Peking Restaurant

I started going to the Peking around 1992 and at that time the food was consistently excellent. We used to order every week or so for pick up and occasionally go for the buffet. Over the years and I think a change or two of hands it has gone downhill. I would still go every once and awhile to pick up orders but the final straw came when we went for my sons birthday to the buffet. The food seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile and the selection was slim. I felt like we totally got ripped off based on the price and quality. The woman asked if there was a problem and I told her I was disappointed but still no offer to make situation better or give us a discount of any kind. Now we either go to the Tea House or if I want a buffet I will try for the Great Moon in Maplewood. I think if they make the food fresh it is better but still not like the old Peking that I remember.

A friend spoke fondly of coming here as a kid so the husband and I decided to try it out. We arrived at 5ish on Saturday completely starving because we missed lunch while helping friends move…
When we arrived there were only two other small groups of people. A couple and a small family. They were over weight and appeared to be fairly poor. Their kids were running all over the restaurant.
The service consisted of a young man in his late teens/​early 20’s who was texting. The price was very high for the quality of food.
The food was old and dried out. The sauses in many of the dishes had dried to a goo. The rib and chicken were so dehydrated that I was unable to bite into them. The veggies tasted old and stale. I tried two plates of food and they were non-​edible aside from the fresh won-​tons and the brownie bites which were quite good. The egg rolls were mediocre, but because we were starving– we ate up.
Normally I am not about wasting food, but this food was already wasted. I thought about leaving and asking for a refund, but was too tired from all the moving.
We will not come back and will not be recommending this place to anyone who we actually like.

I went here for dinner with my dad and we both got sick. There is not a booth in this place that does’nt have dirty, sticky duct tape holding the seat together. The resteraunt is dirty and service sucks. I would not go back to this place if you paid me.
