Discount Tire Store – Saint Paul, MN

No, I didn’t drive through a hardware store, but I had a nail in each front tire anyway. These saintly folks, welcoming and friendly, got me in and out for a double tire plug in an hour, staying past their posted hours and singing Sinatra as they chatted with me and mopped the floors, so I could get home safely rather than on two flat, floppy pieces of mediocre Subaru stock tires.
These guys are scarily passionate about tires and they’re so genuinely hospitable, I never thought I’d develop such affection and loyalty to a tire joint. Also, they did it all for free.
You go Discount Tire on University. You’ve got a darn fine crew. Made it home safe and with my wallet not an ounce lighter.
And as others have said, they’re busy. But for free services that other places charge for, and with a smile on their faces, you’ve gotta love these guys.

Absolute incompetence! If you like waiting a really long time for bad service, come here.

This was my second time here (1^st a few years ago). I got a flat downtown Saint Paul and after having a horrid day and a few mental breakdowns, Antywone (I think I spelled your name wrong, I’m sorry!) was an angel! He helped me out and gave me a good deal on the tires. A new tire for an ’01 Malibu runs about $ 47 there without their services, which oddly was already $ 10 cheaper than the Discount Tire in West Saint Paul. Because he was so nice to me when I was having a bad day and did his best to help, I will most definitely recommend him to my friends in the future if they need help. Thank you!

If I could give less then a full star I would! They some how broke my tail light and claim this is how I brought it in. Yeah, I don’t think so. I’d be very careful when going to this place.

I only have been to the Eden Prairie location before and I was afraid the service wouldn’t be the same. I was dead wrong! The service was excellent and friendly. They were very helpful to a car noob like me. I would recommend this place to anybody!

I went in to buy a used tire because of a flat in my tire that was beyond repair. Joe listened to what I needed. Didn’t try to get me to buy a new tired. He found what I needed and even brought it out to me. It took over an hour to get my car back, but they were pretty busy.
The crew were very friendly and courteous. They will always get my business.

Some of the best customer service I have ever received in my life. Right from the moment I walked into the door til I left. Told me everything I needed to know and were very professional. Please bring them more business and tell others.

Don’t even want to give you guys any star. I set up an appointment for 3 pm. Comes in and they said you’ll be done in an hour. It’s 4 and my car is still outside. This is my second time coming here and it happen twice. Only came back because my tires have a 5 thousands miles tire rotation and blance warranty. You guys are horrible and there shouldn’t be 10 people in line waiting for help while there’s only 2 guys trying to help. Each person they help takes at lease 10 minutes. Horrible service so I will not be coming back. Nothing but lies at this place.

It’s my first horrific experience with them. they don’t do what they said … If they told you to pick your car in one hour, give them three hours in advance. In addition they don’t answer the phone. I Don’t recommend this place to any one :(

I am amazed this place ranks so high on Unilocal.3 of my hubcaps were damaged when I got the car back after having them put on snow tires. I ended up losing 2 of them as a result within a couple of weeks and am now buying new ones. A little patience, finesse with a flathead and 10 more seconds would have prevented this damage.
Then, when we were doing a brake job on the rear, 4, count ‘em FOUR of my bolts snapped apart because they were on SO OVERLY TIGHT. There is a prescribed amount of torque recommended, which obviously wasn’t followed. Each repair is only as good as the mechanic doing the job and as another reviewer put it, if you specialize in one thing, in this case, tire sales and installation, people come to you for your expertise. That is trust in a professional. The mechanic that did my car should be ordered to «Drop the impact wrench and step away from all cars. Now! You’re on phones from now on buddy.» Or better yet, find another profession.
It must be said that I did not purchase my snow tires at this location. The priority is obviously on sale of product. Don’t bring your car here.

Got a flat tire while at work, called them uo and they said they were available to get my truck in but it would take about an hour and a half to get it in and repaired. Dropped it off and explained i needed to get back to work and they offered to call me when it was ready, they called about two hours later and i wasn’t able to pick it up till after they closed, they again offered to call me when they closed to tell me what time they were all leaving the shop. I came after the shop closed while they waited for me to get there to pick up my truck. Great service from Danny and the crew there.

So I’ve never had to purchase a full set of new tires before, and rigorously reviewed Unilocal before settling with this location.
So, so happy I did!
I called Craig prior to arriving and informed him the make/​model of tires I was interested and the nearby deal if a competitor. Not only did he match that deal, he gave me information on my previously desired tire being discontinued and gave me a better (newer) make from same brand– and still cut $ 100 off when I said it was above my price point.
To me that is outstanding customer service. In and out within an hour with a smile. I give full recommendations to this location.

Well, I wanted to send a customer complaint directly to the store, but it appears there’s no way to do that on the national OR the local website, so I’ll post here instead.
Have had very good experiences with this location until last week, when phones went unanswered FOREVER (and don’t even get me started on the ever-​so-​annoying message that repeats OVER and OVER and OVERRRRR) so I made an appointment online for a snow tire mount.
Brought the car in on Wednesday afternoon. It was the first time I’d not had to have the tires removed from the rims to swap them, as I’d invested in rims and was told this would be less expensive in the long run. Add points for free tire swap if you bought all your tires from them.
Got the tires changed out in the hour estimated, more points for them. Went back to my car (parked in the HealthEast lot as their lot was completely full) to find it unlocked with all my Christmas gifts and the all-​season tires on rims in the back seat. Not a good idea in that, or any for that matter, part of town. Major points off for that. They hadn’t swapped out the wheel covers, much to my surprise, nor had they asked me whether I wanted this done. Deduct more points. It had always been done before. My car looked kinda ghetto without them, but I figured whatever, I just wanted to get out of there.
Next day I’m leaving work and happen to notice that one tire looks suspiciously low. I walk around my car and discover that ALL FOUR TIRES look very low, so off I go, back to the place, where I learn that all the tires are about 10 lb low. I presume, as does the nice guy who fills ‘em up, that the person who did the swap the day before ‘forgot’ to put air in the tires. WOW. This is a TIRE PLACE. I understand you’re busy, but really? REALLY? To add insult to injury, I went inside to inform the guy with whom I’d dealt the day before and he tried to pass the buck by blaming ‘the gauge.’ Please.
Not sure what to think of this place anymore.

Took great care of me today. Repaired the tire leak, rotated and balanced tires for free since I bought my tires from discount tire before. The team was fast, honest and professional.

What kind of place replaces 2 of your tires with «loaners» because they don’t want to put you out on the road with the ones you have? One that will get my business and my recommendation any time.
I was only going to replace two tires at a time due to budget limitations, but they didn’t like the way the other two looked. They offered to loan me some new ones and put them on for no charge which I was very grateful for. I made an appointment for the other two, came back, and they put them on without charging me.
I respect a company that is willing to work with you and seems to have your best interest in mind.
Since then, I’ve been back for tire rotations and replacing a sensor in one wheel which they took care of quickly and efficiently.
The warranty seems to be work it and the staff has been nothing but the best. Strongly recommended.

I’ve never had anything but a great experience at this business. I had my tires replaced here a couple of years ago for a very reasonable price, and in the past two years I’ve run over a nail once (which they fixed for free) and blown out two tires on Minnesota spring potholes (which they replaced for $ 12 each. Yes. $ 12). The warranties on their tires are fantastic.
It’s also notable that for a chain tire shop in the dodgy Midway neighborhood, the customer service is consistently sincere and efficient, and they go above and beyond to accommodate and serve their customers.
It’s so rare to find a place like this. Very impressed.

Best price in town for my AWD car’s tires. Excellent customer service — they did not try to talk me into replacing 4 tires instead of the two I really needed. Quick in and out on a Saturday without a prior appointment. Open until 5pm on Saturday too.
