakfast we stopped by the front desk and spoke with the manager about getting a late check out, we had a late evening flight, were interested in getting a spa treatment at the hotel, and figured a late checkout would be no issue. We were informed that for an extra $ 25 we could extend our checkout time to 1pm, and for an extra $ 75 we could extend to 3pm (what we had asked for). I could completely understand this if the hotel was fully booked, but we were visiting off season and hardly saw anyone else while we were there. We also made it clear that the main reason for asking for a late checkout was so that we could go to their spa for $ 300-​$ 400 worth of massages and treatments. This seems like a management «no-​brainer» to me, but maybe I was missing something. Needless to say, we decided not to pay them anything extra, checked out at the 1130 normal checkout time, and passed up the spa treatments.
Overall, very nice place, and I would love to say we will be back every year for our anniversary, but we will certainly be exploring other options next year, as I’m sure there are some out there.

This is the third year in a row I’ve spent my birthday here, but I think it may be the last. It seems to be going downhill (the restaurant is no longer there, gym out of order, last time there was a bandaid on the bathtub when we arrived) and I felt the woman at the front desk was rude. For the price you pay I expect better. The views are great and love being able to walk everywhere. I’m hoping they can turn it back around.

Hi St. Michaels is a lovely town and the room we had here overlooking the water was beautiful. However, the service was lacking and this was disappointing. We did not have our room cleaned on the first day of our stay, nor did the spa answer phone calls or return a voicemail. The Internet was also very slow. When we shared our frustrations with the front desk staff, they said it had been an off day and that one of the housekeepers was sick. This seemed unprofessional to us especially for a hotel that advertises itself as a resort and spa. The location was the only thing we can really endorse which is why I gave it 2 stars. For our last day we asked about a late check out and they wanted to charge us $ 25 for 90 extra minutes. That’s not a big deal except based on the lack of service we received throughout our stay, it seemed like that would at least be something they could have offered to us as a courtesy. I usually only like to leave positive Unilocal reviews but it seemed important to note the lack of customer focus and positive customer experience.

Nice view from 2^nd floor Captains suite. From the time we checked in, unfriendly, and the halls and room are very dated along with furniture and carpet we went down to pool and the 6 people in it really filled it up. I guess I expect much more for $ 300+ a night. BTW. There is a note on the 5 year old towels that says if you steal it they will charge you $ 50. That’s nice way to greet your guest

My Husband and I originally didnt plan on staying here, we were first staying at The old brick inn. After a horrible experience there we got a room here! Huge improvement, clean rooms, nice staff and spacious bathrooms! They also had so much to offer, from breakfast to activities posted in the lobby! We had a blast. Our floor was a bit noisy but aside from that, a truly nice experience.

Superior Staff! Beautiful, Modern, Large Rooms facing beautiful Nautical Views of the Harbor. The whole place has a modern, nautical theme. Free Shuttle to downtown café’s & shops. Daily continental breakfast. Rooms are TASTEFULLY appointed, with High Ceilings and Jacuzzi’s. You will be facing the Marina, and looking directly at the shipworks at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, which I STRONGLY suggest visiting. There are outdoor decks, pool, restaurant, bar & spa onsite. There is also a workout room. The bar, pool & deck are closed for the season, however, Their Sister Restaurant «The Bistro at St. Michaels» is a short shuttle ride to town. They offer Upscale Dining with an extensive Wine List. My Choice for a weekend winter escape! No Crowds! Shopping, Cafes, Museums, Pubs & Saloons, all with now crowds!

My fiancé and I spent a lovely weekend at St. Michael’s Harbour Inn for an unplugged getaway. We actually managed to snag a Living Social deal, but the service we received was nothing short of excellent, so I am sure they didn’t treat us any differently for it. It was nice to be there when the town was a little quiet, because I can imagine that it gets a bit chaotic in the summer months, but my only regret is that I wish we could have taken advantage of more of what the resort had to offer!
Our room was a Waterfront Jacuzzi room and oh wow, was it a beautiful view. We could see the harbour straight through our window. The bed was enormous and comfortable, and the amenities were very thoughtful, with wine and champagne glasses, a wine opener, and lots of the regular fare right there in the room for us. A bottle of bubbly came with our package, which we enjoyed alongside a warm, relaxing break in the jacuzzi. Apparently you can also request for them to draw a bath for you along with a bottle of sparkling wine, rose petals, and candles, which is super cute though I’m sure costs a pretty penny.
The stay also came with continental breakfast every morning, and this is not just plain cereal and milk. They have an omelette station (though fair warning that they just rub it with a towel between each preparation, so you should consider eating something else if you don’t eat pork for whatever reason) as well as bagel bites with egg and bacon, fruit, yogurt, numerous forms of bread, and coffee/​OJ.
It was lovely to be able to walk anywhere in the town right from the Inn, but they did have bikes to rent for those who are so inclined. We would love to come back to enjoy them in warmer weather as well as the pool. There is a small fitness room upstairs with the basics as well as a shop and several other amenities available upon request like handmade chocolates and a van to the Bistro in the town. The on-​site restaurant was closed when we were there for the season, but the bar was still open and we enjoyed a few drinks there with the excellent bartender Wes.
All in all, we had a lovely time at St. Michael’s Harbour Inn, and I would gladly go back anytime. They give spectacular service, as they should for the price, but let’s be real, that’s not always a given. So many great elements to enjoy, we could go back several times and still probably not fit everything in. Thank you for a wonderful weekend, and we hope to be back!

How I heard of this place: We were in search of a weekend getaway in St. Michaels without paying an arm and a leg for our accommodations. This one came highly recommended on Trip Advisor and became our new favorite diggs in St. Michaels.
Type of cuisine: «The Harbour Lights Restaurant provides guests with an elegant experience overlooking the Miles River and St. Michaels Harbor… The Club Room offers a relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy delicious cocktails, appetizing small plates and beautiful views of the harbor.»
Ambiance: The coziness that makes up the comfort and cushy space the Harbour Inn calls the Club Room is immediately felt upon entering the windowed door from the lobby. Hardwood floors, fluffy leather couches and a soft, amber glow in the lighting, even with the natural lighting streaming through the uncovered windows from the blue sky and deep, dark waters of the Eastern Bay.
What I ordered: Our massages ended and we were all hungry — despite brunch and our pending dinner reservations at Pascal’s. Rather than making the decision to eat upstairs or down, we enjoyed both! In the Club Room, even though the menu looked small, we easily found numerous dishes worth sampling. We narrowed it down to two: Baked Crab Pretzel ($ 12.50), a pretzel French stick topped with a crab salad and melted cheddar cheese. Panko Crusted Fried Oysters ($ 9.50), a generous helping of eight served with pickled cucumbers and red onions and Old Bay spiked remoulade.
What I loved: The remoulade, the pretzel, the melted cheddar and the crispy fried oysters. It was all delicious and would be welcome a second time!
Why I loved it: The obvious reason to love the Club Room: lounge-​like couch seating while enjoying hot appetizers and watching a PGA tour on the framed big-​screen television, beautiful scenery looking out over the Bay and chit-​chatting with our English proprietor.
Cost: High ($ 8.50 — $ 12.50 per Club Room mini plate)

What a beautiful place! As my first visit to MD I’m glad it was to the adorable St. michaels and the stay at the harbor inn. The rooms are huge and feature a separate bedroom, balcony, and jacuzzi in the livingroom. The staff was super friendly as were all the guests I met at the hotel. Breakfast is pretty sparse but included and the restaurant is nice. There is a small fitness room with a few cardio machines but nothing exciting. The real attraction is the harbor and the adorable town. I can see how weddings would be awesome here!

So my brother had an unusual situation our first night there. But the hotel handled it very well. They do allow pets at this hotel so beware. The room next to my brothers had a dog, and the dog barked continuously all night long. Preventing him from any real sleep. When my brother approached the front desk the next morning they were very apologetic and arranged for my brothers room to be paid for for that night. They also said they would have moved him but they were completely booked. So overall the hotel handled it well, just be aware that pets are allowed.
Cons. The hotel rooms seemed a bit dated. The bathrooms need updating and everything needs a little bit more interior decorating. A few more pictures on the wall or a different shade of paint would go along way. The continental breakfast was adequate at best. It did give a small variety but anyone who is trying to watch their sugar intake will be out of luck. They did have a nice little fruit salad mix that was very good, but even the Cheerios were Honey nut Cheerios. Also they did not have any skim milk or anything for the coffee just whole milk it seemed.
Pros. It is in such a nice location, and has such a nice view. The deck we had that looked out over the harbor was really great. The view and the privacy was appreciated. The bed was pretty comfortable, the pillows were fine, and overall it seemed very clean. The bartender was nice and made a good stiff drink and allowed us to take our drinks to our room which was appreciated. The people at the front desk were nice, cheerful, and helpful. The shuttle service that was offered to guests was a lifesaver. We used it several times throughout the weekend and it made all the difference in the world, especially the day we went to the winery, brewery and distillery!
I would definitely recommend staying here if you would like a nice and reasonably priced stay.

We stayed here last weekend and it was a good time. We found a good seasonal deal for $ 99 a night (plus 10% tax and $ 20 resort fee each day). We stayed in Room 303. It almost took our breaths away when we first entered the room since we weren’t expecting anything spectacular. Our bed faced the floor-​to-​ceiling windows directly overlooking the marina. Crab and Claw restaurant is right across the water (although it was closed for the season).
There was a bathtub right there in the back of the room (and another one in the bathroom). Of course we had to take advantage of it for a bubble bath. The inn provides bath services that include a bottle of champagne and rose petals in the tub, but we just went out and bought our own champagne, strawberries, and bubble bath. The tub also had massage jets.
They will also bring ice up to the room if requested. We got wine glasses, silverware, and a bottle opener for our needs. On Saturday night we also requested a shuttle to take us to Sherwood’s Landing for dinner. Everything was really smooth.
Breakfast was lacking a bit. All they had were bagels, croissants, yogurt, packaged oatmeal, fruits, and of course coffee and orange juice. Would’ve liked some meats (ham, bacon, etc) and eggs.
I think they also have free bike rentals, but we decided to skip that since it was pretty chilly the whole weekend and St. Michaels is such a small town that we could almost walk anywhere.

Overall, our experience was full of misinformation. First we were told the Bistro was open on the weekend we were there — Wrong, it opened the Monday after the weekend. The TV listing in the room listed all the channels offered, the problem was they subscription they have at the Inn only includes a small sub-​set of the channels. We were told many of the restaurants were open, not true, most were closed for the season. We were told the hotel has Wi-​Fi, well that was partially true, it was so bad it could not retain a connection. Lastly a gratuity was added to the bill, i found it interesting. A gratuity is defined as: is a sum of money customarily tendered to certain service sector workers for a service performed or anticipated. Tendered is the operative, it does not say levied.
We went to the St. Michael’s Winery and were over charged for tasting. SO i think the town”s motto should be changed from the town that fooled the British to the Town that fools the tourists, at least once.

Wonderful anniversary weekend. We ha a living social deal, but they upgraded us to the captains suite. Front desk helped with everything we could ever need, shuttle took us to and from the bars within 5 mins of calling, breakfast was good too!

We had a wonderful time at this Inn this past weekend, where we went to celebrate our 20^th Anniversary. We originally tried to get a room in Tilgmans Island, but after visiting there and also St Michael’s we’re glad this is where we ended up.
We arrived a couple of hours before checkin. We were greeted warmly, told our room was ready, and given information about the hotel ammenities and services as well as the town, and an event going on in town.
We stayed in 317, the Miles River Room… it was clean, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed, and the balcony was the bomb~looking directly into the harbor.
Since I can’t ever get away from work, I did have to use the Wi-​Fi immediately upon check in, and was pleased… it was fast, easy to connect, etc (this is not always the case at hotels, so I was pleased). Then we headed out for dinner.
It was only about 6 blocks to most of the restaurants & shops in town. (If you have a boat it is right on the water, so again a great location.) When we went to downtown, sometimes we walked, sometimes we called for the free shuttle that will take you anywhere you want to go. My husband and I don’t drink much, largely because we won’t drink and drive… but we had a designated driver on call for us so we actually were able to have a few drinks at dinner without a worry. It was kind of nice.
The pool was open, even after Labor Day. I wish our stay was longer, it looked appealing, but we didn’t get to try it out. We also chose to eat at the other restaurants downtown, but next time I would probably give Harbour Lights a try because I heard people saying good things about it.
We didn’t use them, but they offer free bikes, again if we go back we’ll probably use them.
The staff was FABULOUS throughout the stay, I can only think of one other hotel experience where I had service which rivaled what we had this weekend (that was the Ritz Carlton in DC). Ten Stars for the superior service! My husband loved that they put our names on the hotel TV to welcome us and congratulate us on our anniversary.

Had a great time with my wife and baby! We booked the least expensive room for 3 nights, one week ahead of time and arrived an hour before check-​in and they upgraded us to a suite on the first floor. I was really impressed as this was our first time at the hotel and all we did was book online through their website.
There is no fishing or crabbing allowed on property, but you can easily fish and crab on the dock right next to the public ramp which is immediately adjacent to the hotel. The pool was fun for our small family.
Hotel staff were knowledgeable about area attractions, and got excellent fishing advice from the housekeeper.
