Interesting bank; had not been to it prior to today. Do you remember the TD Bank commercials from 2014 where they poked fun at traditional banks where the customer comes up to the door slightly before close and the person on the other side shuts the blinds on them? This is kind of like that one. I arrived at the bank on a Saturday at, yes, 12:59p and they close at 1p. I get it, it was one minute before close and my fault for pushing the limits, but there’s a funny part to this story. There is a very serious-looking security guard working at this location and manning the door; probably not a good sign for the neighborhood this bank is in. He had a bullet proof vest with the insignia of the contracted security company he worked for, all kinds of ‘tactical’ gear, a gun, etc. From the other side of the door he tells me the bank closed at one. I turn on my phone, 12:59, and show it to him. It changes to 1pm, he says«It says 1:00PM now» LOL, it was actually pretty funny the way he dead panned it, only he wasn’t trying to be funny. In any case, the guy actually turned out to be rather nice and was just following orders. It’s the manager of the bank who was not so nice. He says well let me go check if I can let you in; he didn’t have to do that. I watched him walk over to her and chat. He came back, said the manager told him that the terminals shut down at 1pm when the banking hours end so there was no way to help me. This is the part I take issue with. There were about six or seven people in line inside the bank as they had just made it in before the cut off. Obviously the manager gave him a lie to tell me because if the computers actually did shut down at 1p, there would be no way to help the people in line and they’d have been asked to leave. I would have been frustrated but understanding had the manager instructed him to tell me that sorry, it’s bank policy that anyone not in the door prior to 12:59p cannot be let in, but instead they gave me a lie. Fortunately I have an account at Chase as well and they have several local branches with hours until 2p on Saturday, so I was still able to get the cashier’s check I needed. At the rate Bank of America is closing the good branches and shifting the good staff to branches they don’t want to work in, it’s probably getting close to time to end my relationship with them, it’s just hard since I’ve stuck around since the Nations Bank days.
