Review for hair only. I went here for the first time the other day for highlights and a cut. Pretty simple I figured. I had past the shoulders light brown hair. It was pretty much all the same brown — not colored really. The lady’s name I was booked with was Amanda. I called and got prices ahead of time so there were no surprises(22 for cut, 45 for partial highlights). I brought pics from Pinterest to help show that I wanted simple highlights. She told me what I wanted was called ombré. She started knotting up my hair and putting blonde color on all the ends(eek). Said it was a new technique! Then put color all over the top to «warm» my natural up. My hair came out orange brown on top(lighter) and blondish on bottom. Not what I wanted at all. I told her and she offered to fix it to the highlights I originally asked for. So she put highlights and a darker than my natural brown all over. Then took another client. 45 min later she got back to washing me. By this point my scalp was starting to hurt. She blew dried my hair and it was still not good. I was not going to have her fix it anymore. I just wanted to leave as it was 4hrs later. She wrote up my bill for over $ 100 and told me I just wasn’t going to be happy ever. I told her that was not the price quoted when I made the apt. Her response was she did more that’s why — hey lady I asked for highlights not what you did!!! The owner offered to just charge me$ 45. I was almost in tears so I agreed and left. It has been 4 days since my color. My scalp still hurts like it has chemical burn or blisters on it. I need to get my hair fixed still but can’t till my head can take it. Not to mention her highlights look rainbowish orange blonde since she rushed thru it. The highlights are chunky and often far from the root. One thing she did do ok was cut my hair. She seemed like a somewhat decent person just sucked at color and being nice! I will never go back to this salon as my head just is In so much pain still.

HEATHERRISTERIS A HAIRGENIUS. Literally. I’ve been seeing her foreve and whether I get just a quick, dry cut trim or get full blown highlights and a blow out, she does an outstanding job. I have never, ever been disappointed. Well, now I am, because I moved out of state and have such horrible experiences with salons since :(I have only used Heather, but the other stylists seem great too. But seriously two words– Heather Rister. She is amazing. I will just let my ends get all FRIED and messed up out here in Cali and anytime I come back to STL to visit, I will PAYHER A VISIT! Can’t anyone but Heather touch these locks :) Bonus– you can tan here too, for SUPER cheap!

Review for tanning beds only… I tried this place based on how conveniently located it was as well as the reviews I read from other Unilocalers. I’m fair skinned and had NEVER tanned in my entire life, but had some unsightly summer tan lines that were not a good look with my wedding dress. Of course, I only realized this TWOWEEKS before I was leaving for our wedding abroad, and I was pretty sure there were no tanning salons in the small villages of Ireland. Over the course of two weeks in late September, I was able to stop in 5 or 6 times to tan. I loved that I could pay per tan and didn’t have to buy a package deal. It was easy! I just walked into the middle retail section(the place is huge; salon on left; retail in middle; tan beds on right), told them I wanted to buy a tan in the stand-up stall, told them how many minutes, and then went into the stall. In and out; all for under $ 4! My tan lines vanished and my wedding day photos turned out great as a result; mission accomplished! The store and tanning stalls seemed pretty clean and the staff was fine. If you need an affordable short-term«tan plan» with zero strings attached, this is your go-to place!

This was my go to hair spot! Loved it for as long as I could make the drive or trip. Started going here on my first stint in St. Louis. 2002 – 2004 Kim, senior stylist did a fan-tabulous job! always happy and energetic and always ready to give me a fresh look. She stayed abreast of the latest hair styles and trends from color to cut I truly appreciated her in put and proactive approach to helping me look beautiful. When I returned back home to Philly clearly I had plenty of fashionable designers and salons with in a 2 block radius. However I actually made the trip twice to have my hair done before I finally gave in and found a great place in the ‘burbs of –iladelphia. When I moved back to STL I did visit Kim for a few months and then I decided to try a new salon b/c I saw someone with a great hairstyle and highlights. Since 2007 I’ve been hooked at my new place, but I will always appreciate Kim and all of her work!
