History
Established in 1955.
Sandeen’s Scandinavian Gifts was founded in 1955 by Gail and Sandy Sandeen to fulfill a local need for Scandinavian folk art supplies and gifts. Gail taught folk art for 35 years and many of her best pieces are on display at the shop.
Meet the Business Owner
Kay S.
Business Owner
Kay Sandeen started helping in the shop as a child learning the business from her parents from the start. She went on to a lengthy career in church music as a singer, organist, choral and instrumental director from which she has now retired. Most of those years she continued working at the shop and took over the business in 2008 as a tribute to her parents. She has a special interest in Scandinavian music.
Sparkle the Cat joined the family in 2005 but didn’t become active in the business until 2008. She now assists Kay by greeting customers — when she is not napping, of course. She loves to show off her Cat Corner and to visit with the customers, whom she is certain have all come to see her.
