Avoid the queso sauce! It put me in the hospital with an intestinal infection! I was on antibiotics for 10 days afterwards. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

I’ve tried this location twice now, and both times had terrible food. First time I ordered the chimichanga with the cheese sauce(supposedly a house specialty). The cheese sauce leaves your mouth feeling like you ate a bowl of melted Velveeta, and tasted about the same too. Just awful, and definitely not a freshly made sauce. If that sauce isn’t from a can or bag, I’ll eat my own shirt. Second time I actually dared to order another chimichanga(this time without the sauce). The beef filling had so much black pepper in it that it was inedible. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the service was decent.

Ok… Here is the PERFECT meal: order queso with your free chips. n salsa. Next, order a sierra mist. Then for your meal order 3 shredded chicken soft tacos with extra cheese and… BOOM!!! My favorite thing ever! I literally get this exact order twice a week. Try it just like this and be amazed!

Eh, it was okay. The service wasn’t that great. He was friendly, but he couldn’t keep up very well and nearly threw our drinks on the table. The chips were good and the salsa was fresh. Guacamole and cheese dip were both good. I had the chicken chimichanga(lunch portion) and it was plenty of food. It was shredded chipotle chicken and refried beans in a fried tortilla topped with cheese sauce. It was served with a side of rice, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. The tomatoes on everyone’s dishes tasted like they had gone sour. They were very over ripe. The house margarita was typical. My husband had a pork burrito and the pork was very good. The chicken fajita salad looked incredible, but it was served with a weird garlic bread topped with pico de gallo? Doesn’t even sound good. I more than likely wouldn’t return, but it wasn’t a bad choice for Mexican up north!

I found glass in my Wet Burrito. It was a cube approximately one quarter inch square. The manager acted like it was my fault and inspected my drink glass to see if I had bit a piece off. She stated«We dont use glass in our kitchen» I didnt disagree, but truth is I HAD A PIECEOFGLASSINMYMOUTH. Stuff happens. I did not complain, raise my voice, or make a scene. The manager handled it all very poorly. I was charged for one drink which has cost them any chance of my return. (this was posted once and removed, Hmmmmm?)

Love love love this place! I come in at least once a week, more if I have the time! Recommend coming in on Monday nights for the .99¢ tacos, a fun night out with great food at a great price, it can’t be beat! Any other night I order the Carnitas Tostada Stacker, the meat melts in your mouth and is delicious! If you’re more of a chicken person, the Chicken Tostada Stacker is always wonderful too! I’ve never been disappointed by a bad meal or bad service here! Their management is clearly a priority and strong suit, they run a great business!

My food was delicious… I didn’t realize I was eating bad Mexican food everywhere else I have gone. The meat cheese dip has a nice kick to it. The Spanish rice is nicely made, only thing I would change is a bigger portion size. The service was great, our waiter was super friendly and on the ball. I would recommend this place to anyone in the mood for Mexican food.

The food is bad the beans are really bad more like bean soup. The tacos do not have any flavor. The only thing that was good the beer and chips

Friendly staff, but desperately in need of an update/makeover. This place feels like it’s on its last leg, and it’s unfortunate because the food is actually very good, albeit a tad overpriced. Come here after the makeover, until then go to Chilis or Acupulco in Blaine.

The bad: A heads up for vegetarians … the rice is made with chicken stock. The salsa is bland. Didn’t care for the cheese enchilada or chile relleno either… The good: Queso dip. Yep, that’s it.

Ordered the seafood chimichanga and it was good until I got to the imitation crab meat which they called mahi mahi. It’s supposed to come with shrimp, scallops and mahi mahi, there was shrimp and scallops but there was no mahi in that at all, the waitress denied it was imitation crab meat but it definitely was and my boyfriend who had the same thing agreed, i should’ve taken a picture. It didn’t taste horrible but they should be honest about what they’re serving their customers. Also our waitress forgot a drink order twice and a different waitress had to finally bring it to us. The upside is two of our other dishes we ordered were delicious, especially the chicken soup but for all the other things they only get one star.

Let me start by saying, I have been to other locations(Stillwater, Woodbury) and not had near as terrible of an experience as I had here. I’m simply going to bullet point everything bad, as I don’t want to spend hours writing in detail(as I easily could). ~The«hostess» was not in any type of uniform(other employees were), and not standing behind the counter, not a professional start. ~Our server took more than 10 minutes to approach us. ~Our drinks took another 10+ minutes to arrive, mine closer to 15 as I watched it sit on the counter as my friends enjoyed theirs. I should note, the restaurant was not busy at this time. ~I asked for cheese sauce when we ordered out drinks, it didn’t come until we asked again after ordering our food. ~I opened my silverware, there was a dried piece of lettuce on the fork. ~One of my friends wasn’t given any silverware. ~My friend ordered her drink on the rocks, it came blended. They said they would just comp it-not even offering to make it the right way. They still charged her for it. ~My side of guacamole never came. ~Our bill(for 4 people, that we wrote out names next to the items) was not split correctly. ~We didn’t have a set server, 4 different people would come and ask us the same questions. I wont even complain about the food not being very good, as I didn’t expect it to be. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I’m leaving things out as it’s been a few days. Skip it, not worth your time.

ugggh… had to go to MEXICAN place again with the family… The chips where thick and like cardboard… cheese sauce with chorrizo was thin. I had tamale with beans and rice. The rice was old and dry and the tamale was covered with that damn red sauce probably from a can. I don’t care to ever go back.

Cheap drinks, good food and excellent service! A great place to stop in for some tasty Mexican food and Margaritas, if you’re in the Maplewood area, we stopped here before a show at Myth.

Unremarkable dining room and murky bathrooms. As others have noted, you’re not exactly going to get authentic Mexican food here, but it’s cheap and decent. Not the most delightful place overall, but I will go back occasionally because I’m a(poor) sucker for rounds of free chips and salsa. This is a good place to have some casual conversation over apps. Or if you like really weird, boozy, frozen drinks like avocado + vodka, there’s a surplus of that. Oh, and It’s seriously cold up in here, so bring a coat and you’re good to go.

Out and about running errands and remembered that we had a buy one get one coupon so we stopped in for lunch. For the value, we really received a lot of food. Sure, it might not be the most authentic, but for the price its almost as much as chipotle. Our server, Jessica was as sweet as can be and just the right amount of attentive. Refills and all. On the few occasions that I do order pop, I order a cherry pepsi. They make their cherry pepsi with a really good caliber of grenadine and their soft beverages come in a nicely proportioned glass. Chips are overflowing and they are ok. Not crazy about them, but they do the trick. Guacamole is a bit package tasting like it was pre– prepared from a factory in NJ as J describes it. I ordered the Fajita Burrito with shrimp. The cheese sauce smothering the burrito is pretty darn good. J ordered the arroz con pollo and commented how fresh and tasty it was and a nice change from the fried, fatty choices. We’ve come many a time and have never had bad service or bad food. Portions are quite large.

Thanks for the chips! It was the only thing we got! Okay, disclaimer — I was in a slightly bad mood and just wanted to eat. It was a Friday night, 8:50 pm. We typically hit up the Acapulco in Woodbury, but we were closer to Maplewood, so we go in. We don’t want a full meal and just want to sit in bar — it’s packed. The Twins game is on. I see a ton of d-bags, but no open seats. We are taken further back to a line of booths. There are 2 already occupied and one larger table next to us. We are seated, given menus, chips and salsa. Here is what happened next — A worker(obviously not a server) asks if she«can take the caddy and fill up the sauces.» Sure, she takes it, sits at a table for 2 next to us and fills them up. We wait and eat some chips. I see a server texting in a booth across the way. Said worker, then checks on the table behind us and takes their bill We wait and eat some chips. I see a server bring and take drink orders at another table. She brings their change or card or whatever back to them. We wait some more and eat more chips. I’m constantly checking the time because I’m growing more irritated as the minutes tick by. At least, 12 minutes later, chips are gone(I told you we were hungry and I was crabby), we get up, I say to said worker, «Thanks for the chips. They were good, the nonexistent service sure wasn’t.» She looks at me as though she’s never seen me before. Seriously? You’ve been sitting there for at least 12 minutes On the way out I said the same thing to the manager and she also looked shocked. We left and went to the New Brighton location. We are not going back — you suck big time Maplewood Acapulco.
