My all time favorite brewery in the world! Love love love their beer and always look forward to the weekly rotating cask. Amazing staff– so amazing that my boyfriend and I accidentally found ourselves there for 5 hours on a Sunday drinking beer and hanging out. You’re the best, Tin Whiskers!

Favorite MN brewery, with the exception of their stouts/​porters. Flavorful, but not overpowering, beer overall. Their rotating infusion is usually an A+ in my book. They have many events and games available. Tends to be one of the busier spots on any given night in the area. A great go-​to spot!

Best beer in town, hands down. Awesome bartenders, great downtown location. Seasonal beers here are top notch.

Okay so let’s all acknowledge that the branding and marketing is amazing. They have a very cool look and feel.
Moving on, the beer is pretty spectacular. While there, I had the IPA, the Coffee Stout, and a Scottish Ale. The IPA was pretty standard with a great hop flavor, the coffee stout was full and robust, the Scottish was smoky, but not overwhelmingly so. Overall, I’d take a second pint of any of them. Easy.
They’re located right at the edge of downtown St. Paul. Street parking was available as well as a ramp across the street that was just a couple bucks for parking (we were there on a weeknight around 6PM).
Beautiful taproom with a few large overhead doors, a few board games provided, nice lighting. Overall just a good place to hang out.

One of my favorite breweries in the Twin Cities. They have a solid lineup of easy drinking beers, and I love trying out the new infusions when I stop in! The marjoram and salt infused Wheatstone Bridge last night was so yummy! Be sure to check out Nerd Night. Last night’s Average Person Mathlympics was such a fun event!

This place is great. They birthed one of my absolute favorite beers ever that is Wheatstone Bridge. It’s this refreshing little number brewed with honey and chamomile tea and its the bee’s knees! (no pun intended!) How I wish they sold it in bottles at my local spirits dealer.
Fun Fact: Chamomile is part of the ragweed family which I am highly allergic to so I kind of freaked out when I thought I might in turn be allergic to Chamomile but alas, I don’t care that much. This beer is too good to give up.
They also have a solid collection of board games to entertain yourself with and you can feel free to bring in your own food or get some delivered.
Oh, and they also hold some pretty fun events on the side! I attended one of those cheesy paint and drink events there and I must say I had a smashing time. Mainly because I got to get drunk on Wheatstone Bridge and play with paint with other folks who like to do the same, lol. Definitely not as snooty feeling/​sounding as wine and paint, haha.
What I’m trying to say is that you should make your way over to Tin Whiskers and tell them Nichole sent you. They will have no idea who you’re talking about.

Nice microbrewery/​taproom in St Paul. Friendly staff. Bright, fun environment. Decent beer.

I’m a fan. One of my favorite breweries. It has big open spaces with huge windows and tasty beer. The pumpkin and wheatstone are my favorites. I also like that they experiment with infusions!

The beer is great. Try the pumpkin with Chai tea it’s very unique and delicious. Service is always great.

This is by far the best brewery I been to in Minnesota and my favorite beer to have. I’ll be going there vary often to pick up a few more gobblers.
This small brewery is a fun relaxing place to bring your friends and try new beer. When I was there they had games for people to play and they don’t serve food but they welcome any food you bring in.

I enjoy having a taproom in downtown Saint Paul. The venue is nice enough: long tables with benches and high ceilings. The bar isn’t huge, but it doesn’t need to be because it’s never been that busy when I’ve been there. The beer is ok, nothing special, although the Wheatstone Bridge is pretty tasty. One thing about having a working brewery located in the same room as the visitor area is that it ends up smelling musty and gets rather humid, particularly when it’s warm out. That makes it hard to want to stay for a second round, regardless of the availability of board games or a food truck our two outside. In all, it is decent, but there are so many other taprooms in the metro area that you’ll only want to hit this if you’re committed to Saint Paul and lowertown is swamped with Saints attendees.

Tin Whiskers Brewing Company, cleverly named by its proprietors (a group of engineers), is a must stop when looking for craft beer in the Twin Cities. They occupy a nice open space with a bar, tables and couches. There are board games provided and while they don’t offer food they do encourage ordering from nearby restaurants (and have several menus available for ordering delivery or takeout). So they don’t mind if you hang out.
My friend and I stopped by on a Friday right around the time Tin Whiskers opened for business (3pm). There were only a few patrons so we took a couple seats at the end of the bar near the «order here» sign and took a look at the available brews. There was an impressive list so we went with two flights in order to try everything. The flights, in staying with a theme, were served on circuit boards. We tried Wheatstone Bridge (honey chamomile wheat), a version of Wheatstone Bridge infused with jalepenos, Flipswitch IPA (on nitro), Short Circuit Stout (a sweet stout), Short Bridge (a combination of Wheatstone Bridge + Short Circuit), Short Circuit Stout on cask and Parity Pilsner (American Pilsner).
Overall we were very impressed. I’ll start by saying that the Short Circuit on cask did not smell or taste okay. I remember comparing it to body odor. I’m not sure if that’s right or we got a bad batch. However the other beers were well done. The Wheatstone Bridge is by far the winner here, as many other reviewers have also found it to be their favorite. Even the Wheatstone Bridge infused with jalepenos worked.
I do regret not getting a growler of the Wheatstone Bridge. We attempted to go back on Sunday, forgetting that local laws prohibit growler sales. At that time the place was packed. I can understand why some people were annoyed with the crowds, but when the beer is good that’s the price you have to pay.

So after my review, Jeff the owner of Tin Whiskers reached out to me to make things right. And that he did. Gave myself and some good friends a great tour/​history lesson of the brewery.
One additional star for reaching out and one star for making it right.
We will be back again!

We bought a Living Social for two flights, two pints of beer, and two pint glasses. The beer was so bad we did not finish our flights and passed on the pints of beer and pint glasses. The selection was very limited with two wheat beers and two IPAs on tap. The wheat beers were too sweet and had bad funky flavors. The IPAs were not balanced either. My taste bud were jumping off my tongue trying to run away! The bartenders were super slow and uninterested. Taproom is nice, but I won’t be back because there are much better breweries in the cities.

As a mother myself I try not to be annoyed by screaming children, but on a Friday night @ 7:30 pm the last thing I want to hear or see in a brewery is a loud 3 year old. I’m sorry but get a sitter, or go to Chucky Cheese. Anyway, we ordered a Wheatstone bridge and flight. Wheatstone was way too sweet and fizzy. Flight was okay but nothing wowed us out enough to come back.

Came here after visiting Great Waters brewing. What a difference! People here seem to actually enjoy themselves (employees and guests alike). They don’t serve food, but they do offer some local take-​out menus that you can order from. Nice way to support local business! Give them a try!

My dad was recently in town from Montana and I decided to take him on a Metro-​wide brewery tour. Of the 7 breweries we visited, Tin Whiskers was his favorite.
I’ve had Tin Whiskers at other places but this was my first time visiting the tap house. The atmosphere is great with large windows and ample seating. Their beer is always tasty (I love the Wheatstone Bridge) but the thing that pushed me over the edge (in a good way) was how friendly and helpful their team is.
They answered all of our questions, were personable, and made recommendations for other brews that we might like. Since we went to so many other breweries that day, I can tell you that not all tap rooms have this level of service.
I’ll definitely be returning and you should go too.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was nearly full of people playing games, relaxing with friends and eating food delivered from various places in St. Paul. It’s a super-​neat space with cool artwork and huge windows that overlook the find downtown area of St. Paul.
The beers were all great quality, we enjoyed a flight and all the beers, even the types I don’t usually drink, were tasty. I especially liked the jalapeño beer!

Of the taprooms I’ve visited in recent months, I can say without reservation that Tin Whiskers has the best beers. Everything is delicious. If the Short Circuit Stout is on Nitro, I challenge you to name a better example. The Wheatstone Bridge is an immediate classic. Even styles I don’t particularly care for in general, like Scotch Ale, Tin Whiskers makes enjoyable and worth the money.
It won’t be long before Tin Whiskers will be making regional and national beer critics must-​sample lists. They may be the first «break-​out» brewery in Saint Paul since Summit.

I’m going to be honest, this place was a bit of a mixed bag.
My husband and I came here with some friends on a Saturday when we decided to check out a few breweries in the north metro. Tin Whiskers was our last stop and we arrived right around 5:30. The place was busy but we eventually some bar stools.
The pluses of Tin Whiskers?
1. Physically, the space is cool. I enjoy the open space and high ceilings. It’s nothing unique for the metro area but it’s ascetically appealing.,
2. Parking was pretty convenient. While it’s in downtown St. Paul, they don’t run meters after 5:00, so we found a space without hassle.
3. The beer was good. I had the nitro stout and it was good and my husband enjoyed both of his beers — the amber and the honey wheat.
The problem we had with Tin Whiskers was the totally inefficient way they have the bar area set up. They have one spot to order, which is fine in theory, but the service moved at a glacial pace. Once we got our drinks, and finally got bar stools, it was very unclear whether we could order from our seats at the bar or if we had to get back in line because the staff was lounging about on their phones. There were literally six people working but only about two seemed to be doing anything. Two of the girls were on their cell phones and drinking beer and two others were washing glasses while the remaining two took orders and poured beer. On a Saturday night, more hands need to be on deck. My husband waited in line for literally 10 minutes to order our second drinks, and it was only after he came back that anyone asked if we wanted to order another round. Clearly, we could have ordered a second drink from our seats but it was never a timely option.
At the end of the day, the beer was pretty good but with how many breweries there are in the metro area, this will not be on the top of our list to come back to.

They’ve got some nice craft beers at this joint, although not every selection is a winner. I personally think they do better with darker brews, like porters and stouts.
Unfortunately, we were too far into our impromptu pub crawl for me to remember the name of my beer choice (or even if it WAS porter or stout)… all I can say is it was one of the most chocolaty, coffee-​ish brews I’ve tried. The bartender was surprisingly nice and seemed enthused to describe the beer and make recommendations.
The vibe is definitely «a big tasting room», vs the certainly nicer décor of a brew pub. Seems like a place I’ll check out every three months to see whats new on tap; but the space feels a bit sterile, disorganized and echoey for real unwinding. I know this isn’t what they’re trying to be– just don’t expect a «Cheers» atmosphere with homemade brew. Just short of five stars only because I like cozier places, and they don’t serve food. I was told, however, that you can bring your own food or have it delivered there.

Average. The taproom was fine, but not that big. When you walk in the bar is straight ahead to the left. There are kettles and fermenters to the left, no seating on that side. Seating is to the right along the windows.
The place was full, every table, couch, and bar stool was taken. I hate standing around in full winter gear, drinking a beer, while looking for a place to sit. I just want to sit, get comfortable, and get my beer buzz on.
We just had a small group of 3. We each ordered the beer flights. For $ 8 you can choose 4 to sample. It took a little longer on our order because they had to change a keg on one of the beers. It didn’t matter though, the bartenders were super pleasant, and there were a few of them making sure everyone was helped. The real bummer was that they ran out of drink trays, so we each had to juggle 4 little glasses, hence not being able to take off the winter gear.
We saw a couple leave two spots at the end of a table so we asked the group there if we can steal that end. They were fine with that, so we cozied on up to the table. Everyone was playing games and cards around us. The place was well lit for that stuff, not my thing though. We also noticed Black Sheep pizza delivered to the table next to us, so there’s an option for food if you get hungry.
I’m not into sharing a table. I feel weird about my inappropriate conversations and my love of swear words. I don’t swear because I’m illiterate, I do it because sometimes it just feels good damn it.
Best beer was the Wheatstone Bridge, very refreshing. I wish I ordered a full glass of it, the other beers aren’t really worth mentioning. Overall, the service was good, but I probably won’t be back.

I loved this place. Lots of room, friendly staff, clever concept. The owners are all electrical engineers and everything from the name of the beers to the logo has some relation to electricity stuff.
Usually I struggle at the local micro brews because I don’t like really hoppy, beery tasting beer. I know, so lame. Tin Whiskers gets rave reviews from me for their Wheatstone Bridge – so good. This might be my new go to beer (sorry 312) as I am kinda regretting not getting a growler when I was there.
Trivia on Wednesday nights and a stock of board games on site is always a plus in my book!
Note they do not serve food, but you can bring in your own. Black sheep is down the street and will deliver there!

I’ve been wanting to visit Tin Whiskers since they opened a couple months ago. It looks like they really embrace the feedback community, such as Unilocal.
Upon arrival, I was impressed with the taproom. The huge mural on the wall of a robot and circuitry. This is a geeky hang out to be sure! They had a spot at the bar to order from so you’re not fighting for bar space. Awesome! (I’m a firm believer in personal space)
We ordered 2 flights to cover all 8 brews they had on the list. I was surprised when only the IPA had any type of aroma to it. All beers were decent beers, however one stood out from the crowd. The Wheatstone Bridge had a nice smooth flavor to it. And just like that, I had found the growler I was taking home with me. I can see why they have it as a Unilocal discount. It’s a great beer! I’m impressed with the place and I’ll be back with more friends to explore it a bit better. Hopefully I can catch a tour fo the place as well.
One other item, they had the most unique flight boards I’ve ever seen and adds to the geekiness of the place. I won’t spoil it for you though. Go see for yourself.

Always happy to visit a brewery! I love the name but really wish it had something to do with cats! The little robot guy is cute but not as darling as a kitty would be.
I get it this was founded by three electrical engineers and that is cool. I love that my beer flight came on a little circuit board. The space is hip and comfy. I enjoyed most of my beer choices and I think this place is doing some good things.

In electronics a Tin Whisker is a bad thing. But this isn’t electronics, its BEER! I
And, as it turns out, a Tin Whisker is a very good thing indeed.
The beer is very nice. The space is beautiful. The logo is whimsical.
I got to sample a couple of their beers — I like what I tasted
Wheatstone bridge is a lighter wheat beer with a slight fruitiness. My better half gives it two thumbs up.
I had the Flip Switch IPA. very smooth and not overtart.
They also had a «beta batch» stout. This was a nitro beer (like Guiness). Very approachable for the «eeew Guiness» crowd yet with plenty of flavor to please a stout lover.
The taproom itself is very open. The area is one big room with the bar in the center. The business half is cordoned off but on full display. Seating is along several tables near the floor to ceiling windows. I love the amount of light this place has. The robot logo colorfully adorns the entry wall (see pic)
Food options within an easy walk include Black Sheep Pizza and SahWaDee. If you actually cross a street or two, there are many more.
So come for the whimsy, stay for the beer, and then go get some good food nearby.
