Specialties
We employ a wide variety of doctors and health care team members — all specially trained in emergency and critical care – in addition to a growing referral practice (primarily at our Oakdale location) for when your pet just isn’t feeling like himself.
We understand the anxiety of having a sick pet because all of our doctors and staff are pet owners, too. Therefore, we make every effort to keep you «in the loop» about the care your pets receive, while paying special attention to your needs.
Though we are an emergency practice and will never forget our roots, we are forging a future in referral medicine. Critical Care & Internal Medicine (including our I-131 Treatment Facility for Hyperthyroid Cats,) Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Cancer Care, Dentistry, and Dermatology are just some of the services your pets can receive when needed.
History
Established in 1980.
The Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC) was established over 30 years ago by a group of veterinarians who wanted to provide their clients with quality veterinary care during non-business hours.
We started out with one clinic, one veterinarian, and one technician! Over the years, our hospitals have grown, and we highly value the relationships we’ve built with local veterinarians, pets and owners in the many communities we serve.
Meet the Manager
Karen R.
Manager
Karen Reynhout, DVM, has been a dedicated member of AERC since 1992. Karen was promoted to Medical Director in 2002, adding management duties to her continued role as a team veterinarian. In 2012, she was promoted again to Hospital Director.
Karen has been commended by grieving clients for her compassionate bedside manner. The ability to support clients at such difficult times is the part of her job she finds most rewarding.
