These guys are the bees!!! Seriously. They saved me today in more ways than they will know. One guy in particular, Scott, stayed with me, talked me down from the ledge, and went so far above and beyond that I’m awestruck. Thank you!!! I’ve grateful and surprised that such great customer service is still out there.

I have had the same old laptop for almost 9 years. I am fairly frugal and figure why invest in a new one as long as the one I have is working. I spilled some water on the keyboard and lost the use of a few keys. I looked up computer repair and figured I would check these guys out. I called ahead to see if I needed an appt and was told that I could just stop in. I was also told there current turn around was about a week. So I stopped in one morning on my way to work expecting to just drop off my laptop. The gentleman who helped me immediately recognized how old my laptop was which impressed me. I explained that happened and he stated he thought he had a keyboard in stock that might help. He began working on my laptop right away. I was thinking how about this for service. He brought out a new keyboard, replaced my current keyboard and everything was working again. He tightened up a few screws, cleaned up my laptop and I was back in business. I’m sure not all repairs are quite this simple and he did state I was lucky that the damage was not worse. Regardless I was impressed with their service and kindness and will definitely go back for any of my future computer needs.

Prices too high and i had to bring it back with expired Windows, it took 11 days to fix

After months of my aging laptop being slow and «weird» I decided to have it serviced. Chipheads has good (albeit limited) reviews and is in a familiar neighborhood so I decided to go with them.
We brought it in on a weekday afternoon and talked to the tech for about 10 mins. I was majorly impressed by two things. First, the guy didn’t make me feel like an idiot and spoke in mostly laymen’s terms. Now, as we all know, IT guys specialize in making the rest of us feel like idiots and pride themselves on speaking a language of their own. So this was a really big deal to me that I wasn’t talked down to and the problems and options were explained in terms I could understand. Second, after listening to me and tinkering around for a few minutes, the tech gave me all my service options and did it in a way that wasn’t pushy at all. He let me know approximately how long it would take for the (attempted) repair and how much it would cost. Then he also noted that if the repair required parts they would call me to OK the additional time, labor, and parts costs before they proceeded. He also let me know that in some instances it would actually be cheaper to buy a new laptop than for them to perform the repairs and they would also let me know if that was the case. And then he asked me what I wanted to do. No hard sell, just laid out my options in an honest and factual manner. I paid a deposit — about $ 98, which seems a bit pricey, but who knows, maybe they’ve had a problem with people dropping off and not picking up their laptops? — and was on my way.
My laptop was ready about a week and a half later. The rest of the bill was about $ 90, so it cost me about $ 200 to have my laptop debugged and checked out. Several months later, it’s not running like new, but it’s about four and a half years old, so it’s never gonna run like new again. But I am receiving fewer error messages and am confident they cleaned up any viruses.
Chipheads’ motto is «We make you feel smart about computers… Even if you’re not!» I agree that this is their approach and was satisfied with their service. I would definitely recommend Chipheads for your computer repair needs. There is also a Richfield location.

Didn’t actually have repairs done here, but got good, honest advice from a friendly staff member. Giving 4 stars for being courteous and trustworthy. Will upgrade after experience with repairs in the future.

I have a Macbook Pro that i had stripped the bottom screws out. Could not get it out for the life of me. Decided to call a few local places, and people on craiglist and most had wanted between $ 30 and $ 75! I called Chipheads and they said they dont specialize in Mac but would give it a shot. I stopped by today and within 5 minutes, he had gotten both the bad screws out! One was a full circle that was stripped out! Even better than gettiing the screws out, was that he said it was free of charge! WOW! will do all my computer repairs, upgrades, etc that i cannot do myself at this place from now on :)

Brought the family laptop in after getting the black screen of death. They fixed it up right, did a good job communicating with me during the process and were friendly. I was debating between here and a Best Buy Geek Squad (who I had used before). Chip Heads was superior in every way possible, and I am glad I made the decision to stay local in St. Paul!

My wife dislodged the power supply in her laptop. Rather than mess with it ourselves, she took it to Chipheads St Paul location (only a handful of blocks from home).
Professional, courteous, honest, good communicators and most importantly with computer repair, they actually knew what they were doing! While they were tinkering around in there, they also fixed her wonky cd/​dvd drive bay.
We’ve had the machine back for a week or two now with no complaints. If you don’t have the time or inclination to repair your computer yourself, give this place a try. There is also a MPLS location.
