Caribou Coffee

This place was dirty. This isn’t normal for Caribou.

Great location. Easy parking in the lot and on the street. Friendly staff.

I usually don’t write reviews for every Chain coffee house I visit but after reading Arah B’s and Jessica K’s reviews, I must. I wish I could read Tim D’s review that Jessica refers to but I do not see it anywhere.
I agree with Arah in that I do not feel the service was good here at all. In fact, I thought the girls working here were snotty. I tend to stay away from Caribou for this very reason but we were near the river and wanted something to drink. Its a shame, because initially, I really liked it and since we just moved downtown, its probably the closest Caribou to us now.
The drinks were fine but a snotty barista is enough to keep me away. There are way too many other coffee shops around to have to put up with that.

I used to stop here regularly as the shop is so close to my office. However, the last three times I’ve gone here — over several months — the service has been less than acceptable. I walk through the door that is in front of the counter, often in the early afternoon, and if there was a server at the counter, she moves away from the counter and tends to sweeping or something else, without even telling me that she can help me in a moment. For retail, I’d be a-​ok with this behavior. But at a coffee shop? Especially one that’s part of a chain? No.

After seeing Tim D.‘s review, I must share my VERY positive experience with this particular Caribou. I live on the river, so it is very convenient. The staff is quite friendly when I stop in for my 6 am morning cub of joe, noon study break, or my 9:30 pm pick me us for an all nighter. No matter what time I’m there, I have NEVER been treated without polite and friendly chit chat. Also, even when I haven’t been in a while, the staff typically remembers my order… it is not your standard recipe either, extra this, extra that, not so hot. I digress.
Their location is a nice little hot spot, but may people don’t know about it unless they live close which makes for an even more friendly environment. At times, it can be a bit busy but it is never dirty or too crowded to get a seat. The restroom, I can only attest to the ladies, is also always clean.
Lastly for Tim D… The staff is extremely friendly, maybe it is the fact that you’re using a place of business as your own personal potty break, or maybe you’re rude as you enter and leave as you feel entitled to use their facilities without purchase (a bet a sincere smile and thank you would probably do the trick), or maybe you could use the FREE port a potty on the river located directly behind the building to avoid the ‘rude’ staff. That may just solve the problem all together.

My favorite coffee shop. They have the same coffee at all the Caribou coffee shops but this one has the best atmosphere. It is usually fairly quiet even when it is crowded. Most patrons read or use their laptops. It has a fireplace and some amazingly comfortable chairs right in front of it. The people who work there are the best.
