St. Paul Corner Drug is located in the Macalester-​Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul and open M-​F 8:30 am to 7:30 pm and Sat 8:30 am to 5:00 pm offering comprehensive prescription services including compounding. Patients can access their prescription records online to look up drug information or to order a refill. Refills can also be ordered using our FREE smartphone app. Consultation with a pharmacist is offered for individuals that have complex medical conditions and subsequently, numerous prescriptions. High quality supplements and earth friendly «green» products are available to complement your prescription medications and improve wellness. We can special order any hard to find item and have it in a day or two. Delivery is available. Equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, canes, crutches, etc. are available for purchase or rent. Our soda fountain has been a hit for over 9 decades. The greeting card selection is second to none. We are about getting to know you.

History

Established in 1922.

St. Paul Corner Drug has been operating in the same space it opened in 1922 for over 90 years. Adaptations and technology advancements are what has allowed this unique pharmacy to stay viable in today’s business climate. The «Mojo» of 9 decades of business within these walls erases the thought of moving to a new location. Conveniently located at the intersection of Snelling and St. Clair Avenues makes it accessible to thousands of young and old that live in this highly residential area of St. Paul. The pharmacy business has been passed down over the years from the retiring owner to the younger pharmacist colleague a total of 5 times, always carrying forward the values and principles of caring for people from generation to generation. That’s what makes this place so special.

Meet the Business Owner

John Hoeschen H.

Business Owner

John Hoeschen is the current owner of the pharmacy and has been practicing at this location for 23+ years. A 1989 graduate from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, he remains a mentor to young individuals that are considering pharmacy as a profession and also current pharmacy students at the college. He, his wife Tamra, and their 4 children reside within a few blocks of the pharmacy. He makes himself accessible to the community as a health resource and routinely volunteers for various community projects, most notably, helping to maintain a beautiful outdoor ice facility at the Macalester-​Groveland Rec Center on St. Clair each winter. Serving on the Board of Directors for the MN Pharmacists Association for 13 years, he helped change legislation to advance the practice of pharmacy to areas such as immunizations and medication therapy management. He enjoys the outdoor activities of teams sports, hunting, fishing, and is an excellent handyman. He is committed to serving.
