A full service bike shop specializing in refurbished bikes and bike repairs, we have a wide selection of new and used parts as well as cycling accessories. We are also a social enterprise, reinvesting 100% of our proceeds into our apprenticeship program, developing young entrepreneurs in our community.

We offer a large and diverse selection of refurbished bikes for sale, from high-​end to unique to cheap, all prepared by our skilled mechanics and priced at 50% of new or less. Taking on all repair projects, large and small, we specialize in getting your bike back on the road at an affordable price. We also keep a large inventory of new components can order almost any item, getting it in quick.

History

Established in 1995.

Initially established with a sole focus on refurbishing and selling quality, used bikes, we have expanded to offering bike repairs, with our skilled mechanics taking on any repair project, new components from major distributors, and carrying a full selection of competitively-​priced accessories.

Great service and pricing! I needed quite a few repairs/​new parts on an old bike, and they did everything I wanted for much cheaper than another shop’s quote. They were super chill and knowledgeable, and didn’t seem annoyed at all that they had to walk me through the whole process (as I’ve sometimes felt at other shops). They also have a great selection of well-​priced used bikes if that’s what you’re looking for!

A friend recommended this small bike shop and I left impressed. The guy that helped me was laid back, knowledgeable, and a good teacher. I brought my bike because the gears were not working. He addressed the need, answered tons of questions, and processed the order. On top of all that, the prices were super fair.

Note: I don’t have much experience in bike shops, so I’m only giving it four stars because I have nothing to compare it to.
I needed a tune-​up on my EXTREMELY girly cruiser. I called Express Bike Shop. I dropped it off. It was done three days earlier than they said. It was $ 15 cheaper than quoted. The staff was friendly and speedy. My bike spins like a dream.

We bought a bike here recently. In some ways the store is really good. They have a decent selection of used bikes and they allow you to take the bikes out for a test ride. In other ways, I think the shop could use some major improvement. Staff seemed to be less knowledgeable than I would have expected. Also, when we completed our purchase, there was no effort to check out the bike or adjust it for the rider. The prices were okay, but not great.

Had a long overdue overhaul done on my mountain bike. It’s like new again and came in almost exactly at the estimated price. Dropped it off late on a Wednesday and was told it would be ready by the following Wednesday. Got a call on Monday to let me know I could pick it up. Under promise/​over deliver. Will be getting all my maintenance done here from now on.

had a great experience here! super helpful staff, easy going prices. i was in the market for a used bike and found several that fit the bill. it was hard to decide which i loved more! as an added bonus they are not for profit and help youth as the previous reviews have pointed out.
my experience here was a wonderful one, i feel great sending people their way!

Express is a non-​profit social enterprise of Youth Express, a youth-​serving-​youth mentoring and training program in St Paul. What does this mean, you ask? It means that you can feel good about coughing up some dough to tune up that rickety old thing you’ve been riding around St Paul all these years.
Express reinvests 100% of its revenue back into its mission, allowing it to teach and train local youth (interns) about running a business and fixing bikes.
Express is not the place to go if you’re into competitive cycling or fancy fast bikes. If you’re looking for an old refurbished steel frame for $ 125, though, this is your shop. Most of the mechanics are young and eager to help, but probably aren’t going to get your bike ready for tomorrow’s race.
I’ve taken a couple of bikes there for tuning and quick-​fixes over the past year or so, and have had good experiences both times… plus it feels good to know that your dollars are going to a worthwhile cause.
