Cozy nook in a beautiful building. I enjoy the original artwork. The«Breakfast Special» was relatively inexpensive. I’d go back.

Watch how much they charge you for your food… I get a half a salad. and I know it gets loud in there. and I wasnt paying attention. but he could clearly see the small /pint size container, to go, sitting there. but he still charges me for a full… and I should have said $ 7.50. what the hell, for a half of salad, ??? But now Im mad that he took advanatge of the situation…. my fault but he can look at what container is sitting on the counter too. Next time Ill learn. but as a FYI… show him and clearly state half –of-a-salad

My daughter who attends SPCPA in the Landmark has told me about Anita’s for the past two years, wanting me to meet her for lunch on several occasions. I always declined but today, she on Spring Break, myself on vacation, I agreed. What a nice surprise! I had the special which was a shrimp pasta dish and it was excellent. It was one of the best pasta dishes I have had in a long time, made with fresh ingredients and the sauce was delicious. My daughter tasted it and we almost got another order to take home with us! The portion was huge, I had to take some home and the price was crazy cheap at $ 6.95. My daughter raves about their southwest Caesar salad which she had today and that was excellent as well. They prepare your food to order and from the looks of it, most things are homemade. The bread rolls they have are amazing. Little homemade bread rolls with olive oil and oregano(I think), not sure what all was on these tasty buns, but whatever it was, made them yummy. As if the food alone wasn’t enough to give this place a sold 5++++ stars, the service and friendliness of the staff was jaw dropping. My daughter pointed out who she thought the owner was but I never would have known which one of the three men working today was the owner, because they all acted like they really cared about the customers. Super nice, asking everyone how their food was and thanking people for coming in… Wow, who does that anymore. Everyone even acted like they loved their jobs!!! I am so happy to be moving to downtown St. Paul so I can come eat at Anita’s more often and next time my daughter asks me to meet for lunch at Anita’s, I will most definitely just ask her, «What time?»

Anita’s is anything an ordinary café. The food is prepared by actual chefs using the feshest and choicest ingredients available. A different special every day, home made soups, sandwiches, and addicting salads all at exceedingly reasonable prices make Anita’s a top spot for lunch. As I do a couple times per week, today I had a cup of soup(lemon chicken rice — $ 3) and a Greek Peasant Salad(tasty romaine, yellow peppers, kalmata olives, feta, tomatoes, red onion, oregano, and fresh tossed with a balsamic olive oil vinegrette and topped with a grilled chicken breat — $ 6.95). During the school year, tons of high school kids eat here daily and I like the energy and joyful noise they bring. On Wednesday’s at noon, the performing arts school does dance or music presentation making for a delightful respite from the workday. Other times, like today, it’s more subdued. The ambiance is the majestic interior of LandMark Center and when Beethoven’s «Ode to Joy» started playing as I was munching my Greek Peasant Salad salad I sort of drifted into a reverie of splendid proportion. Everyone should have this lunchtime experience…

On a recent trip to St. Paul, we stopped in here for breakfast. It’s a small café, but the chef took our order and prepared a wonderful breakfast. It was priced very cheap and the atmosphere is amazing since you’re in one of the more well-known buildings of St. Paul. Enjoy!
