Primp

This store always has a new selection of beautiful items, which I love. However, the reason they lost two stars is because of the quality of their clothing and the customer service. Their clothes are nice, but they are all bad quality polyester. There is nothing wrong with that in itself but they are charging more than they should be. The main problem for me is the customer service. The past few times I have been in, the employees are rude and seem to feel that helping customers is a chore. I do not like being treated that way when I am a paying customer. I have noticed that unless you are a young, beautiful woman similar to the employees, they will not give you much thought. Their behavior seems insincere and snobbish. I really wanted to love this store and it used to have far better service, but now it just feels like I am wasting the employees time. Lucky for them, I won’t be doing it any longer.

It seems each location is a carbon copy of the next… rude, snobby employees who have nothing to do but steam clothing rather than actually HELP customers. I attempted to try on an outfit at the White Bear location, but after waiting for over 20 min for a room I gave up. The clothes are hit or miss, when a store has the word «cheap» literally written on the door, that’s kind of what’s expected. I don’t think I’ll bother again, I’ll pay a little more for better quality and service.

I love stopping in here when I’m in town. They usually have a good selection of popular in-​season styles and some unique ones, too. There are times when I go in and want to buy everything and some times when I just don’t have any luck.
That being said, they have something for everyone and I like that they don’t overflow their racks. When they’re selective in what they put out, it makes me feel like my purchases there are one-​of-​a-​kind and I won’t run into someone else wearing the same thing.

Saying I love Primp would be an understatement! Every time I go in I am never disappointed. The staff make you feel very comfortable and are extremely helpful, you almost feel like you have your own stylist! Primp is extremely affordable too which makes it that much more appealing! Plus who can be angry when you can drink wine and mimosas while you shop ;)

Primp is a cute boutique clothing store, without the higher boutique prices. Every time I have visited the staff were friendly, helpful, and never pushy. The most recent time I visited, in May, they had fun, colorful items and everything looked to be really good quality. I’d be interested to see if the other reviewers from years past found it better on a subsequent visit. While this time I didn’t find anything I just *had* to have, I’d visit again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this boutique! From the looks of it, I thought everything would have high price points, but the prices were probably my favorite part of the store! I walked away with 5 items for $ 125! Whoop!
All of the items were super cute and I wanted to buy a lot! A tip for all of you– follow them on Facebook or instagram so you know what they have at the moment!
My only complaint is that I didn’t feel like I could complete my outfit with a cardigan or blazer and shoes.

My friend and I were so excited to finally stop here since we had driven past it a zillion times. Unfortunately, the clothing is uninspiring and repetitive. Polyester blazers, polyester flowy tanks, polyester rompers, polyester maxi dresses, and it goes on. The belt selection is only thing worth checking out – several hues, materials, patterns, textures.
And to the sales associates who were standing around (to their credit, the store wasn’t very busy), try greeting people when they walk in the door. Or, greeting them at all. Retail 101.

The staff is warm and attentive. I love shopping at this Primp location.

Every time I go into Primp the exact same thing happens. First, I decide to go in as I walk by based on something ADORABLE in the window. Then, I proceed to buy adorable dresses that all average about $ 60 a pop. Then I leave feeling SUPER happy.
I love Primp because their styles are always on-​trend, but without the price tags. It’s like a more sophisticated Forever 21. But like all things, you get what you pay for, meaning that you might only get a few really solid wears out of that $ 15 top or $ 15 necklace before it breaks or snags or feels uncool overnight. Only other downside is that the clothes skew small, so sometimes I leave feeling a bit… uhm…not the greatest about myself from a sizing perspective — but it totally depends on the individual pieces.
That said, this place finds great dresses, scarves, and basics. It’s perfect for finding a flowery summer hippie chick dress or a button down blouse for that business meeting. Plus, the women who run the store are always super smiley, chic and helpful. Willing to be the ultimate tie-​breaker when deciding which pieces go home with you and which stay put.
Bonus: I follow Primp on Instagram, which has definitely also lured me into their store before in search of that specific shirt or cardigan… so that’s been helpful if I’m looking for something specific.
Last thing to note: Primp has an odd return policy, so just make sure you ask about that. I think all jewelry is non-​refundable and there’s a short window to make any true returns (meaning not getting store credit but straight-​up cash), so just make sure you ask about that.

Prices at Primp are great – but quality can be a compromise. However, they always have an extremely friendly staff and are always willing to help out with putting together outfits (which I love). I love the St. Paul location but it’s getting a bit small for how busy this cute little shop has become over the years. Another fitting room is a must!
Regardless, cute clothes with some awesome owners – give it a try if you’re looking for a cute dress or fun outfit!

The prices of the clothing and jewelry here are so reasonable. You can always find something to buy.
The store isn’t jam packed with clothing, which I like. You can breathe in here as you peruse the racks.
The women who work here are so nice and helpful.

Located on my favorite street in my favorite neighborhood in Saint Paul, I was delighted when Primp opened. The clothes they carry are cute, cheap, and — as is almost never the case with clothes that are cute and cheap — well made. The store is small, but it’s organized well, and it’s easy to maneuver between racks.
It can get busy during peak shopping times and there’s usually a bit of a wait for a fitting room, but it’s worth it.

This is my go to store when I’m in need of a dress for any occasion. If you need a dress for the office, a vacation, day drinking, or a wedding you’re attending, Primp’s got you covered.
I try to shop local as much as I can, but the problem with that is it can hurt my wallet. With Primp, you won’t have that problem. It’s very reasonably priced, and because they carry a limited number of each item, you won’t have to worry about running into someone with the same outfit on (who doesn’t hate that).
All of the above gives them four stars. An extra star for the customer service.

This is a nice edition to the boutique shopping in st paul. I like the location and I am impressed with the pricing and products they have. They do rotate quite frequently and get new things in so it is always nice to stop by. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have also been in there when they are having a promotion of some sort here and there or more like a celebration because I was able to get some treats at a candy bar once which was really cool. They typically have some type of fresh flower arrangement on the counter — and once they had coffee and assorted sweets and treats… I must always just hit it on a good day or something…
I have purchased my 22 year old daughter several things here since they opened and the prices are considerably better than some of the other little shops around the area – for that one of a kind dress or outfit to wear for something special…

I love that their tagline is cheap. And it is! It’s a reasonable alternative for Urban, Gap, Free People, etc, but it gets bonus points for being a local business. Everybody was nice, helping with sizing and styling and such. I didn’t end up getting anything (suitcase weight limits suck so hard) but I wish I could have – my friend did get something, though. I would definitely recommend this place for holiday shopping in the coming months!

They call it Cheap-​Chic. I love wearing dresses and skirts and this place has plenty of them! The prices are reasonable for a boutique style store. They even offered us water as we waited in line for the dressing room. They don’t have a ton of each item, so it can be a hit or miss if they have your size or not. I wish they had more dressing rooms, as every time I shop there I have to wait at least 5 – 10 minutes for a room to try on the clothes. It may not be a problem, if you go at off-​peak shopping times.
When you are done shopping, you can stop next door at the Bar’s bakery for some coffee and dessert! A perfect afternoon!

I visited Primp earlier this summer because I was in search of a dress to wear to a wedding and I liked the look of the options I saw on their Facebook & website. Plus they were having a little dress soirée. Perfect.
At first glance, I was impressed. The space is cute, and it’s well organized and decorated. I thought, «Now this is my kind of boutique!» While browsing the racks, I noticed the prices were unbelievably low! I was so excited that thought I might be able to walk out with not just one dress, but two for the budget I set for myself. But, my excitement quickly diminished.
I left disappointed because although I found a few items I liked, I had to wait for a dressing room for over a half hour (I almost decided to leave), and the staff did nothing to help move the process along. In fact, they were paying such little attention that at one point, I had to notify them that a customer had vacated one of the rooms.
Once I actually got to try on the items I’d chosen, I found flaws in all of them. The fabrics were so thin and some of the dresses actually lacked liners, so you could totally see through them! The one dress I really loved, but it was sewn so crooked that it was impossible to ignore. After that experience, it makes sense why everything is priced as cheaply as it is. I think there could be an occasional good find, but I won’t be going out of my way to shop here. :(It saddens me, because I really, really wanted to like this place.

Primp is a little hit or miss. I have been here several times, and about half the times, I have found absolutely perfect things, and end up buying a bunch of things. Other times, I walk out with nothing. Though, that isn’t a fault of the store, just that they don’t always have my style.
However, I love their prices and how it has such an expensive feel when you walk in, only to realize most of their dresses are under $ 50, and their shirts are even less expensive. They always have cute accessories… I am personally tempted by their belt selection!
The employees are really nice, and they are always really helpful at suggesting outfit parings, and have always been honest about the way
clothing looks on you, something I really appreciate.
They also give a discount to students… just show your college i. d, and get a percentage off your total! Very helpful for small budgets!

I was randomly inspired to shop a few weeks ago — okay not random, pretty standard for me — and I remembered driving past this little shop a the month before so I decided to stop in. I am happy I did.
The «cheap boutique» Primp provides you with darling options that are affordable but not as mass-​produced as stores like Forever 21. I ended up having a wonderful overall experience: I was the only customer in the store during my visit but instead of having a stuffy silence, the worker was extremely friendly and helpful. I tried on a number of dresses and tops and only wish I had more money so I could’ve added my finds to my wardrobe. I ended up getting a dress, scarf, and earrings (all of which I have received countless compliments on).
Reading other reviews, I will agree that the quality is lower than other boutiques but you are getting what you pay for. If I wanted to spend $ 100+ I would expect that to reflect on the quality.
They get new items in daily and you can see some of their new stock on their Facebook page — great friend :)

I don’t want to knock on Primp because I love the concept – everything is under $ 100 – and the store is really cute, but it reminded me of Forever 21 with fewer options (although they do get new inventory daily and the saleswomen are very good about communicating that).
However, as soon as I’m in need of new tank tops, I’m heading to Primp. I think they were about $ 5 a pop.
